  • He MUST be rich by now.

  • Aw poor karl

  • karl would still complain if he was a billionare and had to pay £400 for a fridge

  • $123 just for a man to stick his hand in the fridge! I be uspet too.

  • Was the guy doing the tiling Angelos Epithemiou?

  • @spugesdu Hahahahahaha!

  • Karl is very rich, especially after the HBO and sky hits, however he is very down to earth and he's like the typical quiet lad from across the street who keeps himself to himself, Ricky and Steve puts him in different countries etc where a professional jouranlist would do studies etc and change their behaviour and manners to suit the culture, karl is just a typical man who's himself, he's not too faced, straight talking. STILL FUCKING FUNNY loll

  • Poor Carl, hope you don't die with the 210 is it there in England?

  • OVEN

  • Funniest guy alive without even trying... Classic.

  • What the fucks a bolier? Mong!

  • notice how he always says 'right' at the end of most of he sentences when hes explaining stuff...............gotta love karl what a legend...

  • awww

  • What? He actually paid the £80? Fuck that.

  • He should be writing with ricky and steve.

  • fridge aint worth 80 notes...

  • £480 for a fridge? haha!

  • where's this from?

  • he's just a normal bloke, i don't get why people don't see that, he's not an idiot.

  • @Renneskid It's because people think because Ricky and Steve are laughing they think they should too. Half the time the stuff he says makes sense.

  • @Renneskid nah he's not an idiot at all, it's just that he's put in different circumstances and he acts himself in these situations when one 'should' change their personality, u heard the saying when in rome, it's funny cuz he relates everything to our culture. Eg: he was in alaska with eskimos when he made a reference to songs of praises, and in china with dwarfs when he describes them as richard and judy etc, he's a good man and i like him, i think he's a genius.

  • brilliant !!!

  • One more thing - Karl has an IQ of 83. The national average in England is 100.

  • @aurosne Lmfao, the average is always 100. it never changes.

  • I think Ricky and Steve should give Karl all the money from the HBO shows, the Pod shows. He should be living in a huge house, and not worried about spending a little money for a freakin fridge.

  • Only person in existence who can make an interesting video about his fridge

  • @WhitePois0n fair enough, at least you arn't like most silly idiots who think everything that comes out of karls mouth is scripted!

  • why do u have such a tiny fridge ?

  • oh Karl you make me smile. Marry me!

  • 480 for a pissy little fridge like that , that does'nt even hold much LOL

  • @yvonneost12 430. plus the 80.

  • He really does have a perfectly round head.

  • champion

  • I would LOVE to have a conversation with this guy.

  • Suuzaaanneee!!!!

  • Ricky needs to make Karl get a youtube channel and do weekly vlogs on his life grumbles.

  • @SLLion72 like an idiot abroad without the "abroad"

  • @SLLion72 karl would be a great vlogger :P

  • wheres the mirrored wall?

  • Start using reliable tradesmen.

  • £430 for a new single fridge!!! I didn't know bang and olufsen made fridges!

  • What are these clips from?

  • When I tried to explain to Karl that the repairman didn't mean to literally vac out the fridge itself, but underneath it where dust collects, he just stared at me with his deadpan, wanker stare....it was brilliant!

  • alrite?

  • it's the little things in life that are imteresting

  • @kaz287

  • I adore the milk in the water bowl..

  • If this happened to anyone else...no one would give a shit.

  • @mattdavgra exactly. he's no idiot, he's just found his niche

  • 'Can't do that mate I'm a delivery driver, not an electrician...'

I can perfectly imagine the way the driver said this and karl's subsequent reaction because of the face he makes when telling it. That was his reaction right then. 'Brilliant.'

  • @mattdavgra myself included

  • @mattdavgra sorry, must not of been clear in my post, i thought i was making, essentially, the same point (albeit, not as well put) as you

  • poor guy

  • i would listen to him talk about crap all day long

  • i really don't think karl is an idiot. i think he's playing a role. perhaps?

  • what was he doing before idiot abroad ? can some one tell me

  • @EddieLFCLucas Radio producer.

  • @EddieLFCLucas He was a radio producer for XFM, then he started doing podcasts and audiobooks with ricky and steve from 2001, check them out on itunes :)

  • Why is everything in his house falling apart? Lmao.

