alright someone please help me out. im on my first play through and i don't have any magics yet. but i do have the purple flame shield and a ring of fire resistance. so please can some one give me a good strategy to beat him with getting magics? .
im a level 28 or so magician. what is the recommended level for this dude?i have a level 2 scimiter,and heater shield - 3. five hits from me has the same power as one hit for this guy in the video
i trained really hard to get to this demon without so much difficult, i worked an knight till soul lvl 59 with brushwood set, purple flame shield+9 and quality long sword+4 that this battle was the most easy in all the game, i started using enchanting sword magic but after i see how easy it was i just started playing with flamelurker, next time i will take it more relaxed xD
Funny how people think this game is hard as fuck, when the only think you really need to do is ¨learn from your mistakes´; i hated that motherfucker like the worst enemy i could ever encounter in a videogame, but when u start seeing your mistakes, and start learning from them, don´t doing spam rollings like a monkey, not making unnecesaries risks and seeing the patterns of attack of the enemy, hell, you can even score a perfect kill in this fucker... believe me when i say this.
Hit & run tactics work well here, I used a winged spear because it's reach is useful. Wait for him to use his big leaping attack and hit him while he recovers, using a spear allows you to keep a good distance while still doing some good damage. Roll away after attacking.
I'd also recommend sticking to the large open areas where you won't get cornered because that would be very bad.
Flame shield and flame resistance ring are very useful but if you time your dodges well you won't need them.
At first Flamelurker kicked the living shit out of me while being at SL 20. I levelled up to SL 46, equipped the purple flame shield en ring of flame resistance and tried again. The first try he got lucky, the second try i pwnd his ass like a mad man. Used the enchant weapon spell, cleared my armor so i could dodge faster and he was done in a matter of a minute. No ranged attacks or shit like that, just melee. Damn, that felt epic!!
got dark souls and also. When i stepped into this arena. No armor or flame resistant equipment whatsoever. It took me three hours to beat him and it was epic
guys, look all you have to have is the purple fire shield a good spell cast or melle weapon and be locked on the whole time basically all you have to do is use the pillairs to advantage when he does his huge fire aattack get behind it block the fire and heal up if needed and bring the ring of flame resistance too thumbs up so everyone could see i killed him first try using this method.
@joaomatheusMS well you can get one at the dragon's nest if you have a certain world tendency i'd say you should hurry cuz i got my shield in the current one
@StormusMaximusz You can find the purple flame shield at the dragon roost in 1-1. The world tendency is pure white until Oct 18th, so you should be able to just walk up and grab it (just don't kill Miralda first).

for me ,this is the hard monster to beat, i dead infinity times until i kill them, its very hard ,and the only thing you can do with his souls is blacksmith, very hard for the reward you got.....
if ur having that much difficulty defeating this boss, just go to the ribs on the left, go in them, and make sure the flamelurker is on the other side, he will just keep running and running and wont move, u can just cast spells or arrows at him, but dont get too close
so does the Demon own a soul, which owns something else?

Theres a little trick to this boss if u wish to do it, on the left side of where you enter the fog, there's some ribs there, if u can get the flamelurker just outside the ribs while ur inside he willsit in that same spot, u can just spam ur magic/ bow attacks, just dont get too close. I found this out in my 3rd playthrough.

it is "freakin' hard" to me since i'm on NG+ and fighting in soul form with low hp (to get PWWT for DBS) i guess a knight could use some homing soul arrows and/or a moon knight sword :)
I suppose he was pretty easy. But this boss fight was FUCKING awesome. This dude is fierce..and that music just inspires hopeless defeat. I love you demons souls...
@BlissKira You can get magic weapon from the wizard anytime for 5000 souls. For the soul arrow you need to kill the Fool's Idol and give its demon souls to Sage Freke - if you have rescued him in the Tower of Latria-.
O...M...G... why the hell is everyone saying this is the hardest boss or one of the hardest??? When i saw the comments here i thought "fuck im gonna get so pwned.." I got there with my purple shield and my soul arrow (you may call me pussy but magic is also part of the game and my class IS magician) so i just ran around blocking, his atackes didnt do any damage, i only got hit once without the shield and i killed him so easily that i even got angry at people who said its freeeeakin hard-.-
flamelurker is had if your unprepared. to magic users he is very easy. just run around blocking casting soul arrow/soul ray and its cake. if your melee oriented, its harder. since flamelurker is highly resistant to physical attack, you only do around 30+ damage per hit. magic is his weakness. just like how the first boss's weakness was fire. if you dont use fire, its a harder fight.
@diorockzhell OK flamelurker is hard for melee fighters.....he is weak to spells and his attacks are easy to dodge from distance so yeah.....but for exaple what exactly would you do if you were melee and had to face that combo 2:52 ?? There is no easy boss until you get used to the game and no hard boss after you get used to it....thats how it goes really
This boss makes you stressful. His growls combined with this music is a killer!!! It makes your heart pound like crazy from fear!!! Indeed a boss for the ages!

