@Glimfire4011 Because he is probably one of he main reason why everyone believes that hard bass dubstep is the only and true dubstep. We know he didn't create the weird subgenre ( we have Rusko to blame for that); but he brought it to a point where it overshadows it's origins, I would normally accept the new subgenre with open arms, but it aggravates me when people (mostly kids) don't even know the origins of the genre and rather believe that the new style is in all way superior.
@Fryguystudios I understand that. But just like rock, dubstep has differant types. I got into rock by screamo and through that learned about alternative and classic rock. Kinda like how Ry Legit led me here. I mean what I'm trying to say is that music kind of feeds of itself. So hating on a type of music is just wrong because you learn about other music by listening to certain things.
@Glimfire4011 I know it's not the genres fault -- even though I don't like it. To me it's more of the listeners that I'm mad at; if only there were more of them like you, who actually look, discover and understand genres. Sadly if I ever get into a conversation about dubstep, 95% of the time the other person only knows about hard bass dubstep and won't even acknowledge this type of dubstep, rather they would say it isn't even dubstep at all.
@Fryguystudios i can respect that and I do agree people tend to act like idiotic cattle always herding around one thing. If something sound nice to me then I'll listen to it, if not, then I won't. It has nothing to do with the artist or genre.
@skidwangle Why is Skrillex being hated on because he went mainstream. If someone music making hits a new high why does the person have to shot down? Seriously I'm tired of seeing "Skrillex sucks" and other stuff like that. What I think is thateveryone is just herding around and saying things to sound cool. If you don't like something have a reason if you just saying it to say it, don't bother.
@Glimfire4011 I think the answer to why people hate Skrillix is best answered by resident advisor; just search "RA Reviews Skrillix", it should be the first result.
This tune was way ahead of its time. No question. When you look back over the last 10 years or so at the origins and roots of what we now call 'dubstep', this is a pivotal piece of music. Toasty you bad boy!!
Mh, this reminds me of some hip hop stuff. Can you suggest me some pre-Dubstep artists? I gotta do a work on Dubstep for school, so if you can help me..
@akintosh555 oooooom sounds like any bassy sound that was saturated to death.. swing is a musical technical term that means ur timing grid is alternatly on beat and then slightly offbeat... some call it shuffle... imagine chopping a really dense break and swingin some parts of it.. ud get a staggering effect... but these are just words..
toasty does magic... its all about the way u let the sounds speak by themselves... hes a genius in that sense
@1337quantumnerd odd lyrics make me think of underground garage releases hehe it messes with my brain and i feel like im listenin to some of that cheezy stuff
@sTNastyFrntier Dub and Dubstep are too different things. And El-B was on more of a dark garage/breakbeat garage tip in the late 90s, it was the early 00s where he was making a more defined dubstep sound along with Horsepower Productions and friends.
=( This is Dubstep???

@Glimfire4011 yes, you absolute fool. this is real dubstep, not your fucking skrillex shit
skidwangle 3 months ago
@skidwangle No need to be mean; I was just asking. And there are plenty other dubstep artist besides Skrillex, so why is he always pointed out? Jeez!
