  • A song with the name of another known legend.

  • Wayne Newton plays a good guitar.

  • Well considering that Luther Perkins died in 1968, that would have to be Carl Perkins.

  • oneyng?

  • You can tell he loves to sang and speak to the people.

  • oneyNG

  • I work in IT and average about 10-15 hours of unpaid OT a week plus weekend calls whenever the manager feels like it. I can't remember the last time I had a vacation. I wake up tired every morning. Song is still relevant as fuck.

Thank you Johnny, for understanding what it's like.

  • I love that close to diabolical laugh he gave for us.

  • That is Carl Perkins, all the way at right end. His hair was getting thin there. He ended up wearing hair pieces, the rest of his life.

  • Perfect, I love Johnny and I hate my job.

  • Dedicated to all working men - simply unique - thanks !!

  • Now days, they get rid of you, when you get your 28th,or 29th year in. Ever hear Marty Stuart, talk about his Dad. He wrote"workin man", about his Dad. It's on his new Ghost Train album.

  • Excellent!!

  • Hi everybody, The man on the piano is Larry Butler, his producer at that time. Carl Perkins probably has forgotten his wig.

greetings from a Cash fan from the Netherlands

  • Johnny Cash is getting round up! Go Johnny !

  • anybody knows if that's Earle Poole Ball on the piano ?

  • At 1:00 on the right to Bob: Is this Carl Perkins?

  • What time is it? 4:30? Hey Oney! Classic! We love you Johnny from Grove City, Ohio! R.I.P.

  • "and today about 4:30 I'll make up for every good night's sleep I've lost"

  • Right! Hit the boss where it hurts, Working Man!

  • This is a good tune. I'd see him in my dreams at night and wake up in the morning feeling tired! Reminds me of an ol gal I used to dream about. I'd wake up feeling beat like a rented mule!

  • I taught him everything he knows Hee Haw.

  • bin mega aufgewirbelt und ungezogen heute wer mag mit mir schreibn und so

  • Everyone has an Oney at work that they'd like to give a knuckle sandwich!!!

  • yeah, you're right.. and he gives his best in bugging others when I work on sat. or sunday...

  • Johnny Cash is the man and will always be the man

  • Detroit's theme song

  • I asked my old neighbor if he liked Johnny Cash and his reply was "Who doesn't?"

  • Johnny Cash Is The Best , I Swear He Is So Awesome !

  • FUCK YEAH

  • My grandfather and I were watching this. I started to understand exactly what he was going to do.

He starts talking about "the cross" and we both "OOOOHHHH!!", with full fist full of knuckles, we look at each ohther and laugh...

    OH, ONEY! It's 4:30!

He'll show Oney who's the boss...

Johnny Cash is brilliant. I'm glad my grandfather showed me this.

  • how many times has johnny cash come to aus? anyone know?

  • An old favorite of mine; I feel like he's singing about one of my old bosses - last I knew the boss was "Westman" at Upsala institute of Anatomy. "With the right hand full of knuckles..."

  • Johnny Cash is the king.

  • If Elvis was the king, Johnny Cash was the God !

  • LOVE IT HAHAHA

  • Johnny Cash will always be the king.

  • @steu01 HECK YEA

  • Brilliant ! ;)

  • WOOHOO Yes I've been looking for this song omg yes I love it oh thank you Hippekuln!!

  • Wonderful!

  • I think this video is fantastic. Johnny Cash and Elvis are GRRRREAT!!!

  • super post...thanks...love it...

  • correct. Luther died in a house fire in 1968

    This is Bob Wooten.

  • Johnny's usual 2nd guitar player was Luther Perkins, not Carl.

  • By the time this was recorded, Luther Perkins had passed away. Bob Wootton took his place. While Bob continued to play Luther's famous Boom-chicka-boom style, Carl added some great additional guitar to the sound, and he also played most of the solos. After Carl quit, many other guitarists had this role, among them Marty Stuart in the early 80's.

  • Bob Wootton played most of the solos becuase he was lead guitarist, not Carl Perkins. Carl only played some solos. Bob played the solos on the hits and famous Cash hits.

  • Your right, it should be "some", not "most".. lol

  • Now that we have that settled, where did you get this amazing performance, this is one of my favourite songs, and Cash is in his prime here.

  • @jeffandmatilda Luther Perkins, wasn't 2nd,but 1st. Gene Wooten, took Luther's place, after he died from results of his house fire. Gene, stayed with Cash, until Cash, died. Carl Perkins,no relation to Luther Perkins, joined in the late 1960's,playing lead on "Boy Named Sue",and wrote "Daddy Sang Bass",which Johnny, recorded while Carl was his his band. Johnny,w'd let Carl,do his hits "Blue Suede Shoes" & "Honey Don't" at every Johnny Cash Concert. There's videos of Carl,in the band,on youtube.

  • @glencoe6305 who the fuck is gene wooten.dont you mean bob wooten

  • @jeffandmatilda buy the CD "Live at San Quentin",& you can hear Johnny Cash say, Luther Perkins, died. Then he introduces later Carl Perkins, who joined the band, and Bob Wooten, who replaced Luther.

  • Is that Carl Perkins playing second guitar, becuase it does not look like it.

  • It's hard to determine by watching this clip, but it is Carl Perkins. Less hair than usual :)

  • Not to be disrespectful to Carl Perkins, but it literally looks like he simply forgot to bring along his toupe (spelling?). He actually wore one.

  • love it

  • This was on "Any Old Way the blows" (1973) and Greatest Hits III (1979)and The Legend of Johnny Cash (box set)

  • With a right hand full of knuckles, today I'll show Oney who's the boss !!! Hell yeah !!!

  • I am thrilled to bits to see the one and only JC sing one of my favourite songs in my adopted country. Thank you for posting this.
