@selenetimmer I see several Italian articles that mention a trip to Afghanistan circa the 4th November... but nothing showing them there or that they actually performed there.
If they would have gone, it would likely have been on their official IL VOLO webpage... (good publicity) and I haven't seen anything about it. There are images of IL VOLO performing where ever they go.. but none have shown up from Afghanistan.
Also, I would think that their parents might be nervous about a visit there!
On the 4th of November they were in Rome, in Piazza del Popolo, performing for the Festa delle Forze Armate (Armed Forces Day) the song "E più ti penso". I didn't know about that and I missed them! I am so upset! Few days before, on the 29th of October, at the train station of Cervignano, Aquileia, they sang the Italian National Anthem in the commemorative ceremony of the translation of the body of the Unknown Soldier.

Little Mia was invited to this concert, but her doctors said no. Sitting in the front row were Ignazio's mother Catarina, then Eleanora and Ercole... Gianluca's parents, and Piero's father. Ignazio's father and Piero's mother were not here.

As nice as it is here... on big High Definition TV you can see every hair on the guys heads, it is so crisp and sharp. Also, notice how this is not like the regular videos of the guys (Hasta... IL Mondo, etc) they scan the audience, Detroit PBS pull out all the techno stops to create a GREAT concert. Filming from the nearest thing to an Italian Opera house we have doesn't hurt.
@359gabriela It is not only their spectacular voices, but their kind hearts that is reaching the audience, something that I really haven't seen before in the entertainment world. As these are such young men, it is obvious that this blatant sentimentality is very much still in style in the year 2011. It appeared to have been dying off over the last few decades, but as we can see, they have brought it back to us, thank you boys! Just for the record Elvis Presley adored his mother.
This is one of the best videos with lighting & back ground music & the boys looked very elegant & their singing of course as usual was superb. I want to buy the cd for this pbs recording..If one of those boys were mine I would be sobbing. These handsome boys are pretty amazing...I use that word "amazing" a lot in describing them...its just that they are!!
@MsFlyinglady Yes, it's very touching to see Ignazio singing to his mom! The lady in the video isn't Piero's mom. His mom and dad are in one of the Ti Lascio Una Canzone videos where he sings Mamma. I believe his dad was at the concert in the front row next to Gianluca's dad. The lady Piero was singing to is possibly the mother of Anthony Rugiero, the guy who was next to her. He invited Il Volo to participate in a benefit dinner at the Detroit Opera House.
@elsiegrace4 She's the wife of the owner of Antonio's restaurants in metro Detroit. When IL VOLO came to Detroit for the regular concert at the Detroit Fox Theatre Oct 16, they had a fund rasing banquent afterwards at the Opera House sponsored by Rugiero & other prominent Detroit Italian-Americans.
The night before the Oct 27 PBS DVD concert, IL VOLO did a rehearsal with the 66 piece orchestra. Everyone (IL VOLO + musicians) were invited to a sumptuous Italian banquet at Antonio's afterwards.
