  • You? Saying you have no self confidence? No way! I bet that we (all your many many subscribers) could make a huge list of all the things you do that take a lot of confidence! And isn't it you in some of your video's that tells us viewers to make a goal and go for our dreams? Sometimes your best advice is your own. =)

I Heard that if you learn japanese you have to learn like 2000 signs, letters, ??

    Please answer :)

  • @Lovingkpop444 Japanese: learn 3 writing system. hiragana, katakana, kanji (chinese character) kanji- 2,136 character. Chinese- somewhere between 6,000-10,000 character

  • How long did it take you to speak so fluently in japanese?

(I say fluent because to me it is, maybe it isn't in Japan idk hahaa)

  • Ciaela,

You are amazing with you're Japanese! I've been studying for three years! What tools do you use for your studies? I use Rosetta Stone, Dictionaries, and Japanese Couch for the DS. How do you do it? :) And also one more question… I really want to make a Youtube for Japanese Friendly Tips & Studies. How did you get yourself a banner at the top of your channel?

    Arigatou Gozaimasu!,

    Kurara

  • @SunkistSweetieade she went to school to learn japanese and have been living there for years and years.

  • Hi, I'm maybe just a fan but as a fan.

I think u should follow your dream. Like I am doing. I'm learning Japanese manners and how to act around ppl there. Your videos taught me a lot! You don't need videos to teach u. All u need is to believe in your self! If u really love music become a singer or a record dealer or so. I'm more into art. But that's my dream. Now follow your heart.

    Love, Bee.

Whatever others say is secondary! But you need to have open mind at the same time to take those critics that would foster your potential!!!

  • Congratulations! you are a very smart person, I love your good sense of humor. One of my dreams is to go to Japan and learn Japanese and if I make it there one day, I want you to be my teacher. I will be more than happy to have such a beautiful teacher like you. Every time I see you, you remind me of the Little Mermaid! Wish you all the luck on everything you do. C-Ya. ; P

  • Wow your accent is really good. I can tell because I'm japanese haha

  • Sure people will say that your songs sucks. Try to find a song on youtube over 1k views and no dislike... REALLY rare.

There will be also be people able to understand your hard work and comment them in either a constructive or appreciated way.

For example I don't like nor listen much dubstep but I do know how to appreciate it.

And as you said, you need better self-confidence. Gambatte ;)

  • Don't give up. Live your dream.

  • i heard you sing,, and you aint gonna make it.. lol.. but i think you would make a great AV star =P

  • Do you work in japan or how did you get your Visa renewed so many times ?O.o

  • @sidewaysntraffic thank you for sharing with us your expert knowledge of being dicked. I'm sure your boyfriend is proud of you. But not sure what's that gotta do with japanese donuts....

  • I t looks like you have had nothing but small Japanese dick. Wait until you really get dicked down.

  • wow. weird.

  • Are you Canadian?

  • You are so freacking cute!!... Id like to learn Japanesse because I have friends form Tokyo, I think It´ll be hard though, anyways, dont worry to much, life is short and I can see you´ll make it, you are very well spoken and seem smart, besides, you are not the only one who is scared by what is comming... the world will find you after all...(if you wanna learn spanish come see me hehe )

  • dang ur so fluent

  • Micaela you speak the Japanese language really well

  • it sounded like you were about to cry ; - ;

  • I'm going to Japan because of you! :3

Decide your future when you're ready, no need to rush it while you're happy!

  • yes we all trouble about our future at some point in our life because we all want to do what makes us happy ^^

i think you have the support of a whole lot of people what ever you decide to do

i encourage you to put up some of your music

when you want to do it as a profession in the future you will need the training to separate good critic and just pure evil critic :) all that is important is the true opinion of the people dear to you! that is how i go when my art gets criticized

    !heads up!

  • sugoi~! teach me your japanese ><

  • i hope you're ok!! it might sound weird that i'm all worried when i don't really know you but i've seriously been worried all day. again, i hope you and ryuhei are ok!

