You could break the bottom sand block, then quickly put a torch down and then when the next block comes down it will break causing a chain reaction giving you tons of sand :D

You can move in mid air, also you move faster if you move up in water that isnt hitting against a block, so the middle one that sticks out is like a highway and the other two are the granny lanes. thumbs up so they can become hardcore minecrafters :)
