  • No attempt to disrespect the Habs players of old, but I'd say #33, Roy himself, was the spirit and embodiment of Canadiens hockey.

  • I agreed. Montreal will never win a stanley cup because of the orginaization now...Thanks... 1993...

  • montreal fans are horrible

  • Good to see he's forgiven by the Montreal fans after walking out on his team. I just wish the same could be said for Sammy Sosa in Chicago. Retire #21!!!

  • @bhawksaddict The montreal crowd pissed Roy off by booing him, their own star goalie. After which Roy said he immediately said to the club owner that he would never play for Montreal again. He went on to win 2 staleys in colorado to my knowledge. I'm surprised he forgave the montreal fans..

  • you can tell even after what happened he still LOVED montreal..you could see it on his face the whole time

  • @HPhenomenal youre just jealous your team isnt as good as we are... and your comment makes you the worst hockey fan lol

  • Canadiens fans keep on putting their stars down. Toronto fans keep on bitching at other teams. Edmonton fans keep on getting their star players stolen from them at their prime. Ottawa fans keep on seeing their team failing in the playoffs. Vancouver fans keep on picking on Luongo. Calgary fans keep on thinking about the Stanley Cup playoffs they lost to Tampa Bay. Winnipeg fans kept on believing. Quebec fans keep on dreaming. :P

  • @MyHeadAsplodes Not true.

  • @CodPK2 True.

  • @MyHeadAsplodes Canadaians are Quebec and they had a riot there cus of hockey..

  • @CodPK2 LMAO are you serious? Do you know there's a city called QUEBEC CITY and it also had a hockey team called the NORDIQUES up till the mid 90s?! That's what I am talking about. There's Quebec city and the province of Quebec. Quebec city is within the province of Quebec. So yeah, I'm talking about the Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordiques, two different teams...

  • @MyHeadAsplodes Okay i see...

  • on a tellement besoin de Patrick à Montreal en ce moment

  • Question for Canadiens fans: does anyone know if Mario Tremblay was in the building that night? I have wondered that.

  • Wait a second. Aren't these fans the same pricks that pissed him off to the point where he refused to play for their organization? odd. Shame the Price is going through the same thing.

  • @spacerangerchimp You've got the story entirely wrong. He had a beef with the coach at the time, Mario Tremblay

  • @StavrosDakos I see well what about the fans doing the same to Carey Price?

  • @spacerangerchimp It's really been a while since they have, but I don't condone it either way.

  • @StavrosDakos Well good to know there are good Canadiens fans out there too

  • @spacerangerchimp The majority of habs fans are actually good people, it just seems really unfortunate that the ones that show up at games are the ones that are classless. That paints a bad image on all of us, but there really is no forgiving them and it's easy to understand why the rest of us get hate.

  • @StavrosDakos I would feel the same way if the Avs fans were like that.

  • @spacerangerchimp That's true. Haven't heard a single bad thing about Avs fans

  • Roy KING of goalies

  • Hey P.K Subban what are you doing in the video's intro?

  • Patrick was the Montreal Canadiens in those days. He stole us two Cups, and he could have been the bridge from the glory days to a bright new future, like Yzerman was for Detroit.

It wasn't the fans that wanted him to go, or chased him out, it was his coach Mario Tremblay leaving him in for 9 goals when you could see the team were awful, and GM Rejean Houle who panicked and gave him away for nothing.

If they had slept on it and slapped Tremblay down, he would have stayed.

  • Two great players

    Two banners raised

    One great night

  • Haha why are you retiring the jersey of the player you boo'd of your team assholes HAHAHAHA.

  • @cadocss they boo'd him for letting in goal after goal in that game vs detroit. they didnt want him to leave? ignorant person..you obviously don't know montreal fans. roy said it himself it had nothing to do with the fans. it was tremblay.

  • where is smart ass Tremblay...i do not see him in the crowd. F'n asshole

  • Comment removed

  • i don't mind the Habs bc i am a maple leafs fan but patrick roy is still my fav goalie EVER

  • the last time he played as a canadien he was booed out of town. then we he got his 500 wins you guys want the right to retire his jersey? canadien fans in montreal are all cunts.

  • @happyhour2012 Actually it was more like his Coach kicked him out

I got a book on him, and it was fucking stupid what his coach did, they have more respect than that

  • 0:09 pk Subban :)

  • @ZGWAGS hahah

  • One thing that Habs fans are greatest at is honoring their hockey heros. The amount of cheers they give to their favorite players is just insane! Practically every ceremony they have the crowd noise and atmosphere is AMAZING. :D

  • If Vladislov Tretiak played in the NHL (he couldnt , because the soviets didn't let him), he would of been the best goalie ever no dobut about it

  • He is not best french canadian goalie he is best goalie of all times

  • 1#Tretyak, 2# Hasek, 3# Roy and 4# Broduer.

  • Patrick Roy must still be mad for his wife sleeping around with Chris Chelios,Mike Keane and Guy Carbonneau.