@pedronied Sure, but I'm in NG+ and my SL is 77. According to the official calculcation scheme your SL has to be within 60 to 94 range, you wouldn't even see my sign otherwise. Additionally, I'm not sure about NG+ vs NG either...
What I did was lure him to the spine near the entrance and get him behind it then go in front of the bones. This will make him run at you but he'll be trapped behind the bones and you can still hit him :D just be careful if he gets out!
The first time I fought this guy, I was having some difficulties beating him. The time I finally beat him was when I muted the game and played Dragonforce's Through the Fires and the Flame on my ipod dock.
@AxelTheTerminator I honestly like it either way. Multiplayer is kind of comical to me. The way two strangers go on a long adventure. A sense of brotherhood forms.

@JinkMcDyler thats not bad just go farm the reaper in 4-2 for maybe 10 minutes and you will have more than that takes 5 fire arrows to kills him and then jump off the cliff behind you and rinse and repeat
The description makes me laugh. Like beating it certain ways is dishonorable or unworthy lol yet his way makes him tough. I feel bad for those without his setup who can't just use a shield to block those blasts, not sure how they'll be able to beat this and earn this guy's respect.
@BeardedPriest You get it in 1-1 from the area where the blue dragon is resting. Kill the red dragon with a bow from the top of the tower on the bridge in 1-2 and then once it's dead the blue dragon should leave the area and you can then go back to 1-1 and pick up the shield from the ground without getting pwned by a couple of dragons.

Everyone kept saying you get in 1-1 and it was listed as a possible red eye knight drop... so i figured i rape that guy a couple times and he'd drop it... but he never did... whoah, the dragon can actually be killed, before an event of some kind? I have a crossbow and like a hundred bolts, will that be enough and also some soul arrows/ rays? And which tower is it, exactly...
@BeardedPriest It depends on how much damage your bow does, you may want to have 300 just to be safe. The first tower on the 1-2 bridge is a good place. It can be tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it.
Conversly, if you get pure white world tendency in boletaria, the dragons will disappear from the nest. But that may be hard since you can't go online as a blue phantom right now.

The dark silver shield is one of the best shields in the game, but obtaining it can be hard for some players. The adjucator's shield is also good(especially for lower level players.) If you get a regenerator ring it can be very useful.
@BlatentIgn0rance nha,beating Garl Vinland is not that hard,you should be ver careful not to fall off or let garl vinland push you off.If you fall in swamp,plague babies will swarn you.I killed Garl with fire spray and only 26 magic points stayng back from him.Imho hardest bosses are False King Allant and Maneater and a bit hard also is flamelurker.
@4ragorn08 I agree, Garl vinland isn't that hard, neither is bp really. But some people might have trouble getting through 5-2 to get to him (not me lol I already beat the game a few times.)
Falso King Allant is really hard because it's so hard to dodge him. And Maneater is extremely hard unless you do a high amount of damage. Imo the hardest boss is old monk, but only if you play online.

