  • Wow!! My pinky is the same XD

  • Mark, you are my idol, I picked up bass because of you, keep it up, i love your work, can't wait for your guys' next album, I'm almost 18, and Breaking Benjamin was there at the beginning with me, I got hooked to your stuff since Saturate, and you guys are still my favorite band. Love you all!

  • what's his e-mail?

  • warwick has the best basses i played a few. i do not own one i got fender but if i have the money i will buy a warwick thump!

  • Im a beginning bassist and i saw you guys the 6th at the mosque in Springfield MO. That was a kickass show!

  • que feo sonido por dios.... sacale agudos hdp ! o toca la viola y deja de joder

  • pues el sonido de su bajo, no es malo solo cuestion de gustos, chale q gusto de ofenderse entre musicos !!!!!!!!

  • Its a F***king Warwick streamer!!! ive searched it as i want one .. he owns two streamers, silver and natural, and a music man

  • take a look at the headstock.

there's a "w", this and the shape is typical warwick! ;)

  • Warwick my eye! They're Spectors, both of 'em (don't argue, I own one)

  • No, Spector doesn't do single coil pickups for one plus the headstock is different. There's also a "W"

  • Wrong.

    It's a Warwick Streamer Chrome.

  • Fail...it's a warwick

  • @theryanstorm Dont' think you own one because if you did you would know that this is a warwick. I own a spector too but you have to give a company it's due.

  • so sad that they just have him play the root note of the chords...so much technique he has and all Ben has him do is play a simple root note damn.

  • i think that is a cleveland steamer

  • same hah

  • its a warwick streamer.....and i'd like 2 point out that even using the phrase 'p bass' anywhere near a warwick is blasphamy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok thats not a p bass.. lol what the hell is it ? also you seem to have natural timing, is a metronome still needed in these practices ??

  • wow great simple lesson that i needed !! thank you.. IS THAT A CLEAR P BASS ??? LOL

  • is it just me or are his basses extra long

  • @RhythmDeamon Just 35 inch scale. An inch longer then standard

  • @misanthroposy sorry to correct you but they arent. all warwicks have 34 inch scales, even their 5 strings. his basses seem long because warwick makes their bodys small so that reach on all notes of the neck is possible.

  • @DMBassNVox Sorry to correct you but that isn't true. many warwicks have 35 inchscales

  • @misanthroposy dude go read the website.

  • Even though I'm a drummer at heart, I really do reckon that bassists are too much in the background, and they should be just as important as any guitar.

  • hes a damn great bassist

they suld let him do more stuff in the band

  • this is the greatest video lesson i ve ever seen, this is what i call a excellent lesson , he is so modest, this is how to do

  • his bass is great for playing chromatic haha! get it? "chrome"atic! sorry...

  • .... lol

  • :D:D:D get it? :D

  • you have a metronome right behind you mark! in chad's drum brain haha

  • that's what I thought!

  • That would be 311's Summer of Love at 6:03 wouldn't it.

  • really good exercise..chromatics!

  • shit he uses 3 fingers to pluck the strings!. He inspires me so much on bass. Good video!

  • Fucking awesome bassist XD BB 4 life

  • Man... this guy is sick in the bass!

  • He seems like a real nice guy! and real good at bass, I want to pick up bass now

  • to the dude who hadn't seen a five string, i have one thing to say. Wow.

  • He is a really skilled Bassist. I cant wait for the new Album.

  • WOW i havnet seen a bass with 5 strings! but mabye thats just me....he rocks with a bass!

  • breaking benjamin has got really talented people in their band great singer amazing drums and bass player and guitar is awesome too.!! im learning bass!! james you rock!!and i already play drums! =)

  • ur my idol james...u inspired me alot! i've always listen to ur band too.

  • I want that shiny bass! I'm entranced by it. One of the best bassists around!

  • Warwick Corvette Double Buck i think, i know he plays warwick though.

  • Warwick streamer 2 according to the shallow bay

  • i could not agree with chickun123 ant more

  • dude mark james klepaski inspires my bass playing alot(so do getty lee, flea and cliff burton...) he is a damn good bass player you fucking retards. try to pick up a bass and be as good as him

  • hes why i want to play bass

    AWSOME!!!

  • i love ur bass so shiny :P

  • dumb ass its chomatic exercise

  • he seems nervous, but he does the job as a bass player and some of them are really cool like breakdown

  • This guy is awsome

  • the wood warwick sounded much better...

  • Guys if he sucks so bad why is he making more money then you can count?

  • i agree!

  • god job!

  • He seems like a really good bassist and Warwick owns, but I don't think he's the best choice for a bass instructor. Nothing against him, but I don't know. This lesson seems kind of strange.

Makes me want to learn some BB songs though.

  • Same here. He seemed kinda awkward and nervous.

  • he's really really really high. he's so chilled out.

  • ur awsome but i rly want vocal lessons! lol ur still cool tho Mark :P

  • its a lesson of course its going to be boring

  • why would you drop tune a 5 string? This guy has the action real low and isnt worried about the buzz. Live you cant hear it anyway.

  • Because Guitarist Drop tune lower then Drop B They dont make a Six String with a lower F#

  • lol at like 6:30 when he says to practice it with scales, he tryed doing it and just gave up lol

  • "no musical significance..."

I use similar excercises and to not make them musical is robbing yourself.

    Just my 2c.

