  • Okay forgive me if people have been saying this in the comments over and over again but all you need too do too sleep on the straw is stand still on it not do a dance.

  • Those pesky arrows got me every time...

  • I remember renting this for my Colecovision. I got stuck on the worm room, and had to return it before I could solve it. The failure to finish this game haunts me to this day.

  • Megadrive version's clearly so much better!

  • "Yes, you need it. No, you can't have it."

The Immortal: The first game that really trolls you.

  • Its clearly Black Mage (8-bit theatre) in disguise - got all those spells but prefer to stab people instead.

  • Electronic Arts ported several classic Amiga titles to the Sega Genesis / Megadrive with updated graphics and audio. The Genesis port of The Immortal has a haunting and beautiful musical score that puts the tin-eared warbling of the Amiga release to shame. Same with Budokan, Populous, PowerMonger, Centurion, King's Bounty, and Starflight. Ah, the sweet fragrance of memory...

  • @vau0807 The Immortal did *not* originate on the Sega Genesis. It originated as an Apple IIGS game, which unfortunately was scaled down on the Amiga, Atari ST, Genesis and NES. The Amiga version kept the graphics and animation intact, but is no where close for sound effects and especially music.

The original Apple IIGS version had a lush and rich sounding musical score for each level, plus the battle theme. It used the built-in Ensoniq 32-voice synthesizer that blew the Amiga away.

  • @Apple2gs Take it easy. It's good that you're such an Apple2GS fan, but please read my comment more carefully. I never stated that Immortal started life on the Genesis / Megadrive. Quite the opposite - I mentioned several excellent ports from the Amiga to the Genesis. Keep your gaming advocacy in perspective, okay?

  • @vau0807 Sorry, didn't mean to come across sounding so defensive or directing that towards you. I just think it's a shame the Apple IIGS has been so ignored in retrospective history, particularly The Immortal and Zany Golf which are the only two games (that I know of) that originated on the GS and then ported everywhere else.

I'm curious about the music in the Genesis version, I've always thought FM synthesis can be very cool under certain circumstances (early Genesis game mostly!)

  • Gayest port of The Immortal ever!

What happened to the epic clash music?

    or the memorable battle screens?

  • I feel very stupid for not knowing this (I pride myself on having an extensive knowledge of video games) but could someone tell me what an Amiga is?

  • @jackbrokeheart

    Wikipedia it :)

  • @jackbrokeheart this has to be a bad troll <_<

  • @jackbrokeheart

It is beyond any credibility that someone who ever played videogames could ignore what an Amiga was (is) or never heard of. Do you know about Dune II (the grandfather for any RTS come out since), Prince of Persia (they made a movie out of it recently) or the Monkey Island series? All of them were born on the Amiga, the first home computer specifically intended to play videogames at their best. But I'd rather think you asked that to simply amuse at the possible answers. =)

  • @futureconqueror

Sadly, I am not an all knowing god. When prince of persia came out I wasn't alive so yeah, I didn't know what an amiga was. I geuss I missed that class in school when they talked about the glorious amiga. Most of what I know about video games I've learned by watching videos and none of those videos were about the amiga. When people talk about prince of persia they don't usually mention the amiga. Also, no, I did not write that comment to "amuse at the possible answers."

  • @jackbrokeheart

Well, weren't it you who said you pride yourself for your extensive knowledge of video games? It's like someone who think of himself as a football expert and then turns out not knowing who Maradona is. There's definitely something wrong don't you think? Anyway I did not mean to offend you, just thought there was some kind of contradiction in terms... ;)

  • @jackbrokeheart You clearly have next to no knowledge of video games, and a tragically small penis to boot!

  • @louiedovey

Seriously, it's just a videogame console. I didn't insult your religion or something important. And as for my penis, I won't argue with you about that.

  • @jackbrokeheart

then you don't have an extensive knowledge of video games if you don't know what the Amiga is !

  • @jackbrokeheart you pride yourself and you don't know what an Amiga is? Nice....

