I really think he was just having fun. I've heard other stuff from this same tape and he does all the songs in a jokey manner (if you listen at the very end of this he's doing a piss take on my sweet lord too) People read too much into these things
@XNowhereMan Absolutely, look at the Paul McCartney Ram album and their is one beetle mounting another. This picture of John above hold the pig at 1.24 is John making fun of the Paul album Ram because Paul holds a Ram (hence the name of the album), in exactly the same way as John is holding the pig. The picture of John holding the pig was included as a photo inside the album ( back in the days of vinyl). The imagine album came out after the Ram album.
Funny as hell, John screwing around with Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey, this is the time where the Beatles had split and bad feelings and John and Paul taking jabs at each other in their songs on their solo albums. Notice the picture shown, which is off the Paul McCartney Ram album and you see the two bugs(one mounting the other) ie-- one beatle screwing another beatle. Don't think that we missed that one Paul lol
This was on John's 31st birthday. It's so funny how they carried on with Admiral Halsey after they sing Happy Birthday. I know they were fooling around but this version is pretty catchy..... maybe even album worthy. That's how talented Lennon was. Perhaps John was a tiny bit jealous of how big Ram was & the jabs Paul took at John.
John would not have wasted his time, stoned or not, if he didn't really like and admire the song. John was just as big a music fan as any of us, probably the biggest McCartney fan, and he could hear the brilliance in Paul's tune. He most likely wished he had been on the recording! peace and love...
@rwk1983 How is he a jerk? Because he's singing Paul's song? People really ascertain they know these men and get all uptight if they ever saying anything bad about each other, when really the only people who know or should care are them.
