In your opinion, how does the Traktor S2 compare with Pioneer CDJ's in terms of functionality? Does the Traktor have pretty much everything the Pioneer's have? Pros/Cons?

@KnifeBSting The S2 is more accurate than using CDJ's and a mixer. You have to get used to it, but in the end you're better off because you can do a lot more using Traktor software effects, looping, sampling wise than with CDJ's. You also have immediate access to more tunes when they're on your laptop hard drive. I hope this helps!

Is the Traktor setup (Laptop/Controller) ever used in a club setting? I've seen DJs with Laptops at clubs, but I'm not sure which hardware they are using with it.

people get upset before they google, update the traktor 2 software, then head to the midi mappings/s2 settings in the preferences inside of traktor, and there is now a default option to switch your gain knobs to dedicated filter knobs (to gain you shift+knob now). hope this helps!

I need help, I have installed traktor to my pc, I was on the kontrol s2 earlier.. when I play a song.. on deck A.. If I then move the cross-fader to the right (towards deck b) the music on deck A still plays as loud as when it is on the left (deck A).. also on deck B when I hit the 1st fx the light does not light up.. yet all of the rest do light up.. this might be stupid to you guys and maybe I'm doing just something wrong, this is my 1st time using traktor so im not used to it.. please help :)

@SBPEtube Check your settings, I would recommend going through every sub menu and playing around with your routings. I think you have your output set to the wrong channel, like I think its coming through the master rather than the line, try to go back to default settings and play around with your output routing from there. i have a S4 and am considering selling to buy a S2, mostly because I never use more than 2 decks. But im on the fence regarding the lack of FILTER knobs on the S2, what do you think? Would I regret it?

@assais I would consider getting the S2, but not as a replacement. You own arguably the best controller on the market in the S4 and I feel like there's still room to grow on it for you by utilizing the extra decks and sample decks. You wouldn't have the opportunity on the S2 and in the end you might regret it. I hope this helps.

@assais The S2 has a filter knob built in it. all you have to do is press shift and then use the gain knob, you can switch this in the settings.

@assais the x1 is basically all the functions of the s2 with out jog wheels. the x1 you can set cue points, loops and effects easily and do all the basic functions besides scratching.

@assais If you find you are never using more than 2 decks, I would definitely recommend getting the S2. There is a lack of filter knobs, however, if you click the "Shift" button on the S2, it will let you use the gain knobs as the filter knobs. @assais While dedicated Filter knobs are indeed missing from the S2, all you need to do is press Shift on the S2 and the Gain knob becomes a Filter knob. NI realized the loss and in the 2.1.1 update allowed this out of the box. I just got one this weekend and played with it and the Filter function is there... you just need to press Shift before and after (toggles the function).

@worldomination1 Its a standard mapping but I went into the controller settings and under the tab "Traktor Kontrol S2" checked the box that swaps gain with filter. To access your filter without doing this, just press shift and turn the gain knob, you will be filtered.

@PsalmLove Actually thats what I did when I did the demo. Watch me for when I use the gain knob and listen for the filter, its actually pretty cool because you can reset your filer settings just by clicking the infinity knob, it makes it easy to use it as an additional effect.

@PsalmLove When you go into settings there is a special section labeled Traktor Kontrol S2, in that section is a box that you can check to reverse the gain knob mapping, its included in the software because they figured that most people would want to switch the functionality of the knob.

But the check-box is specific to the S2 only.

What would have been cool was if the samples knob in the middle was the filter, and the a/b buttons were so you could throw the filter to each deck. I like having control over my gains.