  • @cuoreviola89 Are you dumb enough to not know he means aside from not knowing what an Amiga is ? Most people dont even know what an snes is so he still has much of a right to pride himself as there is always something one doesnt know lol.

  • @sonicadx

Someone who prides himself on "having an extensive knowledge about videogames" and doesn't even know what an Amiga is... has nothing to pride himself on. Period. Yeah, when dealing with videogames, of course... but it's obvious he referred to them. Someone who think he has an extensive knowledge of history and doesn't know what happened prior to the WW 2, is a dunce. Period. u_u (Doubly dunce, since he thinks himself cultured.)

  • the best game ever!!! very good fight modus, original puzzle and atmospheric music.

  • got to be honest, i much prefer the genesis version's music. And the fact that the awesome in-combat deaths are missing is a real shame here too

  • You really have to watch your step in this game :)

  • Not only that, you also really have to watch it carefully!

  • @LogInAnders Lol!!

  • Hmm, seems like the Genesis version was the better one. In terms of death of course.

  • Somehow, this guy looks like Gandalf with a red cap on his head...

  • You are a fool. Did you not know that Gandalf was a jew? :P

  • I owned a c64 to the very bitter end. I remember being so jealous of Amiga owners...

  • Ok level 3, 14:22, I've done everything, how come that door isn't opening?

  • The music sounds like its from a silent movie.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol :)

  • yeah the mega drive/genesis version was definetly much cooler how cool were the scenes i liked the part were you could split someone in 2 halfs, that was art i think they put it even in a simpson episoder does anyone remember the episoder were flanders made a bible movie didnt that scene look somehow like that?? ok maybe not they are still so awesome. man i love this game and the story man why cant mordamir die hes so freaking cool but seriously the story was so cool

  • I always get a laugh out of the dragon at the end. He just sits there thinking 'bloody wizards'.

  • No mean to flame/troll or anything but....

The music was excellent on the Amiga!

    And yes, I'm prolly a fanboy :)

  • Nah music for any of these games murders any other console on the Amiga, totally, I agree.

The sound on the Amiga was just the best for pretty much every game that's also on the Genesis/Megadrive or SNES. If anyone says otherwise, they simply haven't played on the Amiga, nuff said.

    Long live the Amiga!

  • @TheFunGreenDragon do you know that this game originated on the Apple IIgs

  • So many ways to DIE.

  • Better graphics than the NES version, MUCH worse sound.

I mean, where's that heroic clash theme when the Wizard fights someone?

  • Baaah this musik suuuucks!!!!!

  • music is pretty messed up.

  • Hahaha! This game scared me when I was little.

  • The Genesis Version was quite gory actually.

  • LOL U SPELT MORDAMMIR WRONG!

  • lol when i looked at this now a days it sounds like im in a church!

  • Does the certificates work? because im on lvl 6 and im never going to be able to beat the bitchy spiders

  • Excellent Post Dude, I Never Did See How This Thing Ended. Thanks For The Memories With The Game Itself. God Bless You...

  • I started doing walkthrough of this game for the genesis, managed to put up level 1-3 so far still got the rest to do. Just a hard game to do.

  • hmm the music is shit here,, the megadrive had much better/scary music

  • aye dont know what megadrive is but I think the genesis version was a million times better in music and gore... freakin deaths were AMAZING!!!

  • The megadrive was what the Sega Genesis was called outside of the United States. It's the same machine. And as much as I'm a fan of the Amiga, the Genesis version of this game kicks the Amiga's ass.

  • Excellent game. The music and combat in this version is different from what I've played.

  • I quickly tested the genesis version. It had more colours, ran smoother, an extra trap on level i saw too. EU games normally do get less smoother versions of games so that could of been the cause of more fps of the genesis.

Battling was different. Harder at times while other times i could just hold a button down. Just getting used to it i guess.

More music in genesis version but its nowhere near as good as amiga version imo. Amiga verions normally have better music anyway :D

  • nah this music is annoying and too busy... the genesis version still creeped me out and sounded scary today... this crap sounds like bag pipes waaaay lame
