kaikovich, you forget that in Japan (all firearms, period) and England (all handguns and all full auto,semi-auto and pump action rifles), they still have the same number of incidents of people being shot with firearms by criminals as before the ban (as in England's case) or despite a fantasized "cultural aversion" to firearms in Japans case. The Yakuzas and other criminals can, and do get guns if they want them. All the gun bans do is create target rich environments for the thug class.

Why don't those folks who are against all guns and want this to be a gun free society, show they really mean it by erecting a sign at their home which says, "This home is a gun free one"? They will quickly learn at least two things. (1) That in such a society the ones who will continue to have guns will be the police and criminals. There was a school shooting stopped by an off duty cop who got his gun out of his car, which it was illegal for him to have in his car in the parking lot while off duty. There was a student that stopped one too but you never hear about any of those.

and yeah, the cops would like to be the only ones to have guns, then they wouldn't have to think twice about pulling someone over out of boredom or busting into the house without announcing themselves.

Let's take Mexico for instance, guns are essentially illegal, yet it is more dangerous than being in Iraq or Afghanistan. People often overlook the idea of the right to bear arms; it is in the bill of rights for a reason. Its secondary purpose is for self-defense for reason such as in this video--its primary purpose is your defense against the government. Often you hear about governments controlling their people, it is impossible to control Americans...we have a means of defense.

Japan has very high gun crime, firearms are completely illegal in private hands.. Lowest gun crime rate in the world... No, what seems high is the fact that 325 people were killed in Chicago in one year. That's almost one per day in a city with horrificly strict gun laws. Does 2.5m seem high when more crimes are comitted in general than murders specifically? A gun can prevent theft, rape, or assault, not just murder. And, the FBI has backed that figure. I have known several people who prevented crime with a gun. I don't know anyone that was murdered with a gun. It is good to question the statistics though.

I had an exp. baton in my car & a CHP officer said if I had my hand on it when he walked up to my car he would have shot me.
