  • 1:00 how's that eye protection treating you Meg?

  • Regardless of your personal views of specific techniques, it is videos like this that take some of the intimidating mystery out of the ancient skills. I applaud these videos, even when I disagree with some of the specifics. So thank you for making and posting.

  • 2:00 Why is he applying ice

  • @dragonster82 That, my friend, is the riddle of steel!

  • @dragonster82

cools the end of the metal down a bit so it's easier to hold with his gloved hand, otherwise you need to use tongs to hold it so you don't get burned through the glove.

  • @dragonster82 to cool it down so he can grab it

  • good thing you know how to blacksmith now. that five minutes spent making half-assed retard smashing motions with your hand things makes you a master smith. congratulations!

  • @ffxikentaru There's no reason to be rude. Everyone starts somewhere and shes gotten a lot more experience with blacksmithing than most others have now.

  • hi where would i find butchers wax?

  • you're missing the hearing protection dude!

  • @enduro2 he doesnt need it,his anvil isnt loud enough for that

  • that dog's like

"the fuck am i doing here..."

  • that was pretty cool

  • burned fingers @ 1:28 anyone? "yeah, uh-huh (*youch!!*)"

  • you know your a man when you made your own paper towel holder

  • or buy one for few bucks at the store

  • 0:06 - hail to Satan ! ! !

  • how am i going to make that?? O-O

  • He's a lefty! xD

  • Congratulations , you have reached level 50 in blacksmithing.Go to your trainer and learn new skills.

  • I love that u say, wear gloves for protection, and then when u pull it out of fire and hammer on it, u dont wear a glove -.-

  • that chick is hot and that chihuahua is giant

  • ow my thumb

  • Wheres Kipkay?

  • 1:10 - 1:37 (especially 1:26)

    That's what she said.

  • thumbs up if you think makemagazine is the best channel on youtube

  • Allright! All i got to do is to get those devices that he has and im gona do this too :)

  • this lady stunk but i wouldnt be any better

  • when he hammers, the audio sounds like muffling and un-muffling ur ears with ur hands quickly. lol

  • Drill press? really? LAME!!! you should hammer the hole through!

  • can you make a mini stirling engine...and explain how it works....cheers and more power...

  • Dont Press Zero >:O

  • This is what I want as a job

  • Funny thing is, that guy taught kids how to blacksmith at my summer camp when I was a kid, I don't think he was ever pretending to be an expert, but he was definitely more concerned with the safety of others, he's been burned before, its obviously was not a big deal.

  • poor dog.

  • Hmmm better subscribe to CraftZine!

Some ppl says that craft channel is for girls?

  • Where's becky stern?

  • @homosapienssapiens19 behind the camera =]

  • now when is kipkay coming??! (he’s coming isn’t he... )

  • He burned himself at 1:27 lol

  • @TakronRust ahhahahha funny reaction when we pulled his hand away

  • @TakronRust lol, ya, saw that, it was funny as hell

  • @TakronRust haha yeah I caught it on the first go

  • @TakronRust he ddint burn himself.. he didnt even touch it Plus it would take a lot longer for him to feel it considering hes wearing thinck gloves

he thought she was gona hammer his finger

  • @hobomnky watch it again. NB he was wearing a thick 'glove'. It was on his other hand. It was the fingers of his left hand that got burned when he attempted to help her further rotate the metal.

  • lol yeah he played it off like it didn't happen...prob. trying to impress that girl.

  • @TakronRust I think he was just scared because the woman was already going to hit it :)

  • @TakronRust No, he just saw I was coming down with the hammer so moved out of the way super-quick. But it totally looks like he burned himself.

  • @TakronRust no... he didnt. if you look closer you'll see he never actually touched the piece.

  • Finally! I have been looking for a video like this for forever!

  • @TheFounderUtopia: hammers may be blunt but used correctly they can be anything but clumsy. Also there are many different hammers that people use. You can probably find most of them in a black smith's tool box though.

  • @0:55 Alex, you forgot hearing protection. One can very easily develop tinnitus in that environment.

  • I used to make stuff like this in junior high metal shop back in the 70's. They don't have this type of equipment for kids anymore.... just computers, which they all already have at home.

  • @dytakeda

Well, in my school we have an auto shop and wood shop. I see kids welding and grinding down car parts all the time.

  • @DanieleGiorgino An auto shop in a Junior High School?

  • @dytakeda

I never said I was in junior high. I'm in high school.

