I dont think we will ever see a crowd like this in WWE again. rock vs cena at WM28 wont draw like this, I can bet every nickel on it. This was just a once in a lifetime match. In my opinon maybe the top 2 most entertaining performers in wrestling history
i remember enjoying this match cause they were my two favorites, i grew up with Hogan and I enjoyed the swag The Rock brought. This is the one of the best matches i've ever seen. No titles, all pride.

Yes, Hogan wasn't the best wrestler or performer but he has incredible charisma and was great on the mic, the man (along with Vince Mcmahon) put Pro Wrestling on the map....plus at this event it was pure nostalgia since a LOT of the fans at that time were still between 18-35, so had grown up with Hogan and had very, very found memories of him.

I guarantee if John Cena was to disappear for a decade and then come back, he would not get this kind of response from a crowd. So despite certain similaries he will never be great as Hogan, he has no charisma no x-factor and can't create empathy from a crowd which what I believe Hogan was best at, he made you care!

Had this been Austin v Hogan. I think you would have had Goldberg vs Lesner at WM 20. Both of them would have been hyped like hell and wouldn't have produced. Austin was nowhere near his peak at the time. Hogan moves uneasily around the ring. The Rock carried Hogan in the match. Rock's overselling made the crowd response louder in favour of Hogan (who had a homecoming of sorts). Austin doesn't show much emotion when getting beat up. The Rock and Hogan's emotions made the crowd response.
This actually wasn't a very good match technically, but the crowd alone elevates it to great IMO. Just goes to show you that the fans definitely are an important part of a match.

@DFK01091914 The Rock is amazing. He has so much charisma. He is the best in the mic. He sells moves the best (or second to Triple H). He is an amazing wrestler. In all aspects he is one of the greatest of all time.
Now Hulk Hogan? He doesn't do selling. He doesn't have any moves other than body slam, big boot and leg drop. He SUCKS on the mic. He's basically the John Cena of 30 years ago.
So that begs the question: Why is The Rock being booed?!

Yes, Hogan wasn't the best wrestler or performer but he has incredible charisma and was great on the mic, the man (along with Vince Mcmahon) put Pro Wrestling on the map....plus at this event it was pure nostalgia since a LOT of the fans at that time were still between 18-35, so had grown up with Hogan and had very, very found memories of him.

@blingadude Please understand it was nothing to do with not liking The Rock, it was all about pur nostalgia and appreciation for Hogan.
I guarantee if John Cena was to disappear for a decade and then come back, he would not get this kind of response from a crowd. So despite certain similaries he will never be great as Hogan, he has no charisma no x-factor and can't create empathy from a crowd which what I believe Hogan was best at, he made you care!

@bpsn555520 Rock is/was more athletic for sure but a more talented wrestler? No, he and hogan are about the same in terms of wrestling skill. Take Rock's lame flying punch where he jumps way too high in this clip for example. They are both big talkers and showboaters for sure.

The way the crowd favored hogan was unprecedented in sports history.Only the legand could do this.The rock was the most popular and was declined to a punk!!!!!! by hogan!!!! I think the outcome of this match was confused by both guys because it wasnt supposed to turnout this way with the fans.It discombobulatred both wrestlers!! Only hogan can make miracles like this.The rock should have let hogan win this match. Or at least make it a draw or something.The outcome was a mistake

Had this been Austin v Hogan. I think you would have had Goldberg vs Lesner at WM 20. Both of them would have been hyped like hell and wouldn't have produced. Austin was nowhere near his peak at the time. Hogan moves uneasily around the ring. The Rock carried Hogan in the match. Rock's overselling made the crowd response louder in favour of Hogan (who had a homecoming of sorts). Austin doesn't show much emotion when getting beat up. The Rock and Hogan's emotions made the crowd response.

This actually wasn't a very good match technically, but the crowd alone elevates it to great IMO. Just goes to show you that the fans definitely are an important part of a match.
