The term marriage should be taken out of the law books altogether. Marriage is a religious term that should not be used in government regarding any union. They need to call any homosexual or heterosexual union a civil union and let each church denomination decide if it's a marriage within their dogma. Separation of church and state. There are plenty of heterosexual couples who aren't religious at all and they are still called married. Just use the term civil union to apply to all under the law.

Obama is not a bigot for not wanting 'gay marriage'. Marriage is a religious dogma created by church/synagogue/mosques. Gay Union is the right one, where the state marries life partners, without religious intrusion. So please learn what 'Gay union' means, where they have the same right as married hetros.

Education should be for all children and adults not just the poor black people. We would like the same consideration. Tell these children to stay in school work hard and get their education. Jail is not an option and should not be treated this way. Obama act like that is the blacks only choices. We do not talk jail to our children, they know better. Obama is a bigot for not wanting marraige for gays. He also contradicted himself when he wants all the same rights after saying he doesn't want marriage for gays. If he wants all the same marriage rights for both gay with civil unions and straight people with marriage, then he might as well just give marriage to both. Obama is nothing special. He's just a smooth talker.

no it is smart.I am gay and I am a little dissapointed he won't call it marraige, but thats because it is a religous term. He says he wants equal rights, all the same stuff, just not called maraige. if you lisen to him it is all the same thing, he hopes using a seperate word that this will become reality, and eventuall y young people will change the term.

Not for gay marriage but civil unions and lists a bunch of civil rights. Um, towing the line? Kudos to Matthews for pointing out the reality of Obama, he is towing the line, and by denying marriage is denying rights. I'm disappointed in Obama. He's talking smoothly over the issue, but the bottom line is he doesn't support gay marriage. NEXT.

He doesn't support gay marriage. In another interview he basically says discussing gay marriage is a waste of time since there are other important issues.
