  • I would love to know more about this. I was recently diagnosed with this too. One question, did u feel hot like your body was on fire on rhe inside? Did you or do you ever get bright red? I am just learning about this disease actually your video was my first. I would love any infi you could share. Thank you and I hope you are still doing well

  • i've just been diagnosed with autoimmune urticaria. i've been doing crazy amounts of research as to the rhyme or reason and i have noticed that eating foods high in histamine will definitely trigger an outbreak (even though i show no allergies on the food allergy panel). are you focusing on eating foods with low histamine levels? i'd love to talk to you more about this as your story really seems similar to mine!

  • @erincarrather - I have not noticed any difference when it comes to the histamine content of my food. For me, I am more sensitive to the digestive and blood sugar aspects of the food I eat - grains and dairy are difficult to digest, and foods with a high glycemic index, like sugar, all aggravate my hives.

  • Hi, I'm having the same issue-going on 3 months now. My CU test came back positive, so it is autoimmune urticaria. Can you send me the information on the diet? I'm also in the Chicago area, could you send me the name of the doctor you worked with?

  • @eabdab0306 - send me an email and I will reply with the detailed information. these comment fields have character limits.

  • i have hives i hate haveing an elergic thing

  • I have had autoimmune hives for more than 5 years now. I would like to learn more about this diet. KC can you email me the pdf you spoke about in your video?

  • @MsPaleface90 - send me an email and I will reply with the detailed information. these comment fields have character limits.

  • do these natural doctors have a title,...like a doctor that looks at your stomach, intestines and such is a gastrologist

  • @gerardtravis19 - I was surprised to learn that complementary, integrative, and alternative medicines are such huge fields. They do have names (naturopaths, accupuncturists, homeopaths, sometimes chiropractors) but they aren't organized by individual body parts - rather by the kind of lens through which they view the entire body. I have been helped significantly by my a naturopath, an accupuncturist, and a homeopath, all of whom were also chiros. Cross-training in alternative medicine is common.

  • Do you think that the diet could help me too when I haven't been told it is autoimmune hives? As you understand, I'm willing to try anything right now but I am cautious about everything. Also do you have suggestions about finding a natural healing doctor that could assist me in finding the right combination of digestive enzymes for my specific condition with all my food sensitivities etc.?

  • @needhiveshelp - Yes, I think the diet and enzymes would help. I think it makes sense to be cautious, but let's be honest, aside from fasting (which is only good for short periods of time) you have to eat something, so here are my recommendations: meat, veggies, and legumes for meals, and fruit (optional) for snacks. No sugar, wheat, dairy, soy, shellfish, nuts, cocoa, coffee, or citrus. Exceptions that are ok are: Eggs, organic peanut butter, lemons and limes. Non-hydrogenated oils are ok.

  • @needhiveshelp - I understand being cautious. I remember feeling like I couldn't eat anything without being nervous because I couldn't tell what was causing the problem. The truth is: you're a walking allergic reaction - the food aggravates it, but it's not the root cause. Eliminate the aggravation and I think you'll find a lot of relief. Eliminating the allergy is a much more involved process. I have found homeopathy and accupuncture work best for this, and it takes awhile.

  • Also, I have a question. I was told my hives are likely caused by something I'm ingesting (b/c of the angioedema?) and I tested as sensitive for a number of foods when an allergist tested me. I don't know if you are familiar with that testing, but I had sensitivites to about 40 foods and I was only tested for about 60. I have not had the test to tell me if I have "autoimmune" hives themselves... just was told I tested NEGATIVE for RA, Lupus, and Thyroid problems.

  • @needhiveshelp - For a person with hives, food allergy tests don't really work - the skin prick tests produce false positives and blood tests for food allergies are notoriously unreliable (like 50/50 - what's the good of testing at all? They have a 50/50 chance of being wrong...) The medical doctors are doing what they're trained to do, but allopathic medicine is really bad at treating chronic conditions like this, this is why we have to seek out another way of viewing and treating our illness.

