i saw a commercial for a new craftman mower and the guy said *it outbeats the competition* and it showed a guy struggling with a john deere. i didn't like it......
@bigtaker5 do tell exactly why that is before running your mouth. The worst that will happen is the motor stalling. Even so, newer mowers usually just clog up at the chute and assume mulching position. Time to stop living in the 1950s!
@CapeCodFarmer ive broken teeth of blades, spindles, snapped deck belts, bent cranks and bent blades from mowing tall grass as fast as i could.and this was done on mowers ranging from 1978 to 2010,from MTD's,ariens, john Deere,IH,OMC, Jacobson ransoms and husq/craftsman. with the old style belt pretensioner to the eletric PTO.even ended up scrapping a mower from mowing 4 foot tall grass in 5th gear.the result was- fried spindle bearings, melted deck belt, ruined motor from overheating and warped deck
@bigtaker5 Yes it is better to go slow but no, you will not burn the motor up. Kinda might wanna know a bit about mowers before you go around sayin stuff like that. You just kinda look like a tool and would be the best for you to remove the comment.
That riding mower did a good job there, but I wouldn't depend on it all the time. You need a utility tractor with a bush hog to cut brush that high. Then you can come along with the mower to keep it that way. The strength of that mower shows the quality put into it by the people at John Deere.
Well kid, all I can say is thanks for giving me my evening's laugh. What are you, 17 or something? and telling me what to do...go out and but some expensive brush mower thats over 1500 bucks when in reality a lawnmower does fine cutting this small field of overgrown brush and grass. Please go spend some time educating yourself in school instead of trying to be a know-it ad belittle others.
Oh...and thanks for humiliating yourself on my movie!
@smokinjoe420falife yeah cause the new ones have Mexican Briggs and strattons, Not good old Kohlers or Kawaskis! Come on John Deere you can do better than briggs, thats for the cheap mowers not deeres!
i had the same problem at my grandmas. she sold the tractor and the field was getting overgrown her toro push mower couldent do it. my 1977 john deere 210 (10hp) with a 4' deck took on thick grass and weeds like a champ. the grass was taller than my hood! it never even plugged up! what a tractor! where others cant john deere can!
Ohhhh, I love it!!! Tractors and their bigger engines all the way baby! My tractor is not a Deere and it works just as good and thats because its a tractor with a V-Twin 24HP engine! Oh yes how I love the sweet smell of cut grass in the morning. Thanks for sharing!!! :)
Good to see the kid on the mower is using a bit of sense and thinking about rocks. More brains than a lot . . .

I don't know why but it bugs me when this kid keeps grabbing the grass coming out of the back and throwing it at the camera-person.

Kohler Command.
CapeCodFarmer 3 years ago
Ooops, sorry XM wrong button. You sure your push mower would go through that, 4 or 5 foot grass is hard enough to take down with even a tractor.