  • if you're in fukuoka then you should be A-OK, but nevertheless:

    だいじょうぶ ですか?

  • We hope that you are doing fine!

  • make a video soon telling us your alright! Hope you didn't get hurt!

  • hope you are okay.that is terrible what happened in japan.

  • i hope you are ok ciaela, be careful of those nuclear reactors, you need to find somewhere safe. PLease find somewhere safe.

  • You were the first thing I thought of when I heard of the earthquake!!! I pray for your safety and those around you--I hope you're alright!!!!!!!

  • Are you okay?

  • The earthquake hit northern Japan and she's in southern Japan, but still probably feeling the aftershocks/tremors from it......My prayers are with you and the Japanese people, hope you and Ryu are OK, stay safe

  • Are you ok there,Ciaela???

  • I hope you are alright after the earthquake. I'm praying for you and and everyone in japan.

  • I hope that you are ok after the earthquakes that hit Japan. I hope that you and all the people that you love and care for are safe and sound. My thoughts and prayers are with you and with all the great people of Japan.

  • I hope you're ok because of the earthquake. Stay safe.

  • ganbare!! Ciaela...!!!

  • as a musician i must say ..... what ! jeje you cant let the critic stop you come on music is life and you seem to enjoy it ´.so stop having second thougts and sing!

  • Your videos are amazing! :D

    I had a question.

I was wondering, what are veterinarians like in Japan?

Do they have a Cesar Milan type figure there, like the "Dog Whisperer" of Japan or something?

I was wondering because I see in some dramas and anime dogs being tied up outside, or kept in backyards. :/

I know that there are dog otaku in Japan, (just look at Sirowan and his corgi Goro!) but I haven't seen a lot of focus on animals in the media. Is it different IN Japan? Than what we see here? Thx!

  • if even millions people hate your music, you might be able to change one person's life. Isn't it why music is so awesome?

  • omg was macaron cakes as good as they looked?? o_O

  • I was afraid to talk to my crush of two and a half years, until one day i said "that's enough!" so I went and talked to her!!! (....it was a complete failure....she started dating this guy i hated...) but my point is, you can't assume things will turn out bad if you are just not willing to really try! Remember tha remix I made with the song u wrote about having us vote 4 u on the youtube competition? tell me if that didnt sound friking awesome!

    you've got skill!

    ur special

    thank you for making video.

  • I'm 1000% sure you'll be successful. You are so cute and talented!

  • Dont be afraid!! At least try! the stupid people who would say u suck theyll dont have any courage, belive in yourself :D

  • Micaela, I think you told in some old video (when you had less than 100 subscribers) that you would like to work for the UN, am I right?

Whatever it is that you choose for your future, we know that you have the potential to succeed.

Some things that today might seem trivial to you, it would be the best to others:

Being a foreigner who has appeared on magazine covers, tv shows, won the Lotte´s prize, won the YouTube Awards... Has more than 17000 subscribers! Definitely u´r not an ordinary woman

  • i want to speak japanese!!!!! konichiwa

  • Comment removed

  • Don't be intimidated about putting your work out there! As long as you like the music you create I'm sure you'll find a audience out there no matter how big or small. And yeah, sure not everyone will like your music but there will be those who love it. So put yourself out there and say to heck with wat others think!

  • watch Back to the Future, you remind me of Marty :) If you love it enough to want to do it, you should just do it! who cares what people think?? the people who like your music will like your music, the people who don't, wont. it's that simple. you're great, i wish you could see that. if you sing, they will (want to) listen! good luck!

  • I am the same way, I really enjoy singing, but have no confidence. This is originally why I began studying Japanese. Since I enjoyed it, and it felt less terrifying than singing in front of people, therefore I decided to do it. Now I find myself planning to try singing in front of an audience anyway. Good luck, you have my support!

