I enjoy your playing. This pedal seems like it has a lot of potential. I had a DM4, but I sold it and bought an electro harmonix deluxe memory man. For delay you really only need one choice model. The mm4 thing seems like it can cover all the great modulation sounds, be it flanger, chorus, or rotary, I'm sold.
@THEGUYD0WNTHESTREET ya when i got it i was kinda disapointed but its still a good pedal if you like all the modulation. i took it off of my board tho because i got it mostly for the tremelo and chorus and it just takes up so much room for only usin 2 or 3 effects.... and excuse my spelling im tired :P
whats your view on this pedal mate? how does it rate to the legendary effects its based on, i know it will not be as good but does it come close? sounds good to me if im honest. Jake
@blondegraemey if you use it then it must be good with all the pedals youve demo's over the years mate ha the only problem i have with all line 6 modduler pedals is the volume drop, was it a big/exspensive job to fix? i got rid of my DL4 for this reason last year. Jake
@blondegraemey hey mate just got one for £100 with the volume mod (only getting one if it had that done) have you ever got any settings for a sitar sound? Jake
Let's be really mean to the reviewer. What a jerk he is for trying to help us hear some of the sounds this thing can make. We should certainly critique his playing based on the noodling seen in the video.
Nice color but seems cheesy and not very useful unless your playing to a crowd of trippin daisys. Actually I really like the Trippin Daisys. If you dont understand that, you were probally there man.
is this pedal reliable, i jst read the harmony central reviews and fuck!! they talk shit about this pedal, and im afraid, imabout to buy it, beacuse it seem the perefect solution to get rid of some epdals, but it seems its not reliable....any help¿?
@blondegraemey So this was modded by Robert Keeley? sounds great, i used to have one and sold it because of the volume and quality of the effects but yours sounds superb!!
So, the pre-set storage function; does it store your settings (meaning the levels of depth, speed, mix etc) or does it just store the effect you want to jump to? Because that'd be pretty pointless if it didn't do that.
I have a question. I have a JCM2000 and I like to play shred. I want to use the MM4's chorus to blend it with my lead channel on my JCM2000 to get more colour on the tone like Steve Vai does. Do you think that the MM4 is capable of doing this job? I'm asking this because I never had a digital device like this.. Only analoges. I hope you can help me out. And if it's possible, can you please recommend a chorusmodel on the MM4 for my purpose?
@aceman42 for standard modulation stuffs I'd say go with others, yeah. But Ross Childress uses these to good effect on collective soul albums to create cool warbly stuff that adds layers to their songs that cant be done much any other way... depends on what your shooting for. realized here in my old age that 'interesting' sometimes makse for great tunes too
Good idea, personally I only rate the dl4 and fm4, this one is good at what it does but I find through a decent amp it sounds week, you can just about get away with the other 2
I owned one of these few years back, and is was rather noisy at times, however the guy i sold it to still has it and all i need to buy is a power supply and hell give me it back, bargain. sure stand alone pedals are always going to give you better results, but given you can get these for £60 on ebay im sure youll be spending much more on individual effects. Very good at what it goes, as for sounding weak through good amps, i guess frusciante has lame amps then lol.
In fairness I was mistaking this for the amp modeling equivalence so my comment was unjust. As I said I rate the other 2.
Yes I can appreciate you will spend more on the individual effects, but they sound better so what do you expect. John has a sweet rig his moog pedals are awesome I have never seen him with this pedal just the fm7 not this version so thanks for the info. As for getting the pedal back hope it re lights the old fire
So do i mate, im sure it will as currently i use ZERO modulation effects apart from a uni vibe which is on my boss v wah (another hotly debated piece of gear), and until recently the detune function on my whammy pedal. So im sure itll relight the fire :) as for the lord frusciante lol, ive noticed these moog things he seems to have several, what on earth do they do? ive seen a few pedal boards sporting these.
