Some call this "streaming birefringence" (ala Merzkirch and Sir Maxwell). What you show in the video is isoclines (light and dark areas, or fringes). Have you also tried changing the concentration of the TMV ? If so, what happens ? Do you get isochromes (fringes of color) ?
Any suggestions as to where I could get some of the TMV ?
