  • Wonderful!

  • Mmh, je pense que ce n'est pas le cas, mais si quelqu'un aurait une tab guitaresque de cette musique?.. Je galère à l'oreille, je me suis retrouvé à me désaccorder d'1/4 de ton...

Err, I don't think someone did that, but if you know a tab of that music, I ask you to send it to me. I can't do it just with ear...

  • great job man

  • Very nice

  • this instrument calls to me like a child to it's mother XD

I have such a hunger for music yet I can't seem to be able to learn any of the classical intruments besides the harmonica :/

But this seems perfect for me for some reason, rather pricey intrument range though, at least for me XD

So how much would one have to expect to spend on software for this other than the included instruments? (approximately).

Wouldn't be able to buy one a bit cheaper second hand of you? :)

  • @88Kamikaze69 the Eigenharp ships with a collection of very useful instruments, you can do a lot with it out of the box. After that it's really up to you what you buy, the best possible deal for your money is probably Native Instruments Komplete which costs about €500 and gives you more high quality sounds for all kinds of music styles than you'll be able to explore in your lifetime ;-)

  • 88Kamikaze69, agree with gbevin, Komplete is a wonderfull package, and if u want to get it cheaper wait till the summer NI always make some offers then.

  • Scandal that you didnt win the competition.

  • @Mrsynthguy thanks! :-) On the other hand I'm now working as a software developer at Eigenlabs, that's actually much more valuable to me!

  • @gbevin I agree with Mrsynthguy that it is a scandal, but they had thier own way to face the competition. I loved ur first video, with the electric guitar which realy sounds as one. U r the one who used the dinamic in the best way and Ibought one of the Pico's after waching ur videos (after many months of waiting is finally compatible with windows too...)

  • Amazing. lol, I think you just convinced me to drop another $700 on equipment. Keep up the awesome work.

  • whow, thank you for sharing

  • It's still weird to hear a piano coming from an instrument your blowing into lol but fantastic job i loved it!

  • Wahou je suis carrément fan! C'est super joli :) Merci pour ce moment de détente gbevin ;)

  • @theweg1234 Merci pour le compliment! Je suis content que ça te plait! :-)

  • Hey! This was uploaded on my birthday!

  • @TheSnub habby birthday! ;-)

  • Very very impressive. It confirms the fact that I am going to buy to myself a pico in the next days. Thank you for this magnificent moment... What a talent!

  • @zefrantz Thanks :-)

  • HOLY FUCK YOU SICK AT THAT THING!!!

  • @michaelaaronmahoney thanks! Soon I'll have the Alpha, the big one ... and on to some gigs with it! Stay tuned! :-)

  • Fantastique, quelle maitrise en si peu de temps,

    j'adore

  • @nonomamie C'est gentil, merci!

  • Amazing! To think I had doubts about the possibilities with the pico! One can only imagine what just a few Eigenharps put together are capable of!!! This here is the future of music!

  • I have this dream of using two Eigenharp Alpha's in the band that I have with my girlfriend, both using the microphone input also ... that would open up so many possibilities! :-)

    Thanks for you encouraging comment!

  • Geert... of all your entries this is for sure the one that I like the most... congratulations man!!! Keep on doing such a nice work and thanks for your support in the forums.

    Cheers mate.

    Carlos

  • Thanks Carlos, that means a lot coming from a fellow Eigenharp Pico player :-)

    Take care,

    Geert

  • Wonderful, thrilling. Even better than your other compositions (if possible... I though the previous ones were perfect but this one even surpases them!)

Truly, you deserve the Alpha. Hope you come to Spain to show your talent :-)

  • Thanks a lot :-)

Once I have an Alpha, I'll start integrating it in my band and our gigs. I'll let you know when (more like, if) we start touring in Spain. Would love to though! :-)

  • I love watching everyone progress on there pico.

It is like watching a flower bloom in stop motion photography.

gbevin, not so much a flower as a very manly thistle. Us Americans are such homophobes I had to add the disclaimer.

