I don't understand why they call it HOVER-craft when it doesn't even hover. Do you even know what the word hover means?
Hovering (levitation), the process by which an object is suspended by a physical force against gravity, in a stable position WITHOUT SOLID PHYSICAL CONTACT ON ANY SURFACES.
This hovercraft is still touching the surface, its not really a hovercraft. Its an inflatable-craft.
If water/moisture is a problem with petrol engines, why dont they use diesel engines in airplanes? They are constantly flying in high moisture air and also in rain. If petrol engines were a problem in airplanes they would be banned so dont think for a second that they are a problem in a hovercraft.
@Sterlingjob I didnt mean they dont use deisel engines in planes what I meant was why dont they ONLY use deisel engines in planes in reply to cpnstav thinking petrol engines are a problem with water/moisture :))
Diesel engines are finally getting closer the petrol engines but there is no need to put a diesel engine in a hovercraft. The difference between the two arguments is experience. Cpnstav thinks there is a problem with petrol engines because of inexperience. Strutskatten knows its not a problem from experience. Ive used a rotax 2 stroke, a Geo 3cyl 4 stroke and a Subaru boxer engine in 3 hovercraft without one single engine failure ever. Every speedboat you see on the water has a petrol engine.
OK Stuts I puposely SAID ENGINE if the thing is built correctly ( and it looks like it is ) the ingress of water to the air intake should be virtually NIL. Apply the same Intake to petrol and Diesel the throw a bucket of water on both.IF they made a diesel I would have bought one. As it happens I had to buy Russian ( 5 place) as I could find no other small diesel hovercraft.
Strutts throw a bucket of water oiver a diesel engine and see what happens ( nothing) throw a bucket of water over your petrol engine and it will stop..Nothing wrong with the hovercraf tits Brilliant Just petrol and water for me BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD MIX
Even if you throw the water on the air intake on the diesel engine?? Have you seen a turbo explode?? Boats, cars, motorcycles etc. works fine with petrol engines and so does hovercrafts.
what is the milage like?

@Yutubetopteensingers actually, some airplanes do have diesel engines! I believe some Cessna 182s have those engines in them.

I agree about diesel engines on a big hovercraft but in small ones it is better with petrol engines because of the weight.
About petrol engines and water, can you ride a motorcycle in heavy rain? Yes you can!
