Mark, you are my idol, I picked up bass because of you, keep it up, i love your work, can't wait for your guys' next album, I'm almost 18, and Breaking Benjamin was there at the beginning with me, I got hooked to your stuff since Saturate, and you guys are still my favorite band. Love you all!
@theryanstorm Dont' think you own one because if you did you would know that this is a warwick. I own a spector too but you have to give a company it's due.
@misanthroposy sorry to correct you but they arent. all warwicks have 34 inch scales, even their 5 strings. his basses seem long because warwick makes their bodys small so that reach on all notes of the neck is possible.
Even though I'm a drummer at heart, I really do reckon that bassists are too much in the background, and they should be just as important as any guitar.
breaking benjamin has got really talented people in their band great singer amazing drums and bass player and guitar is awesome too.!! im learning bass!! james you rock!!and i already play drums! =)
dude mark james klepaski inspires my bass playing alot(so do getty lee, flea and cliff burton...) he is a damn good bass player you fucking retards. try to pick up a bass and be as good as him

For the same reason no talents like Britany Spears got rich from music. He doesn't really suck but he's far from the best. He has good advice for beginners I guess.
He seems like a really good bassist and Warwick owns, but I don't think he's the best choice for a bass instructor. Nothing against him, but I don't know. This lesson seems kind of strange.
breaking benjamin is an amazing band and if u dont like them thats ur opinion i respect it but thats how the bass really sounds when u play and he really is a good bassist
There's no excuse for it, if you've got the money or the sponsorship to get a bass like that then you should put the effort in to get the actions adjusted or the truss rod for that matter. I play in a drop tuning on my 5 string corvette double buck and as soon as I got it I took it to get tuned and serviced.
ya but he's not like a jazz bassist or anything he plays rock and a lot of rock bassists like a metallic clanky sound like look at feildy from korn, he has so much buzz to his bass he's barely playing notes
fret buzz is common 4 rock bass, it just doesn't matter - nobody can hear it on the stage anyways and during practice you can use it to your benefit. Even John Entwistle had a lot of fret buzz all the time.
But I got another objection: This lesson is totally inpersuasive. I dont know Mark and he just didnt persuade me he plays longer than for like 2 weeks
I grew up with Mark and he started out by playing the drums in a band called Dirty Rythym. Switched to Bass almost immediately and basically self taught himself to play sitting in his room with his friends. What you see on this video is as much charisma as you will get from Mark. He is low key and just very laid back. I remember BB when it was a 3 piece with Ben,Bug and Jeremy.Ahhh The good old days.
Breaking Benjamin are awesome but i would say to all bass players not to do the thumb tapping technique, it is more for regae music not hardcore rock...
I love that shiny bass he plays at the beginning. Looks like a Warwick but Ive never seen a Warwick, or any bass for that matter with a finish like that.
I learnt nothing from this Mark can play alright but id say the best lesson you can ever learn is perfect practice makes perfect its all about hard work not quick fixes
That's not about the instrument - it happens to musicians who use to play on big stages - they just grab the strings more when they dont hear themselves loud enough
Good job Mark. Exercises that if practiced religiously would seem to have someone sounding clean and good in no time. Only thing I have is (since I'm a bass dummie) I was a bit confused on your finger positioning and strings you hit in the slap exercises. Next time just let us know where you're located!! Hah, youre not that bright. All the lessons these guys do are to help out all skill levels. It would seem appropriate that practice techniques get released before BB riffs. Some people are starting out, and Mark has even said that he still uses these techniques to this day. So why wouldn't someone want some help? Maybe something to help improve?

Warwick my eye! They're Spectors, both of 'em (don't argue, I own one)