  • let me just go in my garage to my fully operational black smith shop and do this.... i shit i forgot i dont have one

  • @xXGlobalWarfareXx Then this instructional is not for you.

Move along, nothing to see here. :p

  • To all you laughing at him almost burning himself:

    IT HAPPENS.

You work around hot metal all the time & you WILL burn yourself.

You just have to be smart & fast enough to keep it from being a bad burn.

And yes, I said almost. It was a reflex to keep himself from getting burnt.

Did anyone notice how he was touching the metal for a few seconds before he pulled his hand away?

The metal was getting too hot to handle bare handed & the girl moving things around probably made him a little nervous.

  • GIVE US KIPKAY!!!

  • very good my friend

  • Thank you Make for getting a female host that actually looks female.

  • @tzkelley LOL!

  • Awesome video.

  • i need a love doll with the presenter's face... <3

  • hahahaha a little ditsy but cute but that dog looked so uncomfortable

    lol

  • Ghetto skillz at 2:18

  • Why is he using a farrier's anvil for this?

  • He Sooooo Burned himself! hehe

  • Proper eye protection, except at 1:04 where he starts hammering and she doesn't have her eye protection on!!! FAIL

  • @jonsparrow this is not runescape

  • He didn't have a glove on his left hand at 4:11.

  • SCREECH!!! it's good to see you working.

  • Butchers wax? Where can I buy some?

  • The dog at the end is like " o my god put me Down now omg this is so scarry I going to bite you arm when you put me down".

  • @jonsparrow i Lol'd xD

  • Great video. Thanks!!

  • Amazing! More like this!

  • I'll do it at home...

  • That was pretty cool.

  • The girl shoudl be wearing safety glasses at 1:04. Safety isn't restricted to the person doing the work. Also, prescription eyeglasses aren't rated to act as safety glasses - especially small ones like what he's wearing. He should at least have side shields, if not safety goggles (like hers) over his glasses. This is red hot metal people... no taking this stuff lightly.

  • @rhyno6

Real men don't need safety goggles.

  • @DanieleGiorgino

Until a piece of metal flies into their eye and they lose it. Moron.

  • @DanieleGiorgino then real men don't have eyes.

  • @rhyno6 i like waffles

  • @rhyno6

    Safety is for loosers!

    ...eyeball loosers, that is.

  • @Caniswalensis loose != lose

  • @usernameshortage I am way too busy to be correct about small things like spellin. i am a big idea, big solution person.

Call me when you have a big problem.

Just kidding, I am a rotton speller and that's all there is too it. lolo

  • @rhyno6 Thanks for the tip, you are right. Safety first!

  • WHERE THE HELL IS KIPKAY XD

  • @grdv10

    Dead, if we are lucky.

  • One problem I don't have a real hot fire

    And where's kipkay?

  • Sweet weightlifting belt at the end, that dog must be heavy.

  • I miss Meg on Threadbanger but glad to know where she went to.

  • What's up with the dog?

  • LOL the chick in the background isnt wearing gloves right after he says they wear them

  • @warriorstx you don't wear gloves on the hammer hand, only the hand that holds the metal.

  • kinda glad the other bitch is gone but bring back kipkay

  • @MickMinor14 Kipkays videos have turned into an ad-show, they suck now..

  • lol at 4:42 he was about to stick his hand under the drill.

  • blacksmithing 575

  • anyone else see that drill flexing off center?

  • @minicrop I noticed it wasn't spinning very quickly and looked a bit blunt.

  • this is coming from a decent blacksmith... this guy will be arthritic and broken when he gets older.... and his aim needs to improve.... at best he's a novice...

  • seems like the smith did everything and she did nothing but watching him doing it :D:D

  • 1:01 lol No proper eye-wear Meg! You're teaching kids bad things! :P

  • Meg is

    HOT!

  • where is KipKay!?!?!?!?!?!:(

  • @RazzKoop on his channel thats where

  • Cool Video, Thanks!

  • OMG that dog at the end! It looks like it doesn't want to be in the air!

  • meg! so this is where you went when you left threadbanger

  • the word "blacksmith" is a noun

  • Forged metal rocks!

  • I prefer a ball peen hammer to do rivets...

  • that's the idea more angle!

