This is not so much my style of music but the story of Acrassicauda I just watched (Heavy Metal in Baghdad) was terrific. I really hope these guys stick it out and make it big. the story is completely amazing. Having served in Baghdad in 03-04 it gave me a new perspective on what the other side of the road was going through.

Yeah the US government granted them citizenship eventually thanks to the hard efforts of Suroosh Alvi. If you actually look the amount of Iraqi refugees the US has accepted since the beginning of the war, it's something like 600 last time I checked.

If you actually watch the film, they were able to live relatively peaceful lives pre-invasion. Yeah, they were forced to sing some type of ode to Saddam during one concert, but nobody was shooting missiles at their practice space and they were able to walk about Baghdad freely without thinking their lives were in imminent danger. Once the US invaded and all these crazy fucking fundamentalists came out of the woodworks and the shit hit the fan with the civil war.
