While I want to agree with you, I can't. When a person ends another life, that other life is over, there is no recovery. As terrible and heinous as that crime is, the victim CAN recover. I know because I know some victims.

Though I wouldn't trust myself to maintain such an objective view when face to face with the criminal.

There IS no recovery from rape. You learn to deal with that fact and live on as you now are. Changed. Forever.

We will never know who a child would have been or could have been, had they never been raped, because that person is now gone. Stolen away, killed.

You seem to think there is only physical death. There is not.

They're lives are changed, yes, but their hearts, minds, and souls are not killed, as you previously suggested. The person is not destroyed, they are still who they are, even though they have gone through tragedy.