  • Hi Hivesinfo,

I have been having urticaria and angioedema for about 6 months. I am on a combination of antihistamines and H2 blockers to control my outbreaks, but I really want to heal instead of just respond to the hives. It sounds like your diet and digestive enzymes may help me. I would like to email you for the pdf you spoke about...but I am new to YouTube and do not know where to find your email. Thanks for your help.

  • @needhiveshelp - @needhiveshelp - Click on my name (hives_info), scroll down, and find where it says "send message".

  • very helpful. the only question is, do you mean that your hives come and go? like daily? or do they stay on your skin for days at a time? just curious, thank you so much again! so warming to hear you talk too, very professional it seems

  • @whenfreedomfell - Due to this diet, digestive enzymes, and homeopathics, I no longer get hives regularly. However, when I had them (and I had them for 2 years before finding the right combination of these therapies) they were always with me, for 2 years straight. Sometimes they were worse than others, and they moved around. Usually, they were concentrated where there was pressure, like waistbands, and the backs of my legs from sitting. Now I only get hives when I don't do what I'm supposed to.

  • I have just been diagnoised with this and I have been in the first round of treatment with the antihistamines. I have it so bad it is bad I am covered from head to toe, sometimes they are so large they are the size of my hands. If you please find something that works please let me know. I am desperate for a solution.

  • @orblette24 - I haven't talked to anyone that hasn't improved from the diet and digestive enzymes I talk about in this video.

  • @orblette24 - For symptom relief, nothing has worked as well for me as the diet and enzymes I talk about in the video. For relief from the root cause, I've been on a long, slow, involved journey to many different practitioners to get to the bottom of it. Homeopathy is seriously wow. Accupuncture also helps.

  • I had autoimmune hives for 5 years before finally finding a real cure. So many doctors passed them off as allergy related and worse yet a "non serious" disease.

I tried every treatment around but they did not work. I had such bad itching and hives that I could not sleep for days or even take my nails off my skin. Finally I got perscribed immune suppressants which literally saved my life. They were definatly worth risking my life to take and I'm SO happy I did.

  • @christinewatson1989 - Certainly, this has to be an option on the table, and I wouldn't condone it outright, but (as you know) there are substantial risks, so it's important to know about these going into it. Even so, immunosuppressants don't work for everyone, and often when they do work, they only work for a limited period of time.

  • Autoimmune is when the body attacks itself. The hives were cause byt he body attacking it's own protein. When you eat a PALEO diet (meat, fruits, veggies), you heal your digestive tract. The anti-bodies that attack the grain proteins (gluten, lectin, etc.) subside. When your tract is healthy, the body does not absorb those proteins into the blood, which start the process all over again. You also balance out the omega 3/6 ratio, so inflammation goes away as well. Pretty simple, try it and see.

  • @vidoent True, but nuts, fruits, eggs and nightshades will slow down your progress tremendously.

  • @KorionDotNet - Nuts are definitely a no-no for people with hives. I find that fruits don't make my hives worse, but they do cause some other problems, especially very sweet ones. Fruits, eggs, and nightshades would not be the my first things on my list to eliminate, but they are worth trying for people who have already eliminated wheat, dairy, other grains, sugar, soy, etc... The same goes for legumes/beans. I have no problem with them, but some people find they do better without them.

  • @hivesinfo Now that's very correct! I just removed them because I got easy access to grass-fed meat and organic vegetables now. I'm planning on re-introducing sweet potatoes. Do you think that will be okay? I have healed a lot since july, but I still wanna improve if I can :).

  • @KorionDotNet - I have good luck with sweet potatoes. Their glycemic index is very low compared to white ones, even though they taste sweeter. Strange, huh?

  • OMG! I can so relate to this...

  • i am glad i came across your vid i had an attack of hives couldnt sleep so i am up watching you lol i went raw nothing and taking herbs for liver gallbladder blood n lymphatic herbs and quercetin a natural herb that acts as a histamine the hives are in the very last stages but still flaring up here n there. I do have enzymes and when i heard you say that i knew thats what i am missing im so glad i was led to watch this vid and i will be taking my enzymes TOMRW lol thanks post more vids :)

  • I have chronic hives and doctors do not seem to know what is causing it. I am so desperate that I don't know what else to do or try. I feel so down and sleepy due to the medicine. Please give me more information of the diet or steps to take to help my problem. I thank you for the information.

