  • i ONLY KNOW WHO THE DIRECTOR IS NOW AND I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT.

  • I hope they can prove that Gravitation is the result of spacetime flowing into the center of mass or as to say Gravity is a manifestation of that.

Aliens use deterium based ultra compact particle accelerators to accelerate spacetime around their space elevator vehicles for warp drive. General and special relativity along with the uncertainity principle govern that..

    See: Moving Dimensions Theory(MDT).

  • McAlpine is really bringing complicated science down to ground level with these fantastic videos. It's great to see her efforts are being, more or less, well recieved.

  • Its funny when he says ominously at the end : ONLY TIME, WILL TELL WHO IS RIGHT! Hawking reckons that any small black holes that are created though will be burned up almost instantly in the atmosphere

  • Seriously, is stephen hawking doing this interview or something??

  • hahahaha

  • i know that guy sounds so uncomfortable saying the rap hahahaha

  • @ShArpSh0t

Read "The Magic Presence" by Godfre Ray King pg 68

  • Worst. Reporter. Ever

  • could...this...guy...speak...any...slowlier...?

  • is there even one?

  • Bit 'tarded mate!

  • accualy the earth would have to be shrunk to the size of a pea to become a black hole!

  • black holes are created by the presence of mass above a certain density, such as the earth (about 6 million million million million kilograms) squashed until it is roughly the size of a beachball. Modern particle accelerators cannot do this because they are not powerful enough, so stop worrying about f***ing black holes.

  • if they create a black hole i hope they could stop it

  • The dangers of a black hole are a bit overrated. In the worst case they create very small and unstable black holes.

  • i gaus the people will sanction here for making the lhp popular

  • She looks like the collider was actually a time machine, and she went back to get some clothes and a makeover in the 80s, then came back to make this video

  • Who are you, Calvin fucking Cline?

  • She's a scientist, not a model. They usually wear whatever they find comfortable.

  • I think she's a science writer attached to the CERN PR unit.

  • critics???? they have been listening to Coast To Coast too much.....remember they said the same for the hydrogen bomb.....

  • Whoa.

    She actually IS cute.

    Go figure.

  • I vote she's hot in any type of way

  • she's hot in a nerdy way

  • What if they open the gates to hell like in doom?

  • are u dumb or what?

  • no.. I don't think I am. but you on the other hand, and who ever gave me a negative thumb cant tell when someone is joking. so... does that make you dumb?

  • sweet

  • Staggering thought... Perhaps this IS the afterlife! LOL

  • Her rhyme reminds me of cartoon commercials for cereal years back. With Fred Flinstone saying "My name is Fred Flinstone and I'm hear to say, I love fruity pebbles in a major way".

  • why not put the rap in the article?

  • is that a man or a robot reading the story give the song as a song not and stop acting like a robot you really are a boring news reader like on utv news absolutly no expression what so ever plus i never herd the rap on the news only the LHC and i herd the rap on newscientist

  • Most likely the speaker is not a native english speaker and tries his best to be understandable.

  • i suppose like me and spanish

  • you know this could be the beginning of the fabled teleportaion and space thrust

  • hey hey. if ne1 is reading this. im pretty bored right now! goto my profile and msg me on MSN! T

  • But the cosmic rays dont have opposing particles shot at it near the speed of light. Am I right?

  • I noticed you were concerned about this powerful machine and it's potential for destruction. I have a link to some very short but informative Q and A's from world famous (and my personal favorite) physicist Michio Kaku. This will quickly give you enough information to not only know for yourself why it is being done and why it is incredibly safe, but you'll be able to explain it to others better than most non-physicists ^.^

    msnbc(dot)msn(dot)com/id/25356219/ (replace (dot)s with periods)

  • ah michio kaku fan awesome did you watch his time series?

  • Yup, one of my favorites ^.^

He not only has a bunch of information, but he possesses charisma, something few other physicists have (oh, except Hawking ;P (he could take a joke before anyone gets offended, and it's not like I don't respect him too)).

  • ah exellent the last one the cosmic time was so profund especially when he was taking about how the universe will end, it was amazing, holy shit!! do you remember the nematode worms?

  • also i think steven weinburg definately possesses charisma. Additonally though lawrence krauss stutters abit and sometimes you can see he has a hard time putting his thoughts into words (well i mean it takes him a bit of time) is quite funny aswell, is Neil deGrasse Tyson a physicist or a astronomer well i think im getting a bit picky but hes really funny he did a lecture called stupid design at the beyond belief conference it was so enlightening and put me in histerics

  • Nematode worms? Yes. Oh and yes I also absolutely love Tyson (who does indeed posses a huge amount of charisma), though I consider him my favorite astronomer. I loved the discussion he gave at TED about the pilgrimage that astronomers once had to go through to do their work; traveling by all four main methods of transportation and having to switch from diurnal to nocturnal. Quite a nice tale.

I have them and more represented in my favorites, though it's clogged with a bunch of other stuff. ^.^

  • really i never seen pligramage of astronomers i will have to check your favourates then, thanks. i also have to check the star trek thing you mentioned i never seen that aswell how shocking!

  • As for Steven, he isn't one of my favorites necessarily, but I do enjoy his lectures. The only thing I remember about Krauss is The Physics of Star Trek (which pwned, Roddenberry fans).

I also really enjoy Clifford Stoll, who seems a bit nutty but is truly a brilliant mind (he falls into the same category as Tyson in that he is an astronomer with a big background in physics (necessary in many fields)).

So yeah, I was just joking with a clearly flawed physics stereotype. These guys have "it" ^^
