@artfan101 That's only because the cartoons always foolishly put Scarlett with Duke, which is a lousy pairing. Covert ops isn't Duke's thing; he's more of a ground missions expert. GI JOE is divided into four units: land, sea, air, and covert ops. In the comics, Scarlett is always with Snake Eyes and they rule at covert ops because it's their specialty.

@seanjohnirish Well, continuity does matter because the comics are the source material from which everything comes, no different than Batman, Spider-Man or Superman. The Marvel comic book series is actually the original story, not the 80's Sunbow cartoon, and many discovered the comics after watching the cartoon and preferred Larry Hama's superior storytelliing in the comics. You wouldn't make a Batman movie based on the 60's TV series with Adam West, would you? And IDW comics has 2 versions --

@seanjohnirish IDW has 2 versions currently running -- one is the G.I. JOE revision by Chuck Dixon(which even new fans have criticized) and the other IDW title continues the Marvel comics continuity where it left off in issue #155 back in 1995, and Larry Hama himself is currently writing it. This is not like TRANSFORMERS. G.I JOE has always been the result of Larry Hama's vision, based on his original, unpublished 'FURY FORCE' concept that he created for Marvel comics and adapted to G.I. JOE.

If they had just stuck with Hama's Snake Eyes/Scarlett storyline from the comics and ignored the Duke thing from the 80's cartoon completely, 'Resolute' would have been perfect. But frikkin' Ellis just had to cave to Sunbow.

I would just like to know what is up with Hollywood and pulling shit like that. I mean, they could have included Stalker rather than Ripcord if they wanted a second black G.I. Joe to complement Heavy Duty (if that was the case). Matter of fact, I think it would have been very, very cool to have had Stalker instead of Ripcord, even though they needed a pilot for the end.

Because they hired an Australian writer named Stuart Beattie who knew nothing about the comic books to write the screenplay for the movie. He didn''t even consult G.I. Joe comics creator Larry Hama until filming had almost begun, and was going to have Snake Eyes speak at the end as a joke until Hama talked him out of it. Hollywood screws up comic books all the time, and Hasbro only wants to sell toys, not tell great stories.

@masterforce0 they had the entire joe roster, The generals assistant was Cover girl (and they offed her - i was angry), they had some one who i THINK was Jinx testing the active camo suit....they could have sent Ace along with the joes assaulting the above ground section or had him come along later but they didn't need to use Rip Cord...........yea Stalker would have been better.

@tangocolt02 Read the comics. Snake Eyes put out more than enough for Scarlett. Scarlett and Duke rarely interacted with each other in the comics because Larry Hama was not going to allow his storyline to be compromised by anything the Sunbow cartoon did. He barely watched it.

Well, if you look really closely, I believe the guys that Duke and Scarlett take out outside the Russian installation are Ice Vipers. Would've been nice to see different types of cobras though. I was really disappointed there were no regular vipers. Gotta love those reflective face shields.