  • I think Krispy Kreme is overrated. Anyway, like you, I wouldn't suffer waiting an hour in line to get a donut.

The beauty of living in Japan is you can make decent money teaching English while still having time to pursue your artistic endeavors. Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you'll find what is best for you. You are still very young so I think it is appropriate that you aren't yet sure what you want. How great to be young and have so many possibilities ahead of you!

  • i wanna here one of your songs!!!! :D i bet your great!!!

  • i love you :))

  • How long have you been in Japan for?

  • @GerryThornberg almost 6 years!

  • @Ciaela Oh... wow... I was getting excited that my Japanese would've been this good after 1 year haha....... you're just perfectly fluent now......... haha so lucky! how old are you and how did you get to japan or how do you survive? Do you go to college? That's so cool! I'm going for a year through rotary, but if I went for 6 years my parents would miss me so much :(... idk what to do! haha

  • @Ciaela Can you come back to america? cuz I heard that if you stay there to long they dont let you back cuz you have to go to america to renew yur passport or something like that idk much about this so i am probably worng about all of this:/

  • @TheCutieNYA432 I'm not American, but I'm pretty sure that's not true. 1) You can renew your passport from within Japan. They have American/Canadian/European Embassies here so you don't need to go back to your own country to renew your passport. Of course, if your passport expires and you DON'T renew it, you probably can't travel anywhere.

  • @Ciaela Ohhhhh that makes sense! lol

  • Micaela, I really like your videos! You are awesome! Do not let people you don't even know bring you down. Even if they are mean, Ryuhei is there to make you happy! (More videos with him please! He is awesome too!) You have accomplished a lot so far, and have a bright future ahead of you, no matter what you choose to do. One thing you should know is that most artists hate their own work. Share your music with the world and forget about those haters. Haters gonna hate. haha

  • A cute white girl like you is a gold mine in Japan. I imagine that you are enjoying yourself very much if you are living there. Your Japanese is also quite good. I think the life you have made for yourself is wonderful.

  • Mmmm...I'm considering subscribing but I need 2 see more Japanese girls n ur vlogs >=)

  • It was in a video info for "Oh Canada?"though its quite old.I am 19 just out of high school.I have been to japan twice. What are you trying to say about Drugs Laws? That canada's is too lenient?Or Japans is too harsh?I know of the laws and even seen a few busted places. If you dont mind me asking did you leave for personal reasons or was it for the place itself?Actually i commemorate you for doing such a thing as moving to a country like that i dont know why i said i dont like you it was ignorant.

  • I don't have any confidence in my future either.

You're not alone but lets do our best to be more confident.

  • Hey I know exactly how you feel! I'm in Art School right now and sometimes I get told I suck and I don't know what exactly what I want to do, sooooo..... But I got over being told I suck because I got good advice too, and now I suck a little less and eventually I'll figure things out and you will too =D

  • if you were to post one of your demos. i'm sure that you wouldn't even be able to see the bad comments. because the good ones would be coming in so fast.

  • if you were to post one of your demos. i'm sure that you wouldn't even be able to see the bad comments. because the good ones would be coming in so fast.

  • I dont like you... I read your comments about canada. How can you say that about your own country? Im an american in the same shoes as you except i moved to Canada. You said awful things that i have yet to find true. You seem to overlook the huge problems every country has even the one your living in right now. Dont blame the country for you own problems. You cant outrun them.

  • @ThatKidWithInsomnia Please remind me, what did I say about my own country that was so awful?

  • @Ciaela In a video you flat out said you hated the country giving no reason. Then you go on to bash it saying that there is drug users everywhere and homeless people littering everywhere. And the one that annoys me the most is that you say there is nothing entertaining here at all.All of that is bull, from what ive seen so far. Ive been here for 8 mon. in a very small town close to kamloops and yes ive gotten the american treatment but ive met the nicest people ever and seen amazing things.