  • @DieByTheDrop Everything in his house is broken because it's being operated by karl pilkington.

  • press the CC button n put subtitels on LMAO ! even better :P the world told people french wernt working ? WTF

  • Retelling his old building story. This time he even split the story into the guy with the crossword book and the guy asking about the pub.

  • what a great plot :)

  • Best 4 minutes 34 seconds of my life

  • love karl

  • listening to suzanne shower in the background on the new fridge bit. at least, I hope it's suzanne, and not the next door neighbor who stopped by when suzanne left for work

  • @MyHorsePrince who cares really. And who is Suzanne? And why does anyone care one way or the other about who is in the shower? This is a piece about his fridge not the shower?

  • @jwilliamsoh suzanne is karl's girlfriend, he's been with her for 16 years but there isn't a single photo/video of her anywhere to be found. also, I was just joking around. saying it could be the neighbor cleaning up after a bit of rambunctious act

  • alri ?

  • I could listen to this guy talk about anything

  • @MikeValentine412 I have ^^ Check out the back log :P

  • vaccuming fridges out is actually often helpful

  • alien gives man a beard

  • I know that he's borderline 'special needs' but surely even the dimmest of dimwits would know to ask how much the call-out fee is before making an appointment with any tradesman.

Having watched 'An Idiot Abroad' I've reached the conclusion that he's chronically depressed.

  • @sleepypoodle chronically depressed. but he doesnt realise it!

  • @sleepypoodle Or just chronically an idiot? Probably a nice enough guy but not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

  • @jwilliamsoh That too, wonder how long it'll take Gervais to find another little 'project' to exploit.

  • Karl would be great at vlogs xD

  • Lol at the keyboard battle below.

  • is that the kitchen where karl saw the little chinese fella dancing in underpants, the dead lady reading a book, and the free fanny

  • He's not daft. Here he is rehashing a fridge sketch he first did on XFM way back when. He knows what he has and knows how to make a good living out of it.

    Do not be fooled.

  • @Huttate1 No. The XFM clip was not a sketch, just a chat about his fridge that was so funny they decided to take bits of it and put it into a short video. Like a some stuff in The Office, Extras and Ricky Gervais' stand up was mentioned on the XFM shows.

Imagine if you were chatting to your mate about something that happened to you which your mates found funny. If one of them said 'mate, tells us about that thing and I'll record it on video', the end result is not going to be a planned sketch.

  • @MachineGun28 I do know how it works : )

My point served to illustrate that:

    a. Carl is not daft - so how much of his 'daft' is an act.

    b. He can act - ditto

    c. He can appear spontaneous and relaxed (i.e. act well) - ditto.

  • @MachineGun28 I would add that if you can explain to me why Suzanne [woman of mystery] would stay with the Carl we see portrayed. I will in turn convince you that God exists; the world's oil will last forever; and Nick Clegg remains a credible politician.

  • @Huttate1 Haha. How about because he is kind and makes her laugh? You're original comment sounded like you were just saying its all scripted, which annoys me as it's not. It's not acting though, but he does play up to it.

  • @MachineGun28 Kind? Is that cos he got her the box of condoms or because he paid for her to have her hair restyled after dissing it?

He's re-enacting a situation that he has recounted numerous times using props and remembered dialogue. If that is not acting I would like to know what it is.

When you listen to the early XFM it is hilarious but post XFM, even later stages of XFM, you are often presented with a profound sense of deja-vu. But when it is completely staged as a fake experience???

  • @Huttate1 Haha, box of condoms. I think if that was the only thing he bothered to get her she would have left a long time ago.

They do bring up some of the same topics because it is funny, but he's still just giving his opinion. It's not like Gervais and Merchant gave him a script and told him to learn it.

Me and my mates recount old stories and opinions about things, that's not acting. Karl's doing exactly the same thing.

  • @MachineGun28 Well there was also the free camera and some DVDs. The point I am making is that when you recount a story to your mates you don't present it as a realtime happening now event including props.

In a studio when Steve says "you remember that time when..." is one thing. But to have a camera crew; empty fridge; milk in a bowl of water, etc. That is not honest.