  • what was your diet

  • I've gone to 2 doctors and 1 specialist and getting that same response of, "Well, there is nothing we can do for that but antihistimanes.(which don't work all the time)"

My doctor told me I should be angry, uncomfortable and irritated but not concerned...then he chuckled. I don't like doctors

  • @finessewes9119 - there is an entire universe of treatments available outside of conventional medicine. I'd recommend finding a good natural health doc. They can be naturopaths, acupuncturists, or anything in between...

  • thanks for the video :) i had alot of hives today for no reason so i decited to watch this and i like it alot :)

  • Do your eyes swell shut ever? Sometimes my feet and hands swell up as well and there are so many hives on my body it looks more like white splotches than red.

  • @lilylouuu - Yes. Hives do all this.

  • @strawberryyy0x - See my videos - the food and enzyme plan should help relieve symptoms. Also, see a naturopath or other natural health practitioner. They are the most likely to be able to help you seek out the cause of the imbalance, which usually starts in the liver, which, when healthy, should detoxify the body. Medical doctors don't work with the liver in this way.

  • hi everybody, every doctor told me that uticaria is caused by dust. I am suffering from hives for 10 years. But in between it went away and came back again. Please tell me what causes utcaria? is it dust

  • @banu111 - It's typical for hives to go away and come back again. Usually, they come back stronger the subsequent time(s). Dust does not cause chronic hives - here the body has a systemic imbalance. A healthy person does -not- have a negative reaction to dust or any normal surroundings. So instead of avoiding dust, seek out the cause of the imbalance. Usually this starts with the liver, which, when healthy, detoxifies the body. Naturopaths are the most likely to be able to help you with this.

  • @banu111

  • im 15 and i have hives like everyday, sometimes its serious, and sometimes it not. Im not sure if its autoimmune or if its an allergy but i got a test and it said i was allergic to some food but i don't eat those everyday. its like ginger and seafood. I eat regular food like a typical person. It's kind of scary and i hate it when im at school and sometimes i look terrible and i would be teased. I had this eversince exactly April 4 2009. I don't know and i don't think i can get tested

  • @COMEDYTVdotCOM - I can't imagine having this at 15 - life is hard enough at that age, eh? My suggestion is to stay away from the things that irritate the hives. It's very typical for seafood, especially shellfish, to do this. Also, like I said in my videos, enzymes help a ton, as do avoiding wheat, dairy, nuts, and sugar. It's weird at first, but after awhile it's not so bad. See a naturopath, and if you have some extra funds, get the Alcat test done.

  • I had this for 6 straight months. It was an absolute nightmare. Also, had 5 anaphylactic reactions that were related to this during that same period. Would have to go to the ER and get shot up with epinephrine. It has been gone for the most part for about 2 months now but occasionally flares up briefly if I get too hot or too cold. My doc told me today he is sending me to an immunoligist if it returns. Was on every med imaginable. Maxed out on prednisone and have to wait a yr to take more.

  • @auntstacey123 - I hear all of that, and can empathize. If I can make a suggestion: save yourself some frustration and money by stopping seeing medical doctors unless you really need the drugs for symptom relief in emergencies, etc. It's not that they don't mean well, but they don't have training in fixing the cause of this illness, only the symptoms. A natural health practitioner will have the best training to help you. Also, you can order the Alcat test yourself.

  • omg! i have had this, this bad only 2 times..both a bout 4 months ....i 'm on benadryl like one a day vitamin, except i take two or four a day...it is crazy..i'm like in a prison because the hives come when they please...so,,,,,,and then the the med makes me sleepy so....i'm home alot and not being even able to go out and enjoy my life.....thank u sooooooooooooooo much...i'm drinking noni juice now trying to get some enzymes and antioxidants,,,,,,thanks again...

