George Lucas lifted this scene for one of his Star Wars movies as a tribute to John Ford, after all he lifted the idea for the first Star Wars from this movie, it was basically a space western.
Good point about having to defend themselves against Aztecs, I have never thought of that. The Comanche raids on the Brazos Valley and the German immigrants greatly influenced how Texas developed and didnt end until Union forces ambush at Palo Dura .
It is disgusting, untrue and generations have seen this piece of trash, venerated it and written about it. Worse that it's so loosely based in actual events which must have been very different.
i hate how Debbie tries to stop him from saving his loved one.. in this day and age.. no matter how low my family member has gone or what they have done.. I would still be there for them.. so that is why I love Marty's character.. he is the true Hero in this film
