its awesom but Why planning to build a airport @ Sriperumbathur which is more than an hour drive from current airport or City. Which is currently have objection from INS rajali (a navy airport). If the new airport i built it will be riskier to travel by air to Chennai. As the INS base, new airport and existing Civilian airport are parallel to each other just 100 kms distance. If this is going to be the situation hy they need to renovate current airport.

Chennai and its suburbs have a combined population of 7.4 million, while Mumbai and Delhi metro regions have populations of 21 and 19 million, respectively. The latter two have a valid reason to build massive airports while Chennai doesn't. A functionally sound airport suited to the population is better than a massive one built for the sake of a penis-measuring contest.

@rajkumartheprice : You are resorting to a "dick-measuring contest" when you want Chennai's airport to be big as Delhi's just for the sake of "pleasing tourists." It's not a prudent idea to waste money on size, which eventually leads to increased cooling loads and other maintenance and operational costs, when there exists NO REASON for a large-sized building. You need an efficient and neat facility that serves the purpose, and tourists will be glad to have such a facility.

This is like living in fool's paradise. Have you actually exprienced the Chennai Airport? I have..more than dozen times...It's the dirtiest and most unorganised airport I have ever seen. It has no facilities whtsoever..! Even a railway station is better manged than this Airport. Try compare it with Mumbai Airport and you will see the difference.

sorry to say this, i just came back from India wif group of indian friends from my country, S'pore. outside the airport, there were many crows flying above our head, unforfunately, one of my friend's shirt was caught dropping by crow's shit. in my country, government gun down all these crows. i hope India will improve slowly.