  • @toledogirl - benadryl is the most lethargic antihistamine. If I may suggest: try Clarinex, Allegra, or Zyrtec for less side effects. They still cause tiredness, but not as much as Benadryl. Foods, like Noni, pineapple, and papaya are good sources of enzymes, but I doubt they will have enough of them at the right time to help you digest your food. Try taking some bromelain and hydrochloric acid before meals. But who knows? It doesn't hurt to try - Let us know how the Noni juice works for you!

  • Well for me, zyrtec just zonks me the next day - doc says it is the metabolites - I have to take so much it it metabolizes down to the vistaril. Well for me, Benadryl is the best thing I take to function. Nothing works for me though except for steriods. I take about 5mg a day of prednison. It's been 2 years for me. My eyes swell, my lips swell - it's really awful.

  • Now, this doeasn't really help, it's just that when ever I have reaction in the shape of a itchy break out, I tend to stay away from whatever I ate just before the break out, even though I am not allergic to anything according to doctors. It seems to me that my hormonal cycle has some impact as well - the condition seems to worsen during a certain time of the month. Stress makes it horrible.

I'll check out more on this diet thingy. Thanks for posting this, hivesinfo.

  • I've had it for nine months now and I think stress and anti depressive pills triggered it and now I just don't know what causes the break outs. Some types of painkillers trigger angio adema and I have even been to the ER by ambulance because of it.

Now I only take anti histamines and I work out a lot (seems to help) but the break outs come and go and it wears me down. I stay away from spicy food, eggs, lactose (to a degree), certain fruits (apples, citrus) and nuts and tuna.

  • All so familiar!! I have broke out in hives for 28 yrs!! Hard to believe......just recently learned in the past 3yrs that they were autoimmune....I feel your pain!! In the middle of a flare up as we speak and started the prednisone last night....the prednisone is my last resort before i go out of my mind. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesnt....I keeping my fingers crossed!! Thinking about the diet change still not sure....thanks for the videos they do help!!

  • TRY RED REISHI OR GANODERMA LUCIDUM. I HAVE SUFFERED FOR 5 YEARS WITH AN AUTOIMMUNE PROBLEM AND STARTED TAKING1800MG A DAY AND I AM 95% BETTER. I DO NOT KNOW WHICH WEBSITE IS THE BEST BUT ANYONE THAT IS ORGANIC IS MORE LIKELY TO HAVE A MORE QUALITY PRODUCT ONE WOULD THINK.

  • Thanks for sharing. Very helpful.

  • Do you recall what your trigger was? Heat related? Did your whole body swell with hives and burning itch?

I have it, reason for my questions. Thanks

  • i'm so glad you got it worked out.

i've had chronic hives the last 3 years. sulfites in food seem to be a trigger, although i'm not sure it is the only trigger.

probiotics and milk thistle really help when i have breakouts.

  • I have the exact same problem! which is how I found your video.. I get so bad that I shake from the itching, but it is very good not to scratch and have them swell bigger and kinda burn :)

  • THANKs the d inFO..

  • Hey kasie my name is gurvinder (m24) and i am from india and my prblem started in march 2009 and i am very frustrated because i have tried everythin and as i told you i am in india so i dont have many option every time i go to a doctor i get a diffrent anti alergic pill, and as you said it is dangerous for kidny very scared coz i dnt want to die so soon.lol.... so plz plz plz help me and send me your diet chart i want to try that.... ;)

  • What exactly do you mean by enzymes? I haven't been tested, but I'm convinced that I have an autoimmune problem as well. My hives started in May of last year. I take reactine, which really helps, but I would like to try to not have to take antihistamines all the time. What kind of food are you eating?

  • Hey Kasie what was it "something" fruits, and, vegetables and where can i buy the ezymes you are taking. This past week before my first breakout, i was eating about one large meal a day and working out (weight training and cardio sometimes twice a day) I finished a workout at night and after i showered, i was using my laptop in bed and thats when i had the break out. i wonder if it's autoimmune or an allergy. Jack

  • When did you start getting hives? I am 25 and just this week this stuff hit me, full body, horrible for 3 or 4 hours at a time. It goes for 1 or 2 hours then comes back again. I am on prednisone but I cant be on it forever. I am worried this will be chronic. The thought of that makes me wanna shoot myself.

I pray it isnt auto immune disease.