  • @ThatKidWithInsomnia Please show me where I flat out said "I hate Canada." You are probably mistaking it with "I hated it in Canada", which was true. You've been in Canada for 8 months? How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? Have you ever been to Japan? Do you know the drug laws in Canada? You get a slap on the wrist for being out in public with a pipe and some pot. In Japan, the drug laws are so harsh that you don't see/hear about ANYBODY you know getting high.

  • @ThatKidWithInsomnia But whatever, if you want to ~dislike~ me because I was unhappy in my hometown, haha, that's fine I guess. You don't have to watch these videos, and you don't have to leave me comments.

  • @Ciaela Hey C he's yanking your chain kiddo. Three items.

    1. If you do prefer Japan that's natural your young and love to travel/live in exotic places also I'm thinking that in parts of Canada it sometime gets like -40 degrees Fahrenheit.

    2. I do agree with ThatKidWithsomnia on one thing from what I gather from the internet the Canadian people are kinder and much more open minded (may Buddha bless them) than where I live (the American south)

    3. Do you despise the noblest of herbs? if so why?

  • @OHT53 None of this is anyone's business.

  • @Ciaela A truism. Apologizes are in order no offense intended.

  • i shouldnt be saying this cuz i have no self confidence either but you only live once and you have nothing to lose....just have fun.. if your having fun thats all it matter

  • 5 people are gay...or just jealous of this amazing lady. :)

  • what does ryuhei do as a job?

  • it wasnt boring,it was awesome :)

  • EFFIT! #LOL :)

  • Micaela. I can understand why you are afraid to put your songs on the internet because of all the haters.. but think about the 17000 subscribers who LOVE you and will support you, I'm sure of it :) once you put your music out here I am sure that you will inspire many of us to follow our dreams too! haters will always be hating and trolls will always be trolls, but girl, you are amazing and don't forget that!!

  • Hey, they still tell Emily Connor (Applemilk1988) she can't sing, and she has two CDs out. So don't worry about the idiots.

  • When ever I get nervous or lack confidence, I always think "you can't hit a homerun if you don't even step up to bat". You might as well try. What do you have to lose really?? Love your vids. Keep up the great work

  • hey ,don't worry about some unfavourable comments you might get if you put up your demos. you know, even if you watch videos of well known popular artists on youtube you'll read a lot of mean comments as well. don't forget, it's the internet and there are also a lot of trolls around, so you can just ignore this kind of comment. and also don't forget that there are also lots of people who like you and won't be to hard on you, who will encourage you or even be able to give you advice.

  • All of us don't feel that confident sometimes.. but don't say "that's how it is", don't accept it! I have no clue what I want to doing my future neither and I feel like traveling, trying new things, having fun, improving the things that I'm not so good of, etc...

But don't accept that you're not confident as a fact. It's just a FEELING you have for now, it will eventually go away IF you decide to do something about it. Do the things you know you love, try to improve and take risks. Take care~!

  • If you don't post your demos you'll never know whether you could become big or not. All of the people who have become famous did so by putting themselves out there. If you put your demos up and people say they suck, then yea it'll be sad. But if people like them, you'll get what you've always wanted. Isn't that worth the risk?

  • awwww honey, don't be discouraged by the few critics everyone is bound to have. please, please, put up some of your original music! I'm sure we'd all love it. <3 you are such an amazing person, self-confidence should be all yours :)

  • Yes, please upload your demos!! We'll love them <3

  • Please upload your demos!

    Looking forward to it.

  • Do barrelrolls

    All day, every day, barrelrolls

  • Wow, that sounds so cool! (you talking in japanese haha) anyway, i'm fascinated by the way it sounds and by the way you're able to speak it so well!

And if you want to know what you're capable of, you SHOULD go out and explore and try new things! And know that confidence comes from yourself, not from other people's compliments :) Ofcourse, it's never fun to hear 'you suck' but you'll have to ignore those and take in constructive criticism. Grow, learn and be confident! :) We know u can do it!

