I work in IT and average about 10-15 hours of unpaid OT a week plus weekend calls whenever the manager feels like it. I can't remember the last time I had a vacation. I wake up tired every morning. Song is still relevant as fuck.
Thank you Johnny, for understanding what it's like.
Now days, they get rid of you, when you get your 28th,or 29th year in. Ever hear Marty Stuart, talk about his Dad. He wrote"workin man", about his Dad. It's on his new Ghost Train album.
This is a good tune. I'd see him in my dreams at night and wake up in the morning feeling tired! Reminds me of an ol gal I used to dream about. I'd wake up feeling beat like a rented mule!
An old favorite of mine; I feel like he's singing about one of my old bosses - last I knew the boss was "Westman" at Upsala institute of Anatomy. "With the right hand full of knuckles..."
By the time this was recorded, Luther Perkins had passed away. Bob Wootton took his place. While Bob continued to play Luther's famous Boom-chicka-boom style, Carl added some great additional guitar to the sound, and he also played most of the solos. After Carl quit, many other guitarists had this role, among them Marty Stuart in the early 80's.
Bob Wootton played most of the solos becuase he was lead guitarist, not Carl Perkins. Carl only played some solos. Bob played the solos on the hits and famous Cash hits.
@jeffandmatilda Luther Perkins, wasn't 2nd,but 1st. Gene Wooten, took Luther's place, after he died from results of his house fire. Gene, stayed with Cash, until Cash, died. Carl Perkins,no relation to Luther Perkins, joined in the late 1960's,playing lead on "Boy Named Sue",and wrote "Daddy Sang Bass",which Johnny, recorded while Carl was his his band. Johnny,w'd let Carl,do his hits "Blue Suede Shoes" & "Honey Don't" at every Johnny Cash Concert. There's videos of Carl,in the band,on youtube.
@jeffandmatilda buy the CD "Live at San Quentin",& you can hear Johnny Cash say, Luther Perkins, died. Then he introduces later Carl Perkins, who joined the band, and Bob Wooten, who replaced Luther.
A song with the name of another known legend.

Well considering that Luther Perkins died in 1968, that would have to be Carl Perkins.

Hi everybody, The man on the piano is Larry Butler, his producer at that time. Carl Perkins probably has forgotten his wig.

correct. Luther died in a house fire in 1968
This is Bob Wooten.

It's hard to determine by watching this clip, but it is Carl Perkins. Less hair than usual :)

Not to be disrespectful to Carl Perkins, but it literally looks like he simply forgot to bring along his toupe (spelling?). He actually wore one.