  • breaking benjamin is an amazing band and if u dont like them thats ur opinion i respect it but thats how the bass really sounds when u play and he really is a good bassist

  • you must look at the description ^^ he is the bassist of wait^^ breaking benjamin

  • fret buzz anyone

  • its cause hes playing in a drop tuning...unless you raise the strings, a standard bass will buzz when you drop tune it

  • i raise my strings so when i go into drop tuning i dont have that problem. but ik what your saying

  • There's no excuse for it, if you've got the money or the sponsorship to get a bass like that then you should put the effort in to get the actions adjusted or the truss rod for that matter. I play in a drop tuning on my 5 string corvette double buck and as soon as I got it I took it to get tuned and serviced.

  • ya but he's not like a jazz bassist or anything he plays rock and a lot of rock bassists like a metallic clanky sound like look at feildy from korn, he has so much buzz to his bass he's barely playing notes

  • great lesson and nice techniques this video helped a lot thanks but that bass hes using sounds pretty bad at first

  • thats how a good bass sounds you moron

  • very helpful

  • o god!! that thing sounds terrible

  • only if you compare it to traben bass's

  • boozz ya

  • por....

  • 1:23

ITS JAZZY MUSICAL! (haha i dont like jazz)

Mark doesnt know how to explain very well, but i understood all of it! lol

  • kool lessons but god that bass needs a decent setup its as rattly as fook

  • fret buzz is common 4 rock bass, it just doesn't matter - nobody can hear it on the stage anyways and during practice you can use it to your benefit. Even John Entwistle had a lot of fret buzz all the time.

But I got another objection: This lesson is totally inpersuasive. I dont know Mark and he just didnt persuade me he plays longer than for like 2 weeks

  • it nice man......

  • He's a great bassist, I have a lot of respect for him.

  • I grew up with Mark and he started out by playing the drums in a band called Dirty Rythym. Switched to Bass almost immediately and basically self taught himself to play sitting in his room with his friends. What you see on this video is as much charisma as you will get from Mark. He is low key and just very laid back. I remember BB when it was a 3 piece with Ben,Bug and Jeremy.Ahhh The good old days.

  • Don't forget he was with another signed band as well. LIFER!

  • guys this lesson is good but its target is early beginners.....maybe his upcoming parts will include more advanced techniques

  • the most boring man alive and that bass sounds wank!

  • Breaking Benjamin are awesome but i would say to all bass players not to do the thumb tapping technique, it is more for regae music not hardcore rock...

  • it depends how good you are on your playing and how you can compile these techniques with your music...

  • Warwick Corvette Rulez =P

  • I got worse just watching this video.. Horrible technique

  • He's playing a Warwick Streamer bolt on,the finish is called Chrome Tone.

  • that was awesome! i didnt think they would have a bass lesson...lol

    MARK ROCKS! duuuude LOL

i really want to play bass...

  • Wow, he really looked like he was trying while playing those.

  • i didnt learn shit

  • LOL! I don't even play bass and I didn't learn shit either!

    Rock on BB!

  • hes not really very charismatic:P

  • that was a 311 bass line. yea p-nut!!

  • I love that shiny bass he plays at the beginning. Looks like a Warwick but Ive never seen a Warwick, or any bass for that matter with a finish like that.

  • Thats a special edition Warwick Streamer i think. Ive seen one once

  • i would say Mark is a pretty average rock bassist. though, the bassist that i like to hear is Ryan Martinie from Mudvayne.

  • i agree

  • wow that sucks balls

  • I learnt nothing from this Mark can play alright but id say the best lesson you can ever learn is perfect practice makes perfect its all about hard work not quick fixes

  • mark is awesome!!!

  • warwick represent! :]

  • Thats a low action bass, you can hear the strings buzz like hell.

  • That's not about the instrument - it happens to musicians who use to play on big stages - they just grab the strings more when they dont hear themselves loud enough

  • I my not play bass, but I though that this was really cool. So now all's we need is some guitar lessons from Ben and Aaron. Then we're good!

  • his so good..

  • Awesome vid! Too bad I don't have a bass to learn that stuff on. Thanks shallowbay.

  • finaly they showd the bass!!!

bassism is very bad these days....but good video, i learned alot of stuff, all i want is a warwick SO $@&king bad

    keep them going!!!

    i want to learn more!!!

  • Awesome!!! I love BB Marks Rocks!!!

Those are difficult movements that's why he's one of the best bassists of the world

  • Good job Mark. Exercises that if practiced religiously would seem to have someone sounding clean and good in no time. Only thing I have is (since I'm a bass dummie) I was a bit confused on your finger positioning and strings you hit in the slap exercises. Next time just let us know where you're located!! You and Chad are doing some good shit-keep it up, thanks!

  • sweet vid, keep up the good work you guys!

  • Omg, Mark is probably the bess bassist I've ever heard!!

  • Really? Try looking up a guy named Victor Wooten and prepare to be amazed.

  • This wasn't very good, if by any chance someone was going to buy a bass at this time or just because of this vid it may be helpful, but otherwise most people are wanting to hear bb riffs, lesson 2, and will that mean lesson 2 is part 2, I don't see the need.

  • Hah, youre not that bright. All the lessons these guys do are to help out all skill levels. It would seem appropriate that practice techniques get released before BB riffs. Some people are starting out, and Mark has even said that he still uses these techniques to this day. So why wouldn't someone want some help? Maybe something to help improve?

  • even though i dont play bass, i thought this was just sooo COOL! keep the lessons comin, Mark! \m/
