We need more representatives that truly represent the majority of the people. Those representatives would be a good mix of conservative and Libertarian. That meaning fiscally conservative, for very small government, and not looking to legislate behavior or thoughts. Too many hard liberals and conservatives want to legislate behavior and thoughts (ie hate crimes, marriage, and abortion). Most of the actual laws should be local and not federal at all.
Why don't we just vote out most of Congress? Politicians always get re-elected thus they can become corrupt and inefficient. If we change that, make them petrified they're going to get voted out than they will work more for the people. We need more representatives that truly represent the majority of the people. Those representatives would be a good mix of conservative and Libertarian. That meaning fiscally conservative, for very small government, and not looking to legislate behavior or thoughts. Too many hard liberals and conservatives want to legislate behavior and thoughts (ie hate crimes, marriage, and abortion). Most of the actual laws should be local and not federal at all.

Yes, you are certainly right. It is the med insurance firms that are getting a bigger slice. What I'm saying is that those huge reserves of cash held be the insurance companies is Congress's real objective in their push for government healthcare. Congress wants that money for their own use. Congress also knows only a small percentage of those funds is needed at any one time, (not everyone gets sick at the same time...) so that will free up 100s of billions to squander elsewhere.

Doggett spoke first to the people inside the Austin health clinic. Outside, a crowd of appx 200, most with signs supporting or? opposing health care reform. Those supporting health care reform comprised somewhere close to 2/3 of the crowd.
After Doggett spoke inside, he came out to face the crowd.
The crowd started dwindling during the 45 minutes to an hour that Doggett took questions. By the time he concluded there were only 50 or so people left.

It's not that the "cost" (value) of Health care has gone way up, it's the DOLLAR that has plummeted!!

This was in Austin TX! A town where there are protests at Thanksgiving against the 'murder of turkeys'. A town where you get your car keyed up and tires slashed for having a 'W' sticker on your car. What's it going to be like in republican land? Too bad it's falling on deaf ears, they will still try to push this through.

The only reason this town hall was "failed" was that these people were bussed in and in some instances PAID to disrupt a town hall. These people are not concerned with having a discussion, they only want to scream and shout and infringe on the rights of THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS TO HAVE A DISCUSSION AND A CHOICE.

I'm an Austinite and I knew three people (all fellow Austinites) who were there and angry.
I can't speak to everyone, of course, but I know these people most certainly were not bussed in and most certainly really are very angry. The Congressman ignores them at his own political risk.
