  • this makes me think of driving down the interstate and there are no other cars around, just you. so you drive really slow and stare out the window at the empty road.

  • My god i have been writing french coursework for 3 hours and it has beaten me to a pulp, this song has cheered me up to the point i was smiling rocking from side to side and writing, much love for this guy and his eggs!

  • My name is Sovanny. I listen to this everrrryyyyday.

I'm convinced this song was made for me. <3

  • most heard song on my ipod

  • The Mysterious Production of Eggs perhaps has saved my faith

  • Last night after a peaceful and communal drug experience with close friends and the love of my life, I started to come down and drift to sleep as Sovay filled my ears (as if from nowhere) and took over. I pictured waves and all sorts of indescribable beauty. It was amazing, especially considering I've only heard this song a few times, unlike some of Mr. Bird's other tracks which have been played -millions- of times by me. After that experience, this is has become my favourite song of his by far.

  • This song reminds me of Harry Potter, for some reason. XD

  • the whistling tune reminds me of one flew over the cuckoo's nest *shrug* never read the book, but if its about this song, its a sad book?

  • This song is so good and chill.

  • This song is so good and chill.

  • it's so cute!

  • i love this song

  • This song got me over my depression, listening to it for weeks during subway rides in Japan.

  • @madelinexoxo subway rides in japan with andrew bird's sovay, so lovely!

  • When i was a kid my mother used to sing me a british folk song called "Sovay" about a girl who dressed up as a robber, and robbed her fiancee, to test his love he asked for his gold ring. Even under threat of death he would not relinquish it. Later she gave him back his possessions and told him that if he had given up the ring she would have killed him. the tag line was " Sovay Sovay , All on a day". That folk song inspired Andrew Bird as that line is in the song.

  • his music makes think i'm falling and at the peak of each of his songs i dart right through a cloud

  • It looks like a lama and an ant eater had a baby. I like it.

  • if i ever get married.. i want to walk down the aisle to this song...

  • what exactly is 'sovay'? and while we're on the subject, don't you wish you could just ask mr. bird about what his songs are about? just sit down with a good cup of tea and pick his brain...i bet the answers would be what we least expect!

  • and i believe londonerforrock was referring to this song possibly being about ABOUT a scene in the film, not the song literally being in the film

    simple misunderstanding :}

  • i like that film :}

  • is this song about that scene in 'apocalypse now'?

  • I used to love rap-now listening to this it just kicks rap and heavy metal's ass! Brilliant-LOVE Andrew Bird now!

  • @winstonjoelrgangstas yup,, way more chill than anything eles and also better

  • I thought he was saying "So vain" this song has changed so much for me.

  • this song makes me want to hear the ride of the valkyries

  • in this song he kind of reminds me of a male regina spektor, don't know why :)

but i love the mood of his songs, and this ones lovely.

  • Same, about the regina spektor! :]

  • could anyone possibly find the lyrics on this?

  • Comment removed

  • Andrew Bird's music makes me think of being on a train

looking out over the countryside just as it starts to rain. not trying to sound all deep and profound, it just does. I love it.

  • don't worry, you've wholly avoided any profundity.

  • gee thanks , haha

  • I never once thought of it like that but that definetly captures the mood of alot of his slower music perfectly

  • @fashionandmusic921 I did that when we took the train from London to Scotland for a school trip. It was several hours and the rain was just a drizzle, perfect time for andrew bird :)

  • Wow, sounds lovely...

  • @fashionandmusic921 sure was =)

  • omg wtf is that thing ?

  • A llama? :p

  • idk... but I want one!

  • a device used by andrew bird to cause us to ask that very question!

I kinda like it tho :3

  • @RLYjake it mysteriously produces eggs, what else is there to know?

  • @RLYjake It's the Noble Beast. ^____^

  • @RLYjake I think its an echidna with long legs that rolled around in cactus juice and got cold and needed a blanket.

  • love the song. ive read the book Sovay. it is really good if you havent read it yet.

  • I'd like to read it. What's the author's name?

  • @pops4beats I don't know if it's the same one that kagomessoul is talking about, but Celia Rees has written a book by the name of Sovay. It reads really well so far; you should check it out. :3

  • @KaddieX Thanks for the info! <3 It's most probably the same book. Hopefully my library has it! :)

  • @KaddieX

I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that the book by Celia Rees came out a few years after this song. However, Sovay may be referring to a folk tale about a woman who dresses as a man to test the love of men.

  • @pops4beats Celia Rees

  • @kagomessoul I have read the book too. It was fantastic :)

  • @kagomessoul Sovay was an old old folk song, from what I can remember (I think we looked at it in school), about a woman that dresses up as a highwayman and robs her suitor - he gives her everything he has but refuses to hand over the ring she (Savoy) gave him - a test of love, if you will...

  • @MagicalMelv I like comments where I learn something. I had no idea the origins of this song. Thanks.

  • andrew bird ruined other bands for me. now ima always be comparing them to him and they wont meet the expactations.

    andrew bird is perfect.

  • I know, it saves you time though, Bird is all you need :)

  • Great song!! Really pretty

    ________

I play the acoustic guitar and I came up with some chords for this song.

If you play the guitar please tell me what you think of these chords for the song: C, G, Dminor, F

    Thanks!

  • I don't play the guitar, but maybe someone else could help you with that.

    Good luck.

  • oh, thanks!

  • I couldn't get this video to load

  • hm, something must be wrong with your connection. It's showing okay on my side.

  • this guy chillz me so........luv his sound!!

  • Personally, the intro reminds me of The Little Mermaid's songs :d

  • One of my favourites of his. Just very calm and beautiful.

  • I love this song. NPR has some very good stuff if you listen at the right times.

  • yay! andrew bird!

  • I first heard this guy on National Public Radio in the US. It's an interview worth looking up at NPR org. His performance on that show captured me. This track, Sovay, was at the beginning of the album when I bought it. I just sat there in the parking lot, falling in love.

You would think with almost 1500 views that more than six people would have rated it or at least one would take the time to comment...