  • pat burns rip my friend..

  • If you all recall, he said something to the effect of 'forget the past', he was proud to return to Montreal and have his number retired... indeed, the fans obviously were happy to have him back too... Habs fans might be tough on their team, but they remember who won them the Cups

  • he did some much for that organization and he fucks up one time and the fans disrespect him like that, I would have been like shove that invitation up your ass

  • Wonder why they didn't bring out Mario Tremblay to see Roy on that great day? LOL.

  • @TheHockeyCentral Haha, I guess his invite got lost in the mail...

  • i hates montreal

  • He did not leave because of the fans. I mean they were obnoxious and rude to him (and in their defence he let in nine goals his last game) but he felt humiliated by not having been pulled out that night against the Red Wings. He was angry at the coach and GM; they had their differences and he felt he couldn't play under those conditions.

But beyond a doubt the best goalie out there.

  • why would be even except montreal to retire his number?

  • Greatest goalie, no so much. For all his heroics he had some epic meltdowns and he turned his back on Canadien fans(by saying he will never play for the Canadiens again) to go to to the Nordiecs/Av's. Sorry but Broduer is and always will be greater then Roy.

  • @acman247365 turned his back on canadien fans? as i recall is was the canadien fans who constantly blamed him whenever things went wrong, and if i stayed in net for 9 goals while the fans were booing me, i wouldn't wanna play for them either

  • 5:06....look who is behind Roy to the left. :D

  • @InternetAesHole Who is that ?

  • @phillyguy672 carey fn price. its damn symbolic....

  • loved how cbc and the fucking leafs trying to shove that cupless loser wendel clark down our throats while one of the greatest goaltenders EVER was having his jersey retired. FUCK YOU TORONTO

  • lol now they cheer for him..

  • THE BEST!!!,

  • LOL they love him now? stupid montreal fans...they're doing the same thing with Carey Price. worst hockey fans in the world..canadiens fans.

  • @HPhenomenal He's a fucking legend everywhere in Canada and ESPECIALLY in Montreal. The preseason Price thing was retarded (mind you, they're trying to make it up to him), but Roy didn't leave because of the fans.

  • @HPhenomenal fuck you

  • @HPhenomenal Lol excuse me? We always loved Patrick because no one will ever top him. And we'll always love Carey as long as he's with us. If you're not a fna lmao why are you even talking? My god. And they all call US stupid.

  • @HPhenomenal You serious ? We always loved Patrick Roy, dumbass. The direction of Montreal Canadiens and the fans are two separate things, learn to do the difference.

  • @DeMers16 loved him when the fans were booing him too after having a bad game? you clearly know nothing! gtfo

  • @HPhenomenal stupid idea to compare Patrick Roy to Carey price

  • @MrFortunes seen the video of montreal fans booing and applauding carey price sarcastically during a bad game when he let in many goals and carey price raises his hand ..does that remind you of anyone? LOL! montreal fans are the worst fans in the NHL. period. they will boo their own players if they have a bad game

  • @HPhenomenal lol you're stupid. you dont know canadiens fans, so shut up

  • @HPhenomenal I am a canadiens fan and i completely agree with you :P

  • @HPhenomenal no i have to disagree they are just dedicated to what the canadians used to be a unstoppable winning machine when the rocket and such played......oh well one day they will see that times have changed lol

  • such a long standing ovation! :D

  • like the whole video was

    "woooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

  • The best ever...Terry Sawchuk!

  • The Roy vs brodeur debate reaminds me a lot of the Brady Vs Manning in football Roy will allways be better he is the most clutch goalie in NHL history in the playoffs alone just look at the rings Roy has more marty breaks under pressure if the playoffs wernt enough look at the olympics he sucked up the joint got pulled then canada won the whole thing ROY> brodeur

  • in my opinion brodeur is so overated. Yes he has the records, but that doesnt meen shit wen he doesnt earn it. Patrick Roy had to face hard shots and brought his team to the stanley cup multiple times. brodeur, yes hes good, but he has an AMAZING team in front of him to help stop the hard shots that roy took.

  • Comment removed

  • @robdmhaze it doesnt matter roy has more cups and is the best playoff goalie in the history of the nhl and actually the best goalie we all know the type of team new jersey is and roy didnt play as many games a season as brodeur did because the coach wanted him fresh and brodeur has been playing longer so your arguments are pointless in order for anyone to actually know who it is youd have to put them on the same team for the same amount of years and games otherwise its just an opinion

  • Comment removed

  • @robdmhaze actually brodeur has 3 cups roy has 4 and has the most con smythes out of anyone so roy is the best playoff goalie and since he has the most con smythes the best playoff player

  • Comment removed

  • @robdmhaze Fatso has more cups than Roy? You're fucking retarded.

