thats what i like about her late 80's-present career, sure she has some signature sounding rock songs like those on Return of the Mother and her 2 mid 90's albums, but she just changes up soooo much in those periods, and she sounds like shes been doing those genres for years not just for a single album, and she sounds great with them too!
Nina get's when it comes to dance music because she's done everything. She's created, the essence of all dance music and has been sampled by artists as well. I love her.
It was her best album she did in years... everything she did afterwards was boring and crap... love this song and the two singles "Berlin (is dufte)" and "Blumen für die Damen" which she also released from the album "Street". The video of "In my world" is GREAT... the best she shot for a single. Unfortunately no radio or video station pushed that song and she failed to hit the charts
it's from street- pierre et gilles the french superstar artists did the cover.... wicked album. Ninaleine is uber original and super fierce, gorgeous, talented, loveable, and a true star!!!!
I think this is off her 1980s album "Street". She doesn't seem to have a set range of music--she's done everything from punk, hip-hop, showtunes and even ballroom music. "Genre" and "stereotype" are words without meaning in Nina Hagen's world.
What wildfun said. Nina's style is any style. Punk, rock, metal, opera, pop, big band, classical, folk, reggae, even traditional Hindu devotionals--Nina has mastered all of these styles and more. I'd also mention that though she rarely shows it, she has a vocal range that I suspect actually exceeds a full seven octaves, ranging from a low growl to something that sounds like high-pitched whistling but is in fact sung from her vocal chords.
bought it when it first hit!
