  • Smoking tobacco leads to the premature death of 100,000 people in the UK

    annually. I am opposed to introducing prohibitions on the use of tobacco by adults;

    individuals should be free to make decisions for themselves so long as

    what they do causes no harm to others.

    But governments are right to ensure that information about the ill

    effects of the smoking habit is communicated effectively.

  • My approach to smoking and to the use of some currently illegal drugs is broadly similar.

    I believe in replacing the prohibition of the latter with an alternative based on licensing and regulation because I think

    current arrangements make criminals rich and cause more harm than good and because individuals should be free to make their own

    choices.

    I would still expect governments to do everything they can by way of

    information to persuade citizens that the use of drugs is a risky business.

  • I hope you posted this BECAUSE I WANT A REPLY!

    I get that you want to stop people smoking(or starting) because it kills them. Good on you! However, I hate the fact that you are taking our freedom to have a choice in the matter. You could die in a car crash- but you dont see warnings labled on cars showing in grapic detail "Driving kills". We are smoking outside in every situation- and theirfor not hurting anyone but ourselves- Please just leave me with the choice to do this-Dont rub it in!