  • Hi..

Nice to hear that everything is well with you.

I m from Australia. I have Urticaria too. But dont know which one. I get rash whenever I try to work out, eat spicy food, if its very hot temperature outside, when i am angry etc.. Did you get hive because of these triggers??

    Please reply

  • i've had hives for over a year.. i stopped taking my meds, i'm getting tired of resorting to medication. so.. now i'm just dealing with it. btw, i'm only 17. :T

  • I have chronic hives; while I do understand most of the causes unfortunately mine are also strongly linked with my immune system, so when I get sick they become impossible to treat.

Mine come and go. I will usually get them for about 6 weeks and after that they go away until either I get sick or 6 months pass by (whichever comes first).

Does anyone know a homeopathic medicine I can take to strengthen my immune resistance?

  • I must sound like a broken record, so let me put this another way: when the body is under digestive stress, it cannot absorb or use nutrients as efficiently, which results in more illness. The best thing you can do is to try the diet and enzyme combination. I have not been sick since starting it a year ago, which is -very- odd for me. Also, I recommend taking additional vitamins and minerals during meals. Look up the RDA for B, C, E, Zinc, Calcium, and Magnesium, and buy supplements accordingly.

  • thank you

  • but i have observed that being dependent on medicines is not a good thing to do , so i stoped anti allergic medicines , my advice to all is that just try this one remedy , is that : take 3 spoonsfull of yoguhurt , 1tsp sugar , 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder , and about 1/2 glass of water , blend and its ready. take a glass full of this in the morning before breakfast . if you have worse conditions take 3 or 4 times a day , or 2 time a day gives heavenly relief.

  • If that helps you, that's great, but it doesn't help me. My condition worsens with dairy and sugar.

  • hi i get hives too , and i dont understand the cause for it..

  • I don't completely understand the cause either, but I understand the remedy. See my other videos for directions.

  • I have awfully itchy hives at the moment. I have Lupus which is an auto immune disease. The itching is just unbearable and makes me feel insane! I have been off of steroids (Prednisolone) for about a month and now the hives have come to attack me. Your video let me know that others are suffering with this itchy hell. I have an appointment with a top dermatologist on Wednesday so I am hoping for some answers...

  • Sistagirl - by all means, please keep searching for help... but I've given up on finding "answers." Medical doctors don't know what causes autoimmune diseases. However, there is a lot to know in terms of solutions. The exact relationship to a cause isn't clear, but there a lot of ways they can be improved or remedied. See my other videos for diet and enzyme recommendations. Autoimmune diseases often come in pairs or trios, it's not unusual. They should both improve from the same things.

  • People with urticaria should be checked for autoimmune diseases. I had head to toe hives everyday for almost 10 years, doctors had no answer, then finally I saw an immune specialist that tested for all autoimmune diseases. My thyroid antibodies were huge. It also explained my fatigue, and periods that would go on for up to 6 weeks. (again doctors didn't have an answer even though this is a classic Hashimoto's thyroiditis symptom.) Hives went away completely when I got on synthetic thyroid.

  • If I'm not mistaken on the number, 30% of patients with autoimmune urticaria antibodies also have thyroid antibodies. Sometimes, synthroid will help a patient with urticaria who has no thyroid antibodies whatsoever, but that has only been done in clinical trials, and it is not common for a doctor to be willing to prescribe it (or insurance companies willing to pay for it) because it is an unconventional use of the medication.

  • My girlfriend is going through this and I totally feel for you ...I am ready to move to a less stressful area to try to fight it total country side away from city life

  • Well, that sounds really lovely, but in all sincerity, I doubt it would actually do her hives any good. Have her watch my videos and see if her symptoms relate. If so, a diet change and enzyme regimen could alleviate the problem.

  • i have the same problem and im still going through treatment for 2 and a half years...

  • Without knowing a little bit more about your situation, I have to volunteer an opinion on what you said: If 2.5 years have passed since you began the treatment, and you still have the problem, I beg and implore you to find a different doctor and/or try some alterative remedies. Take a change and see a good naturopath or homeopathic doctor. Because their treatments can't be explained by the scientific community does not make the results any less valid. I'm proof of that.

