  • WOW thats fast

  • wow... the 2010 chevy impala lt tops at 112 mph! ha! fair with it. but just to know, the impala accelaerates at 0-60 in 8.8 sec and yours goes from 0-60 in 11.1 sec. Just based on information that i took.

  • Did he specify Vulcan or Duratech engine...I have the standard Vulcan in mine, but I don't push mine to that speed, so I wouldn't know by the sound...

  • @Crazcompart He has the Vulcan

  • You get better acceleration if you climb gears by putting it in 1st and going almost red line then 2nd and so on... My gl topped higher than 110, maybe 135ish... Thats just where the speedo stops...

  • taurus sho

  • wow...I have a 97 Taurus and have never reached 110mph. Thats amazing.

  • surprised it can even get to 110

  • @thevet67 Lol why are you suprised that a ford taurus can get to 110? My dad has a BMW and it can get up to 140!!

  • @luis234235 my dads camaro does 8 seconds down the quarter mile fag= 100 hp

  • @thevet67 Well the thing is that it depends on the manufactor lol

  • @luis234235 Well it really doesn't depend on the manufactor cause I remember that I saw yestuday a ford taurus 1996 and it ran up to 150!! So I think that It depends the type of engine that the car has cause some autos have SHO engines which makes the car run very fast with a smooth push on the gas.

  • @luis234235 fucking idiot no stock camaro can do 8 seconds down the quarter mile

  • My passat goes guicker like that! lol

  • I have a 1996 Taurus G sedan. This car is BASIC doesn come with ABS no power locks or cruise control. it has 79,000 original miles and when it starts up cold its shift outta 1st get stuck in neutral then u have to rev it up and it "clunks" into 2nd but when its warms up after 5 minutes it drives like new. what could be wrong?

  • @Papianni2 Dude are you kiddding that it only has 79,000 miles???? 79,000 miles is great!! I currently have a ford taurus 1997 and it has right now 124,320 miles.

  • @luis234235 hah mine has 173k miles and it runs great.....when i get my drivers licenses im gunna hit the race track and hit top speed.....cant wait!!!!

  • 0-60 in 10.5

    0-110 in 48.5

should've kept it in D instead of OD until about 105, cuz that'll shave quite a few seconds off

  • lol 0-60 in 10 seconds.

  • hey i had a 96 gl i could only go like 106 max did u do anything to make it go to 110? and its a 12 valve and my rpm goes to red line on evry gear even when im going at 90 sum so i think its normal

  • Ohhhhnnnnooo! SO slow... Too bad :?

  • we have one i hate the freakin thing we just changed a windshield washer tube on it today its a 97 too got about 160K gonna get a ford edge this spring

  • I got a 1997 Ford Taurus GL, with around 110K miles as well. It's waa too sluggish getting from 0 - 40mph (there again, its a freiken taurus). but from 50mph and up it accelerates pretty quickly.

  • a taurus with the 24 valve would take care of your 95 buick.

  • i got a 98 with the same 3.0 12v engine with 214k miles on it with no problems and itll still do 110. question though...after i let off the gas and put it in neutral...why do the rpms stay at 4 grand? jw if anyone could help with that..

  • LOL i do 110 on the highway everyday.

  • You were on Overdrive right?

  • its an auto-overdrive so yeah

  • Alright thanks =)

  • a question, we have a 1997 ford taurus GL... when accelerating fully, it shifts at around 3700 RPMS... why?? yours shifted after 5000.... the transmission was replaced about a year ago.... ?? :(

  • I am no expert but maybe its something in ur ECU. It might be limiting you to 3700 cuz i know when ur in neutral it will limits you to around 3700-4000 to protect your transition incase you drop it. I would look in to all the wiring you did and if that's not it they have tho's car performance chips and it will make ur rev limiter go to like 6.1k or something ive read.

  • It could be a bent intake valve. I had a '93 Cougar that did the same thing and that seemed to be the issue. Unfortunately the engine went to car hell three days after I figured it out, but oh well...

  • Dude... you have a GL, thus a Pushrod engine. An unmodified Pushrod engine isn't going to stand up to that kind of abuse. you can rev ANY SHO (v6 or v8) up past 8000 rpm. The only reason the redline is so low while installed in the car is to keep from destroying power steering pump, alternator etc. The Vulcan engine is basically not even worth modifying, if you were shifting at those revs you would never see maximum torque. The SHOs and Duratecs make max torque at 4800.

  • Ur dumb i have a ford Taurus G not GL.

  • You don't know shit about me.

Look, very few people even know what a SHO is. Even fewer know the distinction between a G,GL or an SE.

Either way, if you want to go 'fast' go get a damned Probe GT or a Contour with a v6 since their is actually something resembling a real aftermarket for these cars.

Even better, go find something else that won't need a new transmission this time next year because no matter what you're Gen3 Taurus you're driving all the transmissions are pieces of shit.

  • Let's see... your speedometer reads 110. Gen3's have 3 demarcations. 110 (like yours), 120 (like DuraTecs) and 150 (like SHOs).

So basically, you're telling me you don't have Mr. Spock's favorite engine in the bay? OK, Andy Granatelli so be it. Honestly, if my car had rear drum brakes I would be too depressed to ever talk about it.

See ya' at the dragstrip Don Garlits! LMAO.

