I don' t think is an expensive cat, cause is very common. You can have one for free catching some stray cat from the streets. In Italy (where i live) is often called "bastard cat" cause many mixedbreeds are like this. Probably the swedish "celtic shorthair" that represent the purest breed can be more expensive. Very playfull and totally independent: he almost take care of you instead of being cared.