And to do it all with a straight face is acting, plain and simple. And if he can act that out convincingly...

  • @Huttate1 Yeah, but our mates aren't famous writers actors and producers. Props just make it more interesting. I can guarantee there was no script for this so it is still totally honest.

Karl had a cameo in the Christmas special of Extras. All he had to say was 'nah, you're alright' when Ricky asked him if he wanted an autograph. Did you see how many takes that took? The guy's not an actor.

  • @Huttate1 I've just realised that I'm having a discussion with someone on YouTube and they haven't resorted to childish name calling or told me to go fuck myself. Wow, that's a first!

  • @MachineGun28

"You're an idiot! Play a record!"

    Better?

  • @Huttate1 Perfect

  • @Huttate1 You and machine gun, im proud. best natured discussion on yt ive ever seen. i think i agree with both of you. he does exaggerate and he knows what hes doing, but even still hes funny. see the interview on something for the weekend, he comes across as articulate, friendly and funny.

  • Look at that head..It's like Charlie Brown :D

  • Gotta love the Milk in the bowl of water.

  • thumbs up if you wouldn't want carl wiring your fridge to the mains!!!

  • @SonOfSome

Karl is not an idiot @ all.

AND that 'classic monkeys writing shakespeare' actually errs on the side of Karl.

Statistically, it doesn't matter how long the monkeys have, infinite or not, there is no guarantee that they would write anything @ all.

Because they are capable of NOT writing shakespeare, it is possible that they would NOT write shakespeare in an infinte amount of time.

Karl's ideas, while unique and sometimes not fully thought through, actually ask us question 'why'...

  • @Bowlesy13 I'm a big fan of Karls but he is an idiot. Your giving him way to much credit, he said an infinite amount of monkeys couldn't write Shakespeare because they haven't read Shakespeare not because he was taking a philosophical approach. He's got an IQ of 83 the average human's IQ is 100 and to qualify as mentally retarded your IQ has to be under 70. Karl can't understand Natural Selection but believes monkeys are capable of driving, reading maps, having affairs and sending emails.

  • @EnrichmentCenter

I always assumed that a lot of what he says is an act....

How do you know his I.Q.? Has he taken a test and did they announce the results or something?

  • @EnrichmentCenter Yeah, ur rite about the shakespeare thing, but the fact is that he refused to accept what is a 'known' fact. Like his watch idea that counts down ur life. It's genius! He can't explain it properly, but it is a brilliant idea.

An IQ test is largely irrlelevant in how smart u r

Einstein didn't talk until he was 3, and barely passed college.

Extreme I know, and I'm not comparing Karl to this exactly, but more the idea that just because someone doesn't fit the characteristics of

  • @EnrichmentCenter what is believed to be intelligence doesn't mean that they are not brilliant in their thoughts and ideas. Karl is a philosopher in his own right and should really not be referred to as an idiot, strange and 'out there' as his ideas sometimes are...

  • they charged you $130 to tell you that your fridge is broken?! Fuck that! I'd just say I'l see you in court...

  • 80 quid??? Wow I would never pay that

  • LOL Its Broke.

  • right

  • I would give up 10 years on my life to be friends with Pilky.

  • @TSMDesigns What? I mean I looked this up because of Idiot abroad.. I just wanted to see if he was an idiot outside of that show; pretty much.. yes... Anyway what is so special about this dude? I mean this has SOME entertainment value but I mean how much really???? And you would give part of your life to be friends with him, or anyone for that matter? Don't get it.

  • @jwilliamsoh

He's inspirational and very funny! I also see a bit of myself in him. I don't just listen to the audiobooks for a laugh, I also listen to it to see if his theories agree with mine :)

  • He's not intelligent. His idiocy is annoying. He couldn't even grasp the ideas or infinity or randomness when talking about that classic "monkeys writing Shakespeare" idea.

  • @SonOfSome right, well, glad you tuned into the video then. Speaking of stupid, does seem a bit stupid to be watching a video of a man you don't like

  • @donkeytacos That doesn't make sense. Are you telling me that I was supposed to know I wouldn't like him before even watching his videos, or that I shouldn't be expressing my opinion of him?

  • @SonOfSome sorry genius