I was a knight, and the player fighting me was a wuss who kept trying to keep his distance and poke me with magic arrows. After I caught on to his game, I cornered him and KA-POWIE!!! Battle was over in fifty-nine seconds.
You think HE'S the hardest boss- the REAL asshat is the Flamelurker, because once you get on your second playthrough, he breaks your guard in one hit and rips you in the next.
@Escalfadosify I guess the Old Monk depends on the builds being used. My first playthrough I had a rounded build (which was barely decent at PvE and horrible at PvP) and went against a strength build who had a North Regalia...I was OHKO'd
Seriously? He's worse in NG+? I haven't started a NG+ yet due to finals and I was waiting for my friends (who decided to play without me)
@BlatentIgn0rance I apologize, that sounds like it bloody sucked. But yeah, I suppose I count lucky for getting such a weak opponent. But I rely much on armor and protective wards when fighting bosses, and even though I had my tendency nearly ALL THE WAY white, and had a fire resistant ring, shield, and spell on, he kept smushing me, because as you know, heavier armor means slower movement, so I had no choice but to block, which never went well.
Demon's souls is legendary because of its difficulty. Sure some may glitch, have a friend do it for them, or even use overpowered magic. But in the end they're just cheating themselves out of the experience. The satisfaction alone is worth the challenge.
I hate it when people post strategies of using glitches to defeat the bosses and act like they fairly beat them... X.x
Man up! It's not that hard to dodge most boss attacks with a simple roll. Don't spam magic from afar and act like that takes any amount of skill either.
When I started facing the demons upfront in this game instead of with lame tactics, it became even more awesome!
@w00tzor25 What you're saying is true in many cases, I agree. However, it's not that simple with Flamelurker. Even if you roll (*without* being weighed down), the area effect of his explosive strikes can often hit you. When his health gets low, he becomes much more aggressive and uses these "nuke punches" more frequently. To top it all off, this room's camera angles often fuck you up by obscuring your view at crucial moments. Don't fight cheaply, but DO use columns to slow him down.
@scarabmango You act like I've never killed Flamelurker before lol, which I have. Many, many, many, many times lol (<3 this game so much). But it's really not hard AT ALL to roll his explosions, seriously, AT ALL. The only attack that can be troublesome to roll is one of regular sweeping punches, which just requires practice with timing, like all other things with this game.

it is "freakin' hard" to me since i'm on NG+ and fighting in soul form with low hp (to get PWWT for DBS) i guess a knight could use some homing soul arrows and/or a moon knight sword :)

@BlissKira You can get magic weapon from the wizard anytime for 5000 souls. For the soul arrow you need to kill the Fool's Idol and give its demon souls to Sage Freke - if you have rescued him in the Tower of Latria-.

O...M...G... why the hell is everyone saying this is the hardest boss or one of the hardest??? When i saw the comments here i thought "fuck im gonna get so pwned.." I got there with my purple shield and my soul arrow (you may call me pussy but magic is also part of the game and my class IS magician) so i just ran around blocking, his atackes didnt do any damage, i only got hit once without the shield and i killed him so easily that i even got angry at people who said its freeeeakin hard-.-

flamelurker is had if your unprepared. to magic users he is very easy. just run around blocking casting soul arrow/soul ray and its cake. if your melee oriented, its harder. since flamelurker is highly resistant to physical attack, you only do around 30+ damage per hit. magic is his weakness. just like how the first boss's weakness was fire. if you dont use fire, its a harder fight.

@diorockzhell OK flamelurker is hard for melee fighters.....he is weak to spells and his attacks are easy to dodge from distance so yeah.....but for exaple what exactly would you do if you were melee and had to face that combo 2:52 ?? There is no easy boss until you get used to the game and no hard boss after you get used to it....thats how it goes really

I killed that mofo 3 times before - as a blue phantom myself : D Earned myself some nice reputation amongst other players who were struggling with that thing as well : )

@pedronied Sure, but I'm in NG+ and my SL is 77. According to the official calculcation scheme your SL has to be within 60 to 94 range, you wouldn't even see my sign otherwise. Additionally, I'm not sure about NG+ vs NG either...

What I did was lure him to the spine near the entrance and get him behind it then go in front of the bones. This will make him run at you but he'll be trapped behind the bones and you can still hit him :D just be careful if he gets out!

The description makes me laugh. Like beating it certain ways is dishonorable or unworthy lol yet his way makes him tough. I feel bad for those without his setup who can't just use a shield to block those blasts, not sure how they'll be able to beat this and earn this guy's respect.

@BeardedPriest You get it in 1-1 from the area where the blue dragon is resting. Kill the red dragon with a bow from the top of the tower on the bridge in 1-2 and then once it's dead the blue dragon should leave the area and you can then go back to 1-1 and pick up the shield from the ground without getting pwned by a couple of dragons.