  • Comment removed

  • @robdmhaze eat shit mahn...stop with all the trolling

  • Comment removed

Americans talking about hockey bwahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaahhaahhahahahahaahhahahahahaha ahhahahahahahahhahahahahahaaahahhaahahhahahahahahaahahahbaabhaahahahaabwahahahahahahhahaah bwahahahahhahahahahhaahh please dont make me laugh anymore i cant take it..

  • @robdmhaze Idiot.

  • @loobarlow oh wow there is a half thought out reply. Did your mom help you with that.

  • @robdmhaze Not trying to reply to someone whose best comeback involves laughing at his own dumb joke. Idiot.

  • @loobarlow yet you replyed to me, retard. wow you're an idiot.

  • @robdmhaze nice come back pussy! bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @loobarlow so now you copy and past my text back to me, glad you're educated enough to click 2 buttons.. Thx little guy.

  • this guy deserves it all, he was amazing,, im a Bruins fan, and i can tell you,, he was the best Goal tender of his time,, he GAVE US HEART ATTACKS here in boston,, i hated him so much,, but now i have so much respect,,, plus he helped Bourque get his cup in COLARADO

  • I remember watching this last year .... tis a true shame the Habs ran out of gas ... a real shame, centennial and all :o(

  • I'm a Canadiens fan, but some of these Habs fans cheering were probably the ones who mocked Roy in 95 vs the Wings when Patrick left the team.

  • Oh give me a break .. as a life long habs fan, that comment pisses me off. GET OVER IT!

  • Patrick is easily the greatest goalie ever, hands down. Yes, Marty now has more wins, but Patrick is still the greatest. He was an awesome goalie, and the thing that's so great about him is his fierce temper! It's so funny to watch him play, because he never was the shy guy! It's so funny when he loses his temper. :) Patrick is the greatest goalie ever. No doubt. <33 :D

  • @WhySoSeerious

    So was Hextall.

  • @WhySoSeerious Hasek was clearly better than Roy... 6 Vezinas and 5 x nominee for the Hart trophy (2 x winner)

Hasek also owns the highest career Save %

  • @LoowheezeBreeze Indeed, but Patrick was, and still is, the greater of the two. That's a fact.

  • @WhySoSeerious While Roy was a great goaltender, Dominik Hasek was easily the best goaltender ever.

  • @SuperMrVodka No he wasn't. Hasek was never near Patrick.

  • @GetStuffed04 Hasek never played as long as Roy. Plus their styles were very different.

  • @WhySoSeerious

I have to agree with you, but I also have to take pride in that he never beat Belfour in the playoffs!

  • @brianhardaway1984 Hehe Belfour was a GREAT goalie, too. :)

  • @WhySoSeerious brainwashed you people have a short memory,he said fuck you to the people of montreal, and every good person from canada that supported him,he dropped a big fucken shit all over you morons that still cherred for this asshole, remember he walked out on you people, and you salute this shitstain.guess what he is still #2 behind marty and you know that is eating away at his fucking pot belly, fuck him and any fool that supported him.

  • @cuff1957 I don't care if he said fuck you to the people of Montreal, since I'm half American/half Swedish. He was an awesome goalie and will always be number one to a lot of us.

  • Without a doubt the greatest goalie in NHL history so far. Brodeur will replace him. It's appropriate that they honoured Patrick before a game against us.. he was the toughest goalie the bruins ever dealt with.

  • not going to take anything away from Martin Brodeur, he is definetly a great goalie. He will eventually beat Roy's record, but in my opinion Patrick Roy is and always will be the greatest goaltender of all time. Just my opinion! :)

  • he is the best goaltender of all time

  • it's funny because the Leafs honored Wendell Clark the same night. Sure he was a good player but not far from great compared to Roy accomplishments

  • Brodeur sucks, watch Devils play without him, like he never exists, Patrick Roy greatest goalie foverer

  • Brodeur may not have the same playoff history as Roy, but there is no question that the former is one of the top goaltenders of the last two decades and the best goaltender as of last season.

  • montreal canadiens rock

  • patrick roy is the greatest goalie in history bar none. i would in good part blame the habs coaching staff for his leaving. he IS a bit hot headed (maybe more than a bit). GO HABS GO!

  • you may not.

  • Brodeur is great no question about that. But Brodeur never had playoffs performances like Roy had 86-93. This was the first and only time that I saw a goalie steal a Stanley Cup.

  • french canadian are the best goalie lol

  • @mmm1494 To bad he hated the habs, can't even believe he excepted the invitation so they could retire his number after what his fans did to him, i would have laughed and said no thank you.

  • @sutton123454 I think you mean ACCEPTED ya dumb ass

  • @mmm1494 i would say that the NorthSwedish goalies are the best. ;D

  • @danzigTV I don't think so... Since Swedish goalies *Puts on sunglasses* Aren't FASTH enough. YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Spartan172FIN Well, Lundqvist sure was fast enough on that last shot by Jokinen in the 2006 Olympics. Legendary save.

  • Roy has always been one of my favourite goalies. Shame how he left Montreal. Great to see them honour him.
