Its basically a huge projector attached to a computer that is using [an] infrared sensor(s) to read the cards people are using to control it. At least that is an educated guess on my part without doing any formal background research into the technology.

Its taking feedback from the colors of the cards its reading (flipping it back and forth) and what up or down angle it is at (up and down control). That is the best I can give.

Its an etch a sketch on a large screen.. its just a projecter... they have a real etchasketch and then the put a projecter over it

I was there, it was NOWHERE NEAR as fun as it looked. It was INCREDIBLY lame, they gave you these little sticks to wave around, which obviously the sensors couldnt detect the motion of each stick. That was easily the biggest waste of 20 mins of my life. But the conference itself was a blast.

I have a great idea for this. It could be used to show what a majority of people think, maybe in a national voting system on subjects like taxes, wars, laws, ect. Instead of our Congress voting FOR US(which obviously they vote towards the big money), if we all had a wand and voted this way or that on our monitors at home linked to a central database, we could get a decision in real time, and see EXACTLY how the American MAJORITY feels. Like on this stupid immagration bill.

This technique can be used in real time to help large teams of people practice and learn how to work together as a weel oiled machine, especially in the timing department. With lots of practice, a team could get very good at drawing a circle, or defending each other in a dangerous situation (maybe in battle somehow).