  • Rebar and sheet steel... You can do this in your garage with a blow torch and hand sledge, table vice, and a solid surface to work on

  • I love the old arts ! It's cool to see that things like this are still living in todays overly computerized society :)

  • why no sword :D

    would be awesome :D

  • @TheNachter Sword smithing is entirely different than black smithing. While they share basic cocepts and techniques they also require different skill sets entirely. Also sword steel tends to be different than regular steel as it is usually a mix of two different types of metals. One to allow it to flew slightly and another that is more rigid to keep an edge better.

  • I wouldn't use my regular eyeglasses as eye protection.

  • if he was lvl 99 and a member he would make rune swords and sell them in varrock

  • meg is cool !

  • 5:41 - Did she just say Crap videos?

  • "Get that little curled end there" "ooo!"

  • It's incredible how these guys can use something so blunt and clumsy as a hammer to create such precise work.

  • i'm surpized you dont use ear protectioin ..i'm a dental tehnician and i use ear protection all the time.

  • xD Himmelbaum

  • He must only have level 3 smithing. If he had level 59 smithing he could be showing us how to make mithril armour and weapons.

  • she's cute :)

  • Cool

  • Blacksmithing rules :D

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • i tryed this.... then i went on minecraft

  • simple lol

  • I love how he slowly glances up at her after he says "There are many ways we can bend it"

  • you should wear ear-protection...

  • Barbie's mom is doing make videos...?

  • once you go blacksmith you never go back.......smith....

  • @jonsparrow HAHAHAHA

  • lol at 1:29 he totally burnt himself but hes playing it off cool

  • @Vanel05 Good eye..I didn't even see that.

  • @Vanel05 sorry but he burns himself at 1:26 not 1:29

  • @Vanel05 If that's your job, you get burnt all the time. You get used to it.

  • @Vanel05 thats why ppl invented gloves and its one of the saftey supply's:-)

  • @Vanel05 He didn't burn himself its a reaction reflex, he was GOING to burn himself upon continuing.

  • @Vanel05 He's a blacksmith he's probably been burned thousands of times and it doesn't actually bother him like you would think it should. It's like how guitar players build up clauses after playing for so long.

  • the dog in the end was like... wtf???

  • its pretty funny that makemagazine is usually a green supporting themed company yet there showing us how to make paper towel holders. paper towel is not enviro friendly. reusable cloth which is washed is much better. show us how to make a rag holder not a tree killer.

  • @jonsparrow badass swords don`t pay the day to day bills. S hooks do

  • i wounder if he can make class 4 armor for me

  • He's not the best blacksmith in the world.

But that's because he's young and obviously fairly new at it.

They should have found themselves an old timer that smiths as a profession in one of those period theme parks or shops.

THOSE men can do some amazing things with metal.

But he did give a VERY rudimentary education on being a smith.

  • @Gripfang That is because he is teaching us. He can do more, he is just being very generous and lending us his teaching skills.

  • @BrooklynHomies Yes, I said, "education."

That implies that he is teaching.

Also, I have enough knowledge on metalworking myself that what he teaches seems rudimentary to me.

I can also recognize, roughly, how skilled others are by their technique & posture.

A more experienced smith could have also shown small techniques that would improve the ease of construction & he could have worded things a little more clearly.

I'm not talking down on him. Just saying he's young & still has lots to learn.

  • @Gripfang and I mention ease of construction and wording because there are people that still didn't seem to understand what was going on.

Though to be perfectly honest, if you can't figure it out from there, you probably don't need to be messing with hot metal anyway.

  • 300xp gained from work

  • this whole video is a that's what she said joke

  • We need more Meg. Meg can you get R & C to come over with you and whip Make into shape?

  • you dont know how to blacksmith, you sorta kinda know how to watch a guy make a paper towel holder... congrats

  • @LeMieux250 watching people do stuff is hard you know :))

  • "We try to get it as flat as possible" ...It was nearly flat before you made it worse with the hammer.

  • Someone get tom and jerry

  • girl hold the hammer right!!!! you got more force if you place your hand on the end of the hammer handle ...lol

damn these ladies... oh wops i'am one myself...

  • totally enjoyed watching "The Professional" reach over with his unprotected hand and touch the hot metal! =]

  • she cant even hold a hammer! thats just embarassing

  • Now I know how to blacksmith a papertowel holder... that's exciting

  • It's called the Octagon.

  • 1:40 an octagon am i missing something?

  • @hdhproductions7 yeah cuz blacksmithing is SO romantic

  • at 1:27 all he wanted to do is stick his hand in his mouth!
