Oh I hope mesmer is as fun to play as it was in GW1. Mesmer was the one class I was disappointed to see not being shown for GW2, and now that it's revealed, I know what -I'll- be playing.

@Nicro327 One of the Human Racial Elite spells will allow you to summon Hell hounds. Elementalists can summon Ice,fire, earth Golems as an elite. Rangers can swap between 3 different types of pets at a time and necromancers summon plenty of undead minions! What do you mean you wish!? :D

@atorayadragon its not an "open" beta, they have never announced an open beta, during february is closed press beta and in march and april, they will hold beta "events" that will essentially be kinda like stress test and these events will probably last a weekend long each time. essentially open beta on small little bursts
@PicklesReallySuck yes in WvWvW you can loot people and it generates random gear and coins this is very useful for people who want to lvl up in PVP only. There are possibilities of getting rares and such or maybe even cosmetic items.

@MrFrostbite4 I'm an old UO and AC Darktide player. This pvp system does sound much more fun than something like WoW though. I'm sure I will like it, but want a more hardcore pvp game.
@MrFrostbite4 In UO when you killed somebody you got every single thing they were carrying if you had the strength to lift it all. You had houses and chests you could lock etc. Thieves could steal your keys or castle deeds from your pack if you weren't careful and take your things, like your boat or house etc. The game was player crafting driven, and you could mine for ore and make armor etc. There were no instances though there were hard bosses and to kill one you had to be wary of PKers.
@MrFrostbite4 If someone killed you and took your things in that game it would be a setback but you could recover from it since you could just have someone craft you more armor etc. You could also be a treasure hunter and find buried treasure or treasure in the sea. It was awesome. Many hard monsters were guarding it a lot of the time. I think PvE instances really hurt the modern PvP market. Everything is too safe and easy on players.
Why do the characters all carry weapons yet resort to magic...? (I never played guild wars before, so any wise crackin' on that account can be forsaken).
@zintao lol well for GW2's scholar classes(mages), they use their weapons as a medium for their magic (ex. Greatsword helps focus the beam attack on a single target). Mesmers unlike the other classes will have more melee based attacks which arent shown (ex. sword skills include leap attack and illusionary leap which uses clones to hide the real mesmer while still attacking the enemy with physical attacks)

SWTOR is boring as hell. My main is a 50 Assassin, valour rank 63 and there is absolutely NOTHING to do. There's nothing to work towards. No rated PvP, no real incentive to PvE, and whilst it's a pretty smooth release, endgame is almost non-existent. Creating an alt is boring - you play through the same boring quests with a few differences to story (let's be honest you have ~1 class quest per level, and they send you to the same area usually).

It's much easier to make a game age gracefully when you use a set graphic style that doesn't try to be top tier. Look at WoW. No one plays wow for its "awesome graphics" because the graphics of that game are intentionally downplayed, this way the company can focus more attention on other things.

Guild Wars 2 is shaping up to be a very diverse MMORPG, and by that I mean its races. Races are an important part of MMOs. They offer options to the player. We have gone over the races that we will have the opportunity to play as, but many of us have forgotten about the other races. We will be able to explore their villages and cities, accept quests from them, and even meet them on the battlefield. (BTW, check out guildwars2beta . org for open beta keys)

you don't pay to win in GW2. Developers have stated that the shop will only sell vanity items like dyes. I think the game will be like GW1 where they make their money mostly of off expansions.

Aside from the usual daggers, staves, torches, focuses that a scholar class uses, Mesmers are able to use Greatswords. @zirius89 It's really funny because even Bioware from the very beginning said they knew their game was not going to have good graphics, and that it was intentional.
It's much easier to make a game age gracefully when you use a set graphic style that doesn't try to be top tier. Look at WoW. No one plays wow for its "awesome graphics" because the graphics of that game are intentionally downplayed, this way the company can focus more attention on other things.

@740Gamers The only reason there is a World of Warcraft ad there is because youtube put it there automatically on there, not because the poster of the video put it on there. Plus, there is no WoW whilst I watched this video. The reason that ad would be there though is because they are both MMOs, not at all because they are copies or whatever you may think.

Guild Wars 2 is shaping up to be a very diverse MMORPG, and by that I mean its races. Races are an important part of MMOs. They offer options to the player. We have gone over the races that we will have the opportunity to play as, but many of us have forgotten about the other races. We will be able to explore their villages and cities, accept quests from them, and even meet them on the battlefield. (BTW, check out guildwars2beta . org for open beta keys)

@MrGambitxRogue the thing with swtor is that the only new thing it has brang to the market is the good storyline and that is what made me want to play the game but every other feature i saw just reminded me of WoW thats why i quit today.. the combat in swtor is just like it and compared to GW2, GW2 combat system is so much more 'dynamic' and the best i have seen so far in an MMO and played.. maybe I'm sounding like a fan boy but it just seems this game has made a gamers dream.

you don't pay to win in GW2. Developers have stated that the shop will only sell vanity items like dyes. I think the game will be like GW1 where they make their money mostly of off expansions.

@DonMega187 No, it is a scholar class that uses a twohanded greatsword that is usually used by warriors to fight. FF7 has nothing to do with MMO's you fucktard. Aside from the usual daggers, staves, torches, focuses that a scholar class uses, Mesmers are able to use Greatswords. ALSO THIS HAS FUCKING NOTHING TO DO WITH FF, WHY DID YOU EVEN COME UP WITH THAT ?