Everyone kept saying you get in 1-1 and it was listed as a possible red eye knight drop... so i figured i rape that guy a couple times and he'd drop it... but he never did... whoah, the dragon can actually be killed, before an event of some kind? I have a crossbow and like a hundred bolts, will that be enough and also some soul arrows/ rays? And which tower is it, exactly...

@BeardedPriest It depends on how much damage your bow does, you may want to have 300 just to be safe. The first tower on the 1-2 bridge is a good place. It can be tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it.
Conversly, if you get pure white world tendency in boletaria, the dragons will disappear from the nest. But that may be hard since you can't go online as a blue phantom right now.
If you have any questions, there's an in-depth demon's souls wiki that has info on EVERYTHING.

There is a third way to get the purple shield on 1-1 without killing the dragon or get pure white world tendency.
You can just walk on the bridge and attract the dragon here,then run back and drop the shield from the corpse in the blue dragon area.
Anyway i don't know why demon's souls players search this shield,it is not that good.I highly recommend the adjucator's shield or dark silver shield.

The dark silver shield is one of the best shields in the game, but obtaining it can be hard for some players. The adjucator's shield is also good(especially for lower level players.) If you get a regenerator ring it can be very useful.

@BlatentIgn0rance nha,beating Garl Vinland is not that hard,you should be ver careful not to fall off or let garl vinland push you off.If you fall in swamp,plague babies will swarn you.I killed Garl with fire spray and only 26 magic points stayng back from him.Imho hardest bosses are False King Allant and Maneater and a bit hard also is flamelurker.

@4ragorn08 I agree, Garl vinland isn't that hard, neither is bp really. But some people might have trouble getting through 5-2 to get to him (not me lol I already beat the game a few times.)
Falso King Allant is really hard because it's so hard to dodge him. And Maneater is extremely hard unless you do a high amount of damage. Imo the hardest boss is old monk, but only if you play online.

@BlatentIgn0rance Nonsense. I came to the Old Monk online, and I crushed him in the first match. I was a knight, and the player fighting me was a wuss who kept trying to keep his distance and poke me with magic arrows. After I caught on to his game, I cornered him and KA-POWIE!!! Battle was over in fifty-nine seconds.
You think HE'S the hardest boss- the REAL asshat is the Flamelurker, because once you get on your second playthrough, he breaks your guard in one hit and rips you in the next.

@Escalfadosify I guess the Old Monk depends on the builds being used. My first playthrough I had a rounded build (which was barely decent at PvE and horrible at PvP) and went against a strength build who had a North Regalia...I was OHKO'd
Seriously? He's worse in NG+? I haven't started a NG+ yet due to finals and I was waiting for my friends (who decided to play without me)

@BlatentIgn0rance I apologize, that sounds like it bloody sucked. But yeah, I suppose I count lucky for getting such a weak opponent. But I rely much on armor and protective wards when fighting bosses, and even though I had my tendency nearly ALL THE WAY white, and had a fire resistant ring, shield, and spell on, he kept smushing me, because as you know, heavier armor means slower movement, so I had no choice but to block, which never went well.
Maybe I'll try a...lighter approach for NG+.

Demon's souls is legendary because of its difficulty. Sure some may glitch, have a friend do it for them, or even use overpowered magic. But in the end they're just cheating themselves out of the experience. The satisfaction alone is worth the challenge.

I hate it when people post strategies of using glitches to defeat the bosses and act like they fairly beat them... X.x
Man up! It's not that hard to dodge most boss attacks with a simple roll. Don't spam magic from afar and act like that takes any amount of skill either.
When I started facing the demons upfront in this game instead of with lame tactics, it became even more awesome!

@w00tzor25 What you're saying is true in many cases, I agree. However, it's not that simple with Flamelurker. Even if you roll (*without* being weighed down), the area effect of his explosive strikes can often hit you. When his health gets low, he becomes much more aggressive and uses these "nuke punches" more frequently. To top it all off, this room's camera angles often fuck you up by obscuring your view at crucial moments. Don't fight cheaply, but DO use columns to slow him down.

@scarabmango You act like I've never killed Flamelurker before lol, which I have. Many, many, many, many times lol (<3 this game so much). But it's really not hard AT ALL to roll his explosions, seriously, AT ALL. The only attack that can be troublesome to roll is one of regular sweeping punches, which just requires practice with timing, like all other things with this game.