  • Thanks for your video, it's encouraging to see that someone has beaten this thing. What are the enzymes you are taking? I have chronic urticaria (due to an intolerance to salicylates and amines)and have been experimenting with Lactoferrin. Just wondering if you have tried this also or if it's another enzyme you are using?

  • I haven't tried Lactoferrin, but I have tried Bovine Colostrum, which contains Lactoferrin, I believe. It did help me get some relief, but not as much as the enzymes and diet. I've just posted a couple of videos about these. You should start by trying the enzymes first and see if they help. I am compiling a detailed pdf of the eating plan.

  • Hi I was wondering if you can tell me more about the diet and enzymes you were on. I am currently taking chinese herbs and acupuncture, it has helped a bit but i still get flare ups. Its so frustrating!

  • Hi Sweetreview. I've just posted a couple of videos about my enzymes and diet. You should start by trying the enzymes first and see if they help. I am compiling a detailed pdf of the eating plan.

  • My apologies for the delay on replies this month. I will sent individual responses shortly.

  • Hi. I hope that by now your hives have resolved. There are many different things thatt can cause hives that are not allergies. The chances are good that your hives are a one-time, temporary event. If they bother you, try taking an antihistamine such as zyrtec or claritin (or both) for a couple of days. If your hives do not resolve in a week or two, or seem to progressively get worse, I can offer more advice as to what the cause might be. Ice is good at symptom relief, too.

  • Thank you for sharing your story. I'm currently dealing with Delayed Pressure Urticaria and was hoping to see a follow up video of your progress. Also, can you forward me the treatments that you mention in this video...I'm anxious to try it out. I've posted a couple of videos relating my current experience and treatments, however, I'm not getting the results that you seem to be getting. Best wishes.

  • I got hives when I was in elementary school. One day they appeared all over my body, everywhere. They were extremely itchy and would go away and come back for about a week straight. I haven't had them since and its probably been 9 years since.

  • I wondered if you considered a reaction to MSG? I started to have urticaria and angio adema over the past year. I kept a really strict diet for two weeks then introduced a food enhancer called ACCENT which is pure MSG/monosodiumglutamate and then had a reaction. I also get terrible headaches, stomach trouble, difficulty sleeping, itching, numbness and tingling, and swelling pretty much all over the body. I've been to the emergency room a few times also with swelling of the throat and tongue.

  • My hives are the result of a stomach/nutrient-absorbing problem that in turn results in liver toxicity, which results in metabolic problems. MSG is a toxin, and like any toxin, it can aggravate the problem, but it is not the cause by itself.

I'm unclear about your particular situation, but if you would like more information on the protocol that cured me, please e-mail me directly. It is a specific kind of restricted diet and exercise program. It can't hurt to try. It has given me my life back.

  • Please post more videos on autoimmune hives (or hives in general). I also suffer from hives since April (2009). Thank you.

  • (continuing the 2 posts bellow...)

What do you think might be the allergent that causes it? It started all of a sudden without my having made any change to my lifestyle. Is this common for individuals who have hives, to start suddenly without any apparent reasons (because I would imagine if I have autoimmunitive urticaria I would've been having hives all of my life, and not start of of a sudden) ?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! (i'm so glad there are people who are willing to share their story...)

  • (continuing the post below...)

I tried eliminating potential allergents, but none seemed to come obvious. I'm starting to doubt that the allergent is inside my body: the hives follow me around, even when I go home (I live on a university campus); I get them right after I take shower; i get them in the morning when I've eaten nothing. (continued on the next post...i'm really sorry)

  • hi Casey, thank you for uploading this video. It was very helpful. I started having hives for the first time in my live about 3 weeks ago, and it has been driving me crazy. I paid the doctors a visit and all they did was to tell me to start taking antihistamine; these worked for a while, but the hives would come back whenever i stop, and the antihistamine also seems to be loosing its affect now. (I'm continuing this msg on the below post b/c there's a word limit...i'm sorry.)

  • i sent you an email one here please respond if there is any info you can help me out with like what your diet is and anything else i can try.
