Richard Schroeder was my mentor and boss as well before he passed away. The man was a visionary before his time. Good to see this video is still up and around. Thank you for this trip down memory lane.
This car isn't fast for the 1/4, but just imagine how fast this car could go if it didn't have to let go of the throttle after a 1/4 mile? I wonder what its top speed is.
i dont know what jet engine they used but it was fairly a small one comparing the one in my other video of a jet ambulance...jet engine vehicles are not good at startin from zero..they pickup speed as they move,,,a lot of speed actually :) they will keep accelerating miles and miles if the structure is good enough to hold it together..its fun to watch though!
Sorry but it is a shit power from a jet powered car. A good FWD runs a better time on 1/4 Mile

That's a J-85 in that car. Googled it, and found their website. Car was designed, and driven by Richard Schroeder, who recently passed away.

9.6s in a jet car? That's not that fast...But for a home-grown type, I guess that's good....Wonder if it still gets over 20mpg....? ^^
Any idea on what jet engine they used?

Probably one of the small Pratt & Whitney engines out of a Bell helicopter...
Yeah, they are cool! I got to see Les Shockly break 400mph in Super Shockwave last year at the Great Georgia Air Show....That was awesome!
