There've been a few series that rival those (mostly the Bulls/knicks in the mid 90s) but back then it was every year. Check out the "Olajuwon vs. McHale" videos from the 1986 Finals. The two greatest low post players ever battling it out.

McHale was guarded mostly by Ralph Sampson and totally destroyed him. On the other end, Parish couldn't handle Olajuwon's speed, power, and agility, so McHale had to guard him. I think McHale as a defenser was a bit overmatched by Hakeem, but did excellent job -check out the shooting stats.
