hi there papadoclive. Nice van. I am a single woman about to buy a van and travel. I too will bring a dog for protection. Would love to have a man to show me the ropes on buying a good van and how to fix it up for living.I am in texas. I love camping and am in an apt. now, but out in feb,12. email me at arlingtonnewbie@yahoo.com maybe we can hook up! Just for learning puposes* ;)
@TheKevinorton Yea... They are good for selling and buying a short bus (I.E. the ones mentally challenged ride to school) Rip out the seats buy a matress fix it up a bit and sleep in it... :)
camp grounds can be expensive at 20-30 dollars a day. I suggest getting a gym membership so you can shower and work out. If you get 24 hr fitness they're almost everywhere for 20-30 a month, plus you can swim or work out and shower. Rest stops and wal-marts are great places to park and you get bathrooms, but sometimes you can get by on the side of the street if you're really discrete about it. Good luck.
living the dream:) the closer to nature the better in my opinion. I love how you share your life with your mom, I will be moving out soon, you inspired me to write letters and send pics of my travels to my mom. I'm glad I found your videos!
I need to do this. Just head as far away from home as I can and set up shop somewhere. I have been hearing and reading about van camping for a while and think it is the life for me. Good luck!
You are a real american. This is what people from around the world need to see about us.That we know how to enjoy life and persue hapiness,as i understanded the same as you.
2:04 - "because... uh... she has worms". That made me laugh, not at the dog but they way you said it. There really is only one reason you put worming powder on dog food.
Nice video, I'd love to take a trip and stay in a van.
You have a van build yourself some solar panels MY FAVORITES there is an example. Use a coleman electric ice chest you can have a decent set up to provide power. Solar ovens can provide heat inside the van too many ideas in MY FAVORITES.
i like your set up man!! i'm saving up some money rite now, i found this 73 dodge motore home for only $3500 i'm going to keep lookin as i save up an think about it, peace dude!
Cool setup. Looks like between the storage unit and van, you pretty much have all you need. Good way to improvise when the going gets tough. Looks like when people get caught off guard in the coming economic disaster, you'll be just fine. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. It's my home so I try to take care of it but it can get expensive at times. I got the port o potty from walmart. Not that expensive but great when you need it in the middle of nowhere.
keeping a wide mouth bottle with cap to pee in at night helps also wheres the best parking spots to sleep I know about wallmart and all night book stores. O hay
dont know haw to post a video but type in Colman hot water haeter they have one for $188 makes a nice shawer you can carry with you.
man, i been thinking about doing that too! stay on a campground or something so you can take showers and stuff. you can meet all kinds of people living like that.
@papadoclive What is easier than a campground aslong as you have some type of bathroom system is to just rent a parking spot. Would be pretty cheap I would assume and no one will hassle you about always having the car parked. This is only good if you have the means for it though.
@SalafeeSpot Do you mean rent an actual parking space in a parking lot or like find someone that would rent their driveway? If you mean an actual parking lot spot, how would one go about getting that set up? Are there actually people or businesses that rent out parking spots? From what i hear one of the main downsides of van living is getting harassed by cops. What you suggest solves that problem. I would just keep my van parked permanently and walk, bike or public transit as needed
@answertotodayis1776 Well you could do either. I am from the US but live in Australia now. Parking spots are hard to come by in major Australian cities and it's very common to see apartments come without parking spots. They rent them out to others and even parking garages rent spaces here. Also I have seen this in the US but not nearly as much. Depending on the city your in yes you could rent from a company or person. This would save you from being bothered by the cops.
@SalafeeSpot Thanks for the insight. This has changed my view on van living now. I always liked the idea but thought it would be a hassle trying to find a place to keep the van parked every day/night without drawing attention from the cops, a would be thief or just nosy people. I never considered that a parking spot could be rented long term. That instantly solves those problems. I'll have to check into this more now for pricing and availability. How do you like OZ compared to US?
@answertotodayis1776 Like anywhere Australia has it's ups and downs. The ups here are the abudancy or work and if your unemployed your not forced to homeless or broke. Also if you like hot weather you'd love it here. Down sides are the slow speed limits, slow drivers, drunks who assault people all the time, lack of respect for people non Australian or atheist. Theres enough people like this to say these are not just generalizations. There are cool people down here to though.
@answertotodayis1776 They would rent out the spot to others if you didn't want to pay the 50 dollars a week car spot rent on top of your 1200 dollars a month apartment rent :S. Sorry I didn't add that in my last response.
@ulas1986 after raising three girls, now that their leaving,I want to get a van and spend the rest of my life on the road. This country is beautiful, most die without ever seeing outside of their town,America is amazing, time to hit the road.

247cartheft 8 months ago
@247cartheft Most people will buy an older, used van in good shape, as buying a new car to live in would be impractical.

$6 bucks for a solar shower in any camping store- 5 gallons of water in the sun, and you have a hot shower all night long.
