Just wanted to comment that John Williamson is an icon and one of my favorite all time singers...I'm from Florida and tell everyone I know what a tremendous contribution to music John Williamson is. Australia should be mighty proud... and although I've never had the chance to meet John, I'm sure he's one hell of a man!
@christangey: If you are in contact with John could you ask him very kindly to come back home to Vic for some gigs. I saw him in Geelong and it was absolutely fabulous, the way he weaves his songs and stories together.
Warren was crook that night, not that he let if bother him. An absolute professional all the way, I am glad he got on top of his issues. It saddens me that so many of his people, OUR people (we're all Aussies after all) go through this.
I'm from the US and I'd travel a good ways to see him if he came over again. Discovered him thanks to Steve Irwin's memorial service and now have 6-7 of his CDs. Tried to get another, but Amazon finally told me they couldn't provide it.
The big news on John is he has 2 one off shows at the end of this month at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, an opportunity not to be missed!
Im pretty sure I was his youngest fan!!! I was OBSESSED with John when I was 5!!! I had all his CD's and i listened to them like Lulabys at night!!! When my grandparents went to see him live and didnt take me I cried for hours!!!
just found out bout john on youtube yesturday and now i cnt stop listenin to him he brilliant...doubt if he'll ever come to ireland tho if he does ill b there
Johnson, John has toured the States a couple of times, most recently about 2 years ago. I spoke to him about it a while back and he wasn't sure if Americans 'got" his music or not and he had no plans to try again. He is now 63 and currently doing his 40 year career tour of Australian and New Zealand, but if you could really put some effort in over there to show that there is real interest, I could speak with him about the possibility of one last tour over there.
OK. Well could you just tell Johnny that "I am proud to know you the keeper of the song, elder of your tribe" LOL! do you know where i can get any dvd's of him in concert or a greatest hits cd?
at least he'll know that he has a fan over in america.
I see something in common with both True Blue Aussies and True Blue Americans ... we both share great love towards are land... and passion for our freedom!! Something you don't see in other cultures and Countries!
Hey Chris - I was browsing on sat arvo and came across this. I'm not a great fan of C&W but this and Raining On The Rock (with Warren Williams) would have to be favs of mine.
Mate you are a bloody legend, you do not know how much this means to a Aussie that is outta town for a while. Honestly it puts tears in my eyes. Our land sits so deep in side of us when we are away, but we dont forget a thing, I even here the birds every now and then.
The US may not "get" John's music & songs but try Canada. I would love to see John in Canada.

John used to travel to the USA, and when he did, people drove hundreds of miles to see him. Great man and a credit to this country.

Why is it that some Yanks know this song, but I've never heard it before??
This is a beautiful song with beautiful scenery. I'm guessing it is NT or N WA. It's wrong that it is cheaper to visit NZ than it is to visit NT.
