I've never heard anybody say this was easy to clean. There's practically no way to get your arm in to scrub if you needed to, or to fit a gravel vacuum in the tiny little opening to clean the bottom.
Oxygen exchange is good but not great considering it's only a 4/5'' opening in the middle of the tank covered by a mini-hood, and a bio-wheel type filter or at least adding a mini sponge filter fitted with a simple airstone alongside the aqua-clear would have been nice. This tank design is for space and aesthetics, perfect for the office setting, it's not optimal though given the lack of oxygen access. Beta's would have trouble doing well in this given the filter flow would limit surface visits
Hey all- Watch soon for the video of the EDGE 2-- all new lighting systems and a new size. The 6 gallon now comes in White and has 21 LED bulbs, 3 of which are blue night lights. And then there is a new 12 gallon that is double the height and it has 42 LED bulbs. I will have a video up soon of these.
Hey, I have never had a single customer tell me this? What kind of fish? If this problem keeps up just reduce the flow rate of the filter. You can slow it to 50% and it will actually filter the tank even better due to the patented flow pattern of the filter.
@acdryer1 Have you tried using the prefilter? I was afraid my Zebrafish might get stuck...got it for $3 at petsmart. I just set my tank up last week. I posted the video w/ prefilter on my channel. I hope this helps.
Hi I want to upgrade my lights and these look good. But I have healthy plants in my tank and have heard about how plants need certain lights to prosper (although I also read that the edge lights were supposed to be no good for plants..not true in my case..). anyway, do you know if these lights are going to be no good for my plants??? many thanks
@TheAviator365 Heeey man if u didn't already buy the tank already u can put alittle more then that. If you want you can put some tropical fish! platties, neon tetras, mollys just try to consider those :)
@TheAviator365 guppies platies not mollies they can get a little big maybe endlers as they are smaller than normal guppies and some cherry shrimp maybe 2or 3 and a sanil should be great
@shacks29 i have had this tank for 2 month now and it is easy to clean just can get abit tricky catching the fish and i have a betta in the tank and he is doing just fine there is a big square hole at the top of the tank where he goes to breath tey are not daft fish he found out quickly where to go just aslong as you dont have the current to fast bettas will do fine!
It took only half a minute then my betta found the opening. Further more some bettas are jumping out of a normal aqarium, they will not jump out of this.
if these were a little bigger that'd be cool. maybe 10 or 20 gallons. its nice, but 6 gallons really limits what you can put in it. a honey gourami, 6 neon tetras, and 10 cherry shrimp... thats the best combination i can come up with.
Bought a Fluval Edge today i really like the tank but im not too happy with the light bulb's... i want BETTER brighter, color light bulb's! anyone know where i can get blue, white light bulb's???
by far hallogen got the worst spectral ,,,its way too week and it use too much energy,,,,fluorescent are so much better than halogen and they dont use too much power and have a higer spectrum,,,youll be dumb to not use them,,,,but i know halogen come with fluval edge so ,,,,fluval dumb!!
@jaydamagnifik They've used halogen bulbs to act as a heater. Saves manufacturing costs due to an extra heater not being added. Although in cold environments around the tank an extra heater would probably be needed for tropical set-ups.
i been a grower of several plants ,,i have a fat green thumb and i have try hallogen ,,and the spectrum of light isnt good enought ,,my plant were growing horizontaly way too much,,without much leaf,,,i did research about it after i got this problem and no one recomend using halogen
I have a 2month old fluval edge. this is my first tank ever so moving slowly. are we limited in the type of plants or placement in the setup? I am so attracted to moss and grass but nervous about adding them. I fertilize with aqueon weekly after 25% water change.

that's a really cool design - especially for a SMALL tank.
very compact and neat.

I owned the Fluval Chi 5 gallon. It is beautiful but the filter would able to filter the fishes' waste.

missalz786 8 months ago
@missalz786 This tank is way too small for four goldfish. You need a 20 gallon at the very least.

I bought this tank and I got it for £99 with the filter and everything included :) x

Hey people,
I want to get into this hobby ... is a fluval edge a good starting tank?
Also if I set aside 200 dollars for the setup of the tank will that be enough?

Has anyone had problems with their fish getting stuck against the suction? I have had to pull them off the suction with a net.

The only thing that bothers me, is how close those lights are to the water, and I don't see some sort of seal between the water and the lights! Lol.

On the first Look, its awesome but I saw this in a store and you can´t remove the top glass so its pretty annoying to setup and clean this tank.
Also not a good choice if you have a Betta or any kind of air breathing fish.

@shacks29 thats the point of the kit. That's why it looks so cool. And a betta could do fine as there is access to the air.

Halogen light is actually great for plants, you will need to research more. Plants of all types are doing great in the Flval Edge.
