I found it is easier to use Yoshi for Koopa Surfin' Switch Star. First, you get to Dire, Dire Docks as Yoshi, then at the mission select screen, you choose Wario's cap. Then, you break the black brick as Wario for the star switch.(don't press it yet) Then, swim over to a Skeeter (water spider) and lose your cap. Then, as Yoshi, get the Koopa shell and press the star switch and ride over to the star.

dire, dire docks is easy as shit! and so is every other water course. no fudgin joke! its way too hard for me to even fail in any water course much less die. even if i tried to drown or something, coins are all over the place so that just fills you back up. if they really wanted to make this game more challenging, they should have removed water worlds, or stop putting so much coins in the water, so there is actually a chance of you dying!
