Nice toyota!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have one to and love it! Check mine out, i have a lot of offroading videos of my fj on my channel too. Keep up the good work! /user/juvi81
My family has always been a Jeep family. Between my dads many CJ's, my moms Grand Cheerokes and my recent Wrangler TJ X Columbia Edition we've had over 10 in the family. I LOVE jeeps. That being said, I just traded in my Wrangler for a 2010 FJ Cruiser 4x4 with offroad package. Why would I do such a thing? Simple, I needed the extra back seat space for the car seats and the extra doors to get kids in and out. The jeep unlimted is too underpowered for what I need. Very happy with the FJ!
@dsskier5 ha it honestly reminds me of a dune buggy trying to flex.. It goes some amazing places, yet oddly enough seems out of place and doesn't seem like it should be there. ha ha
Golden Crack is on the Gold Bar Rim/Golden Spike trail in Moab Utah. We ran the Poison Spider trail to Golden Spike and out the Gold Bar Rim. These are rated 4.0 to 4.+ trails. A long full day of wheeling with a lot of great obsticles. This was my first wheeling trip in the FJ... stock except 3" Old Man Emu lift and factory sliders...no skid plates. Has rear locker and Atrac.
When purchased in early 3008 the Rubicon was $6000 more (28k or 34k), looked at both very closely and would park either one in the driveway out front.
damn! realy? 3008? just pulling your chain man but I would rather go for the fj as it is longer and will not feel like its going to roll every time you turn...
Well there you have it. Because when I build an FJ on Toyota's website, with the offroad package contained in the "Convenience Package", which includes the locking diff, I get $29,720.
Uh, the Rubi (even the four door Rubi) is cheaper then the FJ, and had locking front and rear diffs. That's in addition to an e-disco for the sway bar.
I was looking at alot of other vehicles crossing this and it's pretty amazing that an fj can keep up with the likes of solid front axle cars through good balance, dimensions, and electronic traction control an sometimes make it look easier
Did you keep the Bilstein shocks that come with the offroad package? I've heard that they work fine with the OME 3" lift, and I've heard that you need longer shocks.
Nicely done. I'm with ocr14a... I want to know if it's stock. I've also got a near stock SS with the BFG's on it. They work great in sand, but you have to really get them spinning to bail any mud.
I was watching this thinking, I know he's going to honk at that crack any time now. Lo and behold, HONK. I do that too from time to time.
The fact that this guy in an FJ Cruiser can do this must piss you off, too bad. He drives there and back home in MAJOR comfort and can do the trails in a stock rig. Don't tell us to buy a jeep and we won't tell you to buy an FJ. We are all off roaders dude!!

the lift over here is it 3" or 6" ?
and which one is best for fj ?
killer000071 2 years ago
The 3 inch with 33s is more common lift on the fj. A 6 inch requires a lot more work to install it and is more costly.

Don't dog me, started with a friggin Suzuki Sam for my first 4-W. Ruined a nice Vega to get there. Had Jeeps (yawn). Others as I made more dough.
Not kidding, this FJ is better than any other four wheel drive, for the money, and then some. Go ahead and try to match it.

@frontdogg My Toyota pickup with SAS, arb's front and rear, and 35's will match it and only $12,000 invested, including original purchase

A stock 4wd FJ with the offroad upgrade package (Which includes a locking rear diff) is about the same price as a 2-door Rubicon, $29,000-$30,000.
wun1gee 2 years ago
So I just went to the build an FJ site to proove you wrong.
An FJ with the offroad package and NO options is $36,075 STICKER.
An UNLIMITED Rubicon is $32,495 sticker with no options on the build a Jeep page.
Bada-bam. Proof you can check yourself. (Prices Canadian)

I have one.
What about tires?
Mine are still the flat-tread street tires.
Ya look great there on Golden Crack. I've never been to Moab yet, but I'll get Sandi out there sometime soon, perhaps this summer.