  • Thanks Synthacus, it's nice to see your continued interest :-)

  • You definitely saved the best for last. This is where your musicianship shines through, IMO. Thanks!

How are you sequencing/looping parts in general? I know the Alpha has a built-in sequencing/looping feature but does the Pico as well, or are you triggering your computer's sequencer/looper to record/start? Also, aside from the huge difference in price for a Pico, how are these instruments different than other devices like the Starr Labs Ztar instruments/controllers?

  • Hi, thanks for your compliments!

The Eigenharp instruments are all using the EigenD software that runs on your computer, this has looping and recording built in that is driven by the buttons on the instruments. In 'Winter Movement' however I'm not using any loops, just layering.

  • I've never played the Ztar, but at a first glance the keys are just pads. The Eigenharp keys are unique and feel 'real'. They move in all directions (pressure, left-right, up-down) and give you instant access to expressive feature right under your finger tips. Of course you have the strip and breath controller also, but those are just a nice bonus. Finally, if you use the internal instruments or the native sampler, you really feel the fine resolution of the internal protocol as opposed to MIDI.

  • Beautiful piece - I have to agree with the zencones comment - you are a great ambassador for the Eigenharp :-) Good luck with competition!

  • Thanks a lot, much appreciated!

  • Probably my favorite of your songs so far, simply because 2:35 to 3:20 sounds amazing.

I noticed that sometimes there is a drum sound in that particular section and sometimes there is not. Are you playing the drum sound each time or is it a loop? It looks to me like when you press hard it makes the drum sound and if you press soft it doesn't.

Do the instruments played from 2:35 to 3:20 come with the pico or did you download them?

  • Thanks a lot for your comment :-)

All the sounds in this song besides the piano don't ship with the Pico. They're a collection of sample instruments that I aggregated, fine-tuned and configured to react differently according to the different controllers that are being sent out by the Pico. Without these configurations, they sound quite bland. The drum sound is based on velocity indeed, the harder I press the keys, the brighter the sound is.

  • I've enjoyed all your videos. I think you should win the alpha for this performance alone. You've done more to promote the Eigenharp than anyone else with your informative videos. You did all this before there was ever a contest. I really hope they give you the alpha. You have probably helped sell many picos.

  • Thanks a lot for your kind words! :-)

  • Sound very similar to one other contestant's entry :(

  • Which one in particular? I think I know about all entries in the competition and I can't see which one you might be referring to.

  • wow. very very nice.

  • Oh. One question, gbevin. Is there any talk on the official Eigenlabs forums about the Eigenharp coming to Windows? I'm a registered user there but the only way to access the forums is to register an instrument. Again, great work.

  • Nothing in particular, just that it will come and the current plan in April 2010

  • How...does...it...work.

  • The Eigenharp is an amazingly sensitive and expressive instrument that leverages the power of nowadays' computers to allow you to play those detailed sounds. Don't mistake it for a MIDI controller since the data and sensitivity is a thousand times more detailed. The expressiveness of the keys make virtual instruments really come to life. You can layer and switch instruments on the fly while performing, as well as record and loop. More on my Eigenzone website :-)

  • Amazing!! Great job.

  • Woah...this is definitely the best use of the Pico on youtube atm....very very very well done.

Btw have you seen/tried the Eigenharp Tau yet?

  • Thanks, much appreciated!

I have only seen the Tau on videos and pictures, not yet in reality. Everything I know and have seen about the Tau can be found on my Eigenzone website

  • Quite astonishing. And yes, you really have raised the bar. Amazing.

  • Holy @#$ That was incredible. Really blown away...and you've raised the bar....I need to practice more myself.

  • Thanks a lot everyone! All your comments are really encouraging!

  • Wow. I'm speechless. That was completely amazing. Keep up the GREAT work! I'm already saving my pennies to get one once they make the leap to PC (Beginning of April :( )

  • Wow man! That was amazing!
