  • that was crap!

  • stop posting rude comments about this version of the nutcracker its actually very good

  • Ballet is just beautiful!

  • I love the nutcracker!

  • I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARDS TO SEEING THE NUTCRACKER BALLET EVERY YEAR! :) DID ANY OF YOU KNOW IT WAS ALSO BASED ON A BOOK?

  • ohhh yorkville cuz i thought it was the actual NYC one too. I thought this one couldnt be the Real one. cuz i saw it

  • has anyone ever posted the one of the lincoln center would love to see it. love how they have different coutrys in this one

  • well, tthis is something like mine..

we had families from different countries

but Clara was 14 and her friends (i was the eldest danish) were all the same age.

    so different

  • in ours we have actual tooters.

  • This is so weird, every version I see has SUCH different choreography. I knew they'd all be different, but it surprises me HOW different they are. I mean, not just the choreography but some of the types of dances as well. Like what's Merliton? My ballet company doesn't have that. We have party, battle, coffee, waltz, snow, angels, tea, marzipan, mother ginger and the gingerettes, the sugar plum fairy and her cavalier, and of course parts inside of those dances.

  • @PigPenguin91 In some versions of The Nutcracker they have "The Land of the Dolls" for Act II, and the version that you do is "The Land of the Sweets" in Act II. For example instead of Spanish Chocolate you have the Spanish Dance, Chinese tea would be Chinese Dance and so on. Actually "The Land of the Dolls" would be more accurate because that is what it is called in the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.T. A. Hoffmann.

  • @Hotleather31 Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, I'm used to Land of the Sweets. But what are the Merlitons supposed to be? I think they're set to the music we use for Marzipan.

  • @PigPenguin91 Yes the Merlitons is set to the same music as Marzipan. Unfortunately I am not sure what a Merliton is. I am so sorry about that!

  • @Hotleather31 Huh. Oh well, it's not a big deal.

  • our nutcracker's better!!!! jkjkjk lol ;) im clara this year! 8D

  • I clicked on this thinking it was the actual NYC ballet co nutcracker production... your title is misleading, you should clarify that it is the YORKVILLE NYC company.

  • @brodieman65 what's the difference?

  • Comment removed

  • @brodieman65

For the first time, this year (2010), ABT is doing it's new Nutcracker. However, since the Opera is in the Met

they are at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). I have my ticket to see Giillian Murphy as the Sugar Plum Fairy, which was my old role at ballet West. I was also in the Corps at City ballet, but, not up to their quality.

  • @brodieman65

You can tell because City Ballet uses kids from SAB. ABT is doing a new version this year at Brooklyn Academy of Music, as, the Opera is at the Met. I can't wait. i ahve my ticket to see Gillian Murphy as the Sugar plum Fairy.

Now the have their own school (the JKO School). for kids. this was my role at Ballet West, but, when I danced with City Ballet, I only made it to the Corps and was not even close to this ability and extension.

  • good

  • This year were doing The Nutcracker too.But diffrent way of dancing.Watch my Malchik Spalchik one.

  • I just LOVE a man in pink tights!!

  • where can i get the whole version of this????? i need it for an assignment please

  • Is it allowed to make a video during a performance? No.

  • Yes it is

  • thats exactly what said.

  • whell how was I supposed to kno that!@ my school they all have bows...sorrryyy!!

  • just saw the san francisco ballet's nutcracker last night...by far, much better than this production....:)

  • sorry that comment was for WolfGoddess115494

    lol

  • what ballet company is this???

  • This is "The Yorkville Nutcracker" by the Dances Patrelle company at the Danny Kaye Theater in New York City. This production has been running for 13 years.

  • ZOMG! I am dancing in a lesser production of the nutcracker! I am a maid, Toy Soldier, lead Russian, and Merliton Attendant.

  • where were you seated, do you remember?

  • aaaaactually ballet was created BY a man(king LUIS IV of France) and was origanally only danced by men......oooooh your SALT

  • My best friend is a male ballet dancer and he's homophobic...

  • ah...i c.....i didn't really mean my comment to mean or anything i just....u know...

  • Ballet is a form of expression. Expressing yourself through a physical form doesn't make you gay.

    ugh.

  • @VibratingHeart

    GOOD POINT!! :) ;)

  • @VibratingHeart

I agree! It's just alot of people's ways of expressing themselves. Tchaikovsky himself expressed himself through music. It's interesting though The Nutcracker Ballet didn't come out to theatres till 1891. The Imperial Theatre of St. Petersburg had commissioned him to write the music for the ballet. Anna Pavlova was the first ballet dancer to glorify the role of Clara!

  • @VibratingHeart I agree! Some people have difficulties expressing themselves through words so they do it in different ways nothing more.

  • well if you think about it, some of the guys in ballet are gay, but for the guys who arent like me, there is usualy only about three or four boys in each class, and about twenty girls dancing around you in tights and leotards. i think its a wise decision to do ballet:)

  • Well I saw the Nutcracker in Louisville, and those male ballets just threw the girls and picked them up. They were freakin buff. lol

  • ahahaha

Our local professional company is half men. about 15 and only one is gay actually

Why stereotype everyone like you did in your statement? men and women can dance! and not all men are gay, just like all women with short hair arent gay

  • that was a stupid assumtion. ballet was started by men. and women wernt even in the ballet

  • IDIOT!!!!

YOU are SOOOOO not allowed to ever open your mouth in public again

  • that 1.....DUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

    LOL

  • um, which one is clara?

  • the 1 who started the girls dance wearing a bow round her waist duh
