Drum solo was actually overdubbed by Earl Palmer (as noted in his biography Backbeat) after the on set sound recordist blew the take. Earl studied the rushes and tracked the solo in an afternoon.... now that's genius.
YES! That is EXACTLY what you get for calling Elvin Jones "boy" -- This has to be the best movie ever, even if every other scene sucks. If you don't know who Elvin Jones is, you shouldn't be commenting. Also -- go buy a damn record.
