Oekakinin's comment is wrong, you have to remember alcohol in liquid form is NOT flamable. You might disagree, but try to light a glass of alcohol with ice in it - it won't light. What burns in alcohol is the vapor - which by itself will burn at room temp. However, the other issue here is the alcohol is now in the mixture. Even if the alcohol was room temp or warm, its not hot enough to consentrate the alcohol vapor to make it flamable. Higher heat = bigger flame PS. You used WAY to much rum!

you burnt all the alcohol when you were mixing in the stove. and your pan isn't shallow enough...........
