  • Ray Guy ??

  • @mtavares92 This is of today.

  • Are Sav Rocca and Ben Graham really in the top 5 punters?

And how did Darren Bennett rate?

I'm don't know anything about American Football...

    I'm just curious...

  • @Hammersley1967 This is is my opinion.

  • @rurallmaine

    "This is is my opinion."

No, I understand that this is your opinion and that's why I'm asking the questions.

I'm Australian and know almost nothing about American Football.

I only ask about Rocca, Graham and Bennett because they were amongst my favourite players in the AFL. Big guys that kicked booming 60-70 meter goals from the middle of the ground.

The Aussie media went on about how good they were in the NFL, but I had my doubts and always wanted the opinion of an American.

  • @Hammersley1967 Rocca is pretty good

  • @mtavares92

    Is he still playing?

Also, we've got this guy Quentin Lynch who is coming to the end of his AFL career and is making noises about going to the NFL.

Similar build to Rocca and kicks 'em a long, long way...

    Watch out for him...

  • @Hammersley1967 Punting isn't about making booming kicks.

It's about accuracy, consistency and hang-time.

Net average is far more important than gross average. Also, the coffin corner is a pretty hard type of punt to master, and you have to kick it lower than normal.

  • @Hammersley1967 Darren Bennett punted for my local team, the San Diego Chargers. He was very good; so good that a few of the current crop of NFL punters (including the Chargers Mike Scifres, whom he tutored) imitate his unique trait of kicking the ball on its pointed end, rather than its mid-section. The result is a punt that is plenty long enough, but more importantly it "dies" almost immediately with no roll; a huge advantage when trying to kill it down deep in the other guy's territory.

  • @desertswo

There's another guy coming over for try outs this year called Brenden Fevola...

He was a full forward for Carlton...

He's a bit of a knuckle-head (got fired from two teams) but he can kick a torpedo 90 meters...

  • mcafee #1

  • Brad Maynard should be MVP of the LEAGUE. He's easily the best punter.

(That was hyperbole - he shouldn't REALLY be MVP, but he IS the best punter)

  • Holy Cow! Thanks for almost 200 VIEWS!!

  • wrong, thats is all.. I am the best punter in the NFL, easily.. Tell me who else can kick reliably as well as pick up a 5-10 yard gain on a fake punt run.. Oh wait... i am the only player who can do that.

  • Thanks for 75 views!

  • Matt McBriar is number two imo.