  • My boyfriend & I met in recording engineering school & he likened sharing his music to "hanging your balls out & asking people to kick them." It's hard putting yourself out there, but it gets easier & criticism is also a tool. I suggest sharing your music w/ a small group--maybe a performance class or open mic.

  • Put your songs on Itunes plz

  • You've assimilated into Japanese culture too much; most Americans have excessive self-confidence, to the point of arrogance. Bigger question; self-confidence and what-to-do in life, are they really related? You do music/sing coz that's what u luv, does self-confidence really matter?

  • I can say a lot to you but let me just be succinct here. Unless you're gonna get a typical 40hr/wk job you'll probably be figuring your life out for most of your life. That's what makes the artist's life interesting. I'm always getting new jobs here and there to support myself, but it's for the sake of my music.

And honestly, I constantly run into 30+, 40+ year olds that make a career change because they realize they don't want to continue what they've been doing for the past 10+ years.

That sounds so unappealing to me though. I don't know why Japanese are so obsessed with copying Americans. Next thing you know, my people will be fat like them, lolz.

  • @yuichituba Hey who are you calling fat the American people are wisely packing on the pounds to survive the upcoming worldwide famine that global warming will create when the rest of the worlds population has starved to death the then fit and healthy American people will dominate the world U.S.A. #1 forever!!!

P.S. Krispy Kreme will be the only donuts the new American order will permit so it is written so it will be done.

  • @OHT53 lol

You know what the best is? Going to Krispey Kreme late at night and getting a hot, fresh one as it comes out.

  • Your Japanese is really good. I see a lot of potential.

  • Ciaela, you are AMAZING!

You should have all of the confidence in the world, you've already got so

many fans... No matter what we do in this life, we will always be criticized negatively somehow, so it's better that we just suck it up and take it like a man, haha. So I totally think you should put your demos up, I support you 100%.

    :) <3

  • I am sure that you have a lot of capabilities.

    17,000 sub shows your potential.

「悩み」is the part of your growth process.

    You can do it !!!

  • Micaela, even the most talented people are told that they "suck" sometimes. It doesn't mean that they ACTUALLY do. I wish I could convince you to be self-confident, but really its something you have to build inside yourself. Be sincere and go for it with your music, people will like that. Like someone else said, better to have a few negative comments (and probably a lot more positive ones from your fans) than to look back several years from now and regret not taking a little chance. :)

  • That's 17 000 potential fans of your music. I think a lot of us are dying to hear it.

  • On tv and the movies a stiff drink helps. Try that experiment and let us know if it works.

  • Post up the Demos! People are going to hate, because they hate that your confident and their not. For ex. Justin Bieber he has like a billion fans and like a billion haters.

People are going to not like you for w/e reason but don't let that get you down. Whats worse, being regretful of something you wish you could have done or being out there with your dream and having mild success? Hey you might make it big idk... GO FOR GOLD!!! NOT last place. Enjoy the ride!

  • Woooow! That Macaron cake looks very cool! I am embarrassed to say that I thought the subtitles said "macaroni cake" at first. XD

And hey, I hope everything happens the way it should! I have greatly enjoyed watching your videos (just started watching!), and being able to listen to what you go through and what you see. You are a truly lovely person, and I commend you for having the courage to post these videos for everyone to see!

And please post your music!!!! I would love to hear it!

  • lack of confidence surprise to hear this from you.. you should put your songs out there.. you will not make everyone happy we both know this... if you have done your best and happy with the results yourself, thats all you can do. good luck and keep your head up!!!

    love ya!!!!!

  • I've been wanting to hear as many others you music since you start talking about. As some on that plays music but also loves it ( as you do) I look at this way, If you put your heart into it it shouldn't matter what others think ( of corse it means some thing when they enjoy and understand what you putting in your music). If you look at like hey this my way of giving back to the artist that inspire me your good to go.

once you put your music up let us know, cuz we all will support you!