Excellent demonstration of the key sounds. Thanks!
I like the Leslie emulation but it sounds louder and slightly clipped compared to the rest of the sounds. Also I notice you have effect level full on. Presumably some effects would sound richer with this at 50%?
The leslie has a drive control that I may have had too high.
Actually, I've just modded this pedal to get rid of the slight vol drop problem that they have. Now there is now a slight boost when I turn an effect on, much better! It's a VERY difficult job to do though, but worth it. G
Thanks for replying. Good to know about the drive setting on the leslie
I'd probably use the mix at maybe 10 or 12 o'clock so the drop in level might not be as critical. Your review has made me keen to try it.
I also really liked your Line 6 distortion modeller review. Great idea to compare with original devices. What came across to me was how great the original Fuzz Face sounds!
Thanks for a great demo and good playing! I appreciated how thorough you were with each effect in the pedal. sounds extremely versatile and practical on my pedalboard
How does this compare to the TC Electronic Nova Modulator? I have heard that the MM4 suffers from some tone suck as well as varying volume level issues between differnet models. Cheers. James
Nova Modulator from TC Electronic kicks this things sorry ass. Not gonna lie, it's a much better sounding box for the same price. It might be lacking some of the more extreme features, but for all your basic mod effects, it's flawless.
I noticed that you are running mono in and stereo out between two amps. When the pedal is in bypass, no effect, does it still have output to both amps? Thanks
nice, i'm debating on this or a fulltone mini deja vibe 2- i might go with the fulltone just because its true bypass and has that expression pedal built-in ( i know this has more effects though)
Thanks for the settings. You['re not going to believe this: 4 guys with guns came in to my house and stoled everything including my Fender Strat and my pedals, I have nothing right now. It was horrible. Goodbye Line 6 MM4. Thank God im alive. Sorry for my english :)
I know this feeling man...it really is horrible. 8 years ago some idiots rob everhing that was in the house including my old rehearsing tapes from 30 some years ago. AMps, guitars and all that...fine, but those tapes? Horrible. Feel sorry for you man!
@rhcpmd Thats terrible I feel compelled to find you and help you along, but I dont even have an mm4 or a strat. I got a Dean z79 and a shitty amp with built in effects thats more trouble than its worth. I hope those guys break in, take my amp and leave me ur amp and ur mm4.
This line 6 pedals (i´d say specialy this one) grow everytime you tweak them, you´ll need to spend some serious time to find the right setting to every effect. This is a good demo but there is much more inside this MM4.
thanks for doing this, man. i'd been wondering how this thing sounded for a while and there weren't any really good videos on youtube. good job on that dm4 one too, btw!
Yeah, the phaser sounds like it's with a wah, wich I hate, but in my opinion the Chorus is pretty much what I'm looking for...The Tremolo's choppy, almost-killlswitch/ping-pong sound is pretty nice...
Flanger is very cool, but kind like the phaser, a little bit too cartoonic in some settings...The vibe is OK, kinda like an auto wah, but it's k...nice rotary...I like it and highly recomend it if you're like me and drown yourself in Buckethead's modulated riffs...Very cool pedal...
Good review of this product, however the sound is not so good in my opinion specially the chorus and the phaser. They can't be compared with the CE-2 and the Phase 90.
Great demo! Just to add ... the nine volt power is NOT compatible with the Boss power supply but the larger Line 6 power supply.
My only frustration with this unit was the inability of this (and any of my Line 6 effects - Mod Pro and POD XT LIve) to give a nice buttery Univibe emulation.
good video.

There is no slicer on this pedal. But you can come close on your adjustments. Great video blondegraemey! Line six should give you a commision!

Pretty good but not quite as extreme as some of the analog oldies. G

Hi, what do you mean by 'slicer' ??
blondegraemey 2 years ago
i think, this is kind of flanger + tremolo, there is in boss gt product, but the sound like triplet feel,

The "peak follower" effect for the tremolo would be an excellent way to play Radiohead's Bones without having to kneel down constantly.

great job-love the riff you played for the tremolo