By the way, your car sounds like your pouring huge ball bearings out the back when you get over 100 m/ph Cpt Autobahn.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO, he just wanted to show his car hitting 110...who said hes trying to be a racer? i dont know why you come in here so fucking anal...you just like being a dick to everyone? id take the vulcan over the duratech...they are a hell of a lot stronger...have fun dealing with the fucking blown head gasket that your v8 sho is notorious for.

  • Won't be happening. Anyway, I could throw that damned Gen3 SHO away tomorrow and not think a thing of it, they only cost like $2,000 dollars now.

Plus, I'm pretty sure you're referring to the cam sprockets slipping not the head gaskets. Mine have been welded already

Talking about Vulcans is a non-issue. BESIDES, this muthafucka started it with me and not the other way around and here you go with your 'hate speech'. Even if, my head gaskets did blow I can afford to fix it.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  • My 95 buick lesabre with 190,000 miles on it would waste this car . The only mods that I have are flowmaster dual exhaust, cai and its chiped. It also has 18 inch wheels with goodyear Eagles.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO lol i got a 1999 ford ranger 3.9 145 hp its not very fast

  • Hmm, if it only has 145HP then probably not. Traditionally, trucks are more about torque than horsepower or speed. I gotta get out of here. I noticed some "hate notes" sent my way. I'm just trying to help this genius that's calling ME a dummy some sound advice before he blows the transmission on his pushrod Taurus.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO dont bitch me out for asking, but doesnt the alternator have a voltage regulator so it doesnt get destroyed at high rpm? and doesnt the water pump, power steering, ect. have a clutch to maintain a certain margin of stability and control on those parts?

  • @localdu. Well of course man. The engineers at Ford are not stupid. They know that they have to design systems to withstand some abuse. Having said that, do you know what a Noble M400 is? Well, it is basically a 'Supercar' and it has the same DuraTec as the Gen3 Taurus. I really doubt that Noble is using many of the same components Ford does AND they use a Getrag tranny in the car.

ALL Gen3 Taurus trannies that Doug Lewis or Certified Trans have not touched are Pieces of crap. Change the ATF.

  • "The Vulcan engine is basically not even worth modifying"

    @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO

LOL! Ever see the 3.0 Vulcan dropped in an MG with a turbo? Yeah... Easily make 250+ HP.

  • @bgoins12 Oh yeah! #1- I can just see the 20 year old dorks driving Vulcan equipped Taurus cars around surfing craigslist looking for Fiats, Fairladys and MGs to do engine swaps #2- All the people that have successfully installed Mazda rotaries (THAT CAN EASILY TAKE 25 POUNDS OF BOOST!) and looking for P.O.S. Vulcans.

Yeah man... I'm gonna get right on it! SMFH. GTFOHWTHBS. Anything can be modified but... WHY fuck with this FWD,OHV,POS with a pussy box for a transmission?

  • @bgoins12 Now, Smokey Yunick. You tell me. How much horsepower can I get out of my V8 SHO, my V6 SHO or my V6 Probe if I gave a fuck to turbocharge any of these cars? Not that I give a fuck to do it but people have already done 400,500 and 500+ respectively. Suffice to say that when people who do engine mods/swaps/forced induction for real the LAST fucking thing that crosses their mind is Mr. Spock's favorite Vulcan power plant.

  • @bumblebee1247 it's the speed sensor gone bad, replace it and it'll shift right before the red line. or if you want to get to top speed as fast as you can, shift manually.

  • wow. u took a stock taurus to 110. yea i got a 98 with a good motor for sale. so when u blow yours doin this let me know and i'll sale it to ya. it's a family sedan, i hope u don't do this alot. that 12V 3.0 won't take much of this.

  • It will take that all day. The 3.0L is built like a tank. However, the transmission can't take that all day.

  • the 3.0L is not built like a tank. u know how many of these i've seen that were either knocking, burning oil, burning coolant and or just plain worn out?? c'mon now. it's an engine built for a commuter car, next time u wanna make a statement try it to some kid not someone who makes a living workin on these exact same cars.

  • I have been around engines my whole life and maybe you got a bad batch but every 3.0L engine I came across has run as smooth as butter even when the crappy Ford AXOD Transmissions blow out all the time. The 3.8L when Ford first started to mount Aluminum heads on an iron block turned out catastrophic though when they failed to use good head gaskets.

  • Since I made the video ive put on another 96 thousand miles without a problem. Nothing has gone wrong with my engine. All it takes is regular maintenance by the book that's what makes ur cars last. 205680k miles right now.

  • i agree with svt lincoln the 3.0 is far from a tank we maintained ours jperfectly and by 170k it fwas gettin new parts twice a month and we dumped 1500 dollars into that motor in 8 months time and then it threw a rod and the car was not driven hard ever

  • bad ass man! mine cant kick out more then 103 X( its in pretty bad shape too.

    sweet ass ride!

  • Sounds like its time for a tuneup!

  • gota change your transmission fluid every 30k or they dont last but if you you will be surprized how far these babies will go

  • i just got this as my first car and i'm actually pretty surprised at how fast it got up to 70

  • This is the base 3.0 12V Vulcan Right? And does it feel pretty stable at 110? Mine felt decent at around 95 MPH. I need to try this sometime.

  • yeah its the 3.0 stock. i have new Goodyear tripletreds on it. but yes it is stable i can do 1 handers holding the camera easy.