  • just go ahead and post ur songs on facebook! even try to sell ur CD on youtube... i can assure you ppl will buy it...

others will complain and dislike, but the ones that matter are those who will love your music... and im pretty sure a lot of your subs will :)

I'm looking forward to listening to ur music soon :P (i thought u sang very well on that other video some time ago... so u cannot be bad)

  • Ciaela, you will always have people that will try to kick you, say that you stink, and try to keep you down. Those people are just envious #$% holes. Look towards the sky and hold your head high! Avoid negative people, places, things, and habits. This has been a philosophy of mine that I have lived by many years now and it has served me well. Best of luck to you!

  • I love to listen to your vlogs.. Even if you are just talking it is still very entertaining to me :D

  • i am also bracing myself for bad comment about that kinda stuff. ive gotten a few already. and you:ve heard our stuff, so you and I both know im in for some super hate HAHAHAHA

anyhow people are largely fooled by quality so unless you have top^line studio quality there:s gonna be people who mistake that lack of quality for lack of talent.

and all good music has lots of hate. only the boring, not so famous stuff gets little hate. ....

  • Its hard to make decisions without enuff information, especially if the subject(like performing) causes some anxiety.I would experiment with it,gain more info and then you should feel more confident in deciding.Sometimes just getting through the anxiety should have the highest priority...then you can make a subjective decision.I tried Krispy kreme once...too much sugar shock for me,so I'll stick with Dark Chocolate! : )

  • I've only just kinda figured out what I think I want to do, and even that is just what I want to do FIRST. I have way too many interests and know I'll find another career/purpose later on. So it's ok if it takes a while for you to decide and you can always change :) I understand you being nervous about putting up your music, it's a very personal thing. What about starting with just a 30sec preview to see what it's like? Even just the audio on your blog or something? Anyway, I'm sure you'll figu

  • 17000 subs wow C made a vid in a hostel during to trip to Korea she was excited because she had almost 300 subs (she promised that we wouldn't be required to die for her) a reference to the movie The 300 that was about March of 07 congrats kiddo and best wishes

  • So sad, is your music box broken or is it no one has given you a feather?

  • I took acting in high school cos i knew I wanted to build confidence within me, most scariest moment was when i had to get up and do a stand up comedy in front of my seniors who i did not know. I did wonder and thought what if they dont laugh or think I suck. I turned to my teacher and told her I was gonna back out, she smiled at me and simply said she believed in me. So i just simply walked on stage and gave it my best. In the end I recieved the top mark. So, I believe in you Macaela, <3 !!!!

  • @2Vu3 oops `Micaela!*~ :D Ganbatte!!!!

  • FUCK THAT. waiting in line for a hour.

  • I USED TO FEEL THE SAME WAY AS YOU, about what people were going to think of my singing on youtube or wherever i sang. I was going to perform in front of my entire high school(3yrs ago) and i really wanted to back out, but then the janitor at my school, someone i knew since the 4th grade said, "In life, there will always be people who like you and people who don't. That's just the way it is." Ciaela, you just have to accept this and do your thing :)

  • @TheMasqueraid Or as a friend said to me years ago F***em if they can't take a joke.

  • You can take consolation in the fact that you are not the only one with this sort of problem

  • i delete more of my stuff than i put online, but i dont think we would have ever met if i never uploaded anything. so imagine what it would do, even if you put something up as WIP.

    encouragement and junk,

    matt~

I enjoy your singing very much and I'd love to hear more of it. No matter what anyone else says, us subscribers know you're one badass talented chick!

  • How long have you been in Japan? I'm trying to learn Japanese and plan to go there for about a month in 2012. it's like my dream place, along with Egypt lol!

    I have low self confidence too, you just gotta DO IT! What can you lose? If you love to sing and you have songs recorded just go ahead and put one on youtube :) I'm sure you're great! :}
