  • Sweet.

  • Thanks for the video man... now I know what color my Strat is, hahahaha. It's Agave Blue. I thought it was Ice Blue or something...

  • The telecaster kicks ass. Love the sound.

  • as much history as fenders have, my first guitar was a fender squier acoustic, that ruined my impression of fenders, i use ESPs now.

  • @TheRockClassicfan "George Bush was not very clever. He was from Texas. People from Texas, therefore, are not very clever."

  • @whatsitallabouthey ya ik, generalizations ftw. however, to this day the only fender i've liked the feel of is the tele, im not a strat fan

  • @TheRockClassicfan Fair enough. I personally love strats because they are so smooth and versatile. But there is something about the simplicity and tone of a tele that is very appealling.

  • @whatsitallabouthey it's all about what fits you personally, i think. That's why i'm an ESP guy, i'd take a 300$ ESP over a 1000$ fender simply because it fits what i do. of course, it all depends on the model, but thats my own opinion

  • Have played quite a few guitars, but always come back to the Telecaster. Have a 90's Mexican Tele, and it just has a ton of character to it sonically. Still my fave!

  • 1:07 and it sounds very Graham Coxon esque.

  • I just love this guitar, it's my first and beat guitar, I've tried many other guitars but no other guitar has that sparkly singlecoil rock soun!!

  • I have this same amp (My backup amp) and it sounds great on the clean channel, and sounds like this on the distortion channel...

  • the telecaster is a good guitar

  • those spicks sure can makem

  • @greenpoo69 HAHAHAHAHAA

  • This is a 2004... tele

  • telecaster or stratocaster?

  • @ant1mag3 that's a tough one...

  • @ant1mag3 telecaster the best ever

  • @ant1mag3 i like telecaster cause its more rigid, and you can get a stratish tone out of the neck pickup, but you cant really get a tele tone out of a strats bridge pickup. plus i think they look better and everybody has strats anyway, i try to be a little original, good luck!

  • I have the first telecaster it showed, i think it said the 2001 version. I love my telecaster to bits, best guitar i've owned and played. And the maple neck is so easy to play on :)

  • @sethpin67 you know there are Tele bass's

  • I was in a band in '93/'94 with a tele player, he made it scream... if I wasn't ensconced on bass I'd play a tele.

  • thats an awsome guitar my brother just bought 1 but he hates the new look so he tore off the hard shell so all there is,is wood and the pick gaurd and hes a tattoo artist and he tattooed that symbole thts in violins on it on the side looks awsome and sound awsome too

  • my is Fender Standar Telecaster made in Mexico i have the maple neck

  • I've got the same amp, it is my backup...not a big fan of the amp....selling mine

  • I got it!!!!!!

  • very cool hopin to buy one soon with mom's permission i now hav enough money

  • There is but it is going to run you about 600 to 800 more American dollars.

  • my 1994 telecaster is nice and heavy, just right, the play a bility is outsanding. the guitar has a bluesy twang to it, i bought her on eaby for 300.00 one year back, and i tell you it was the best guitar ive owned. no joke its nice.

  • my baja is heavier than a les paul by about 1.5lbs

  • is the baja heavier than the mexican tele?

  • yes i would think so. baja's are tank but so so nice :)

  • Actually connectionmaker, a lot of gibsons are chambered nowadays.

  • the les paul usually runs between cheap epiphones at 7 ibs. to gibson (not hollowed out junk) at 10 to 11 ibs.

  • Vintage frets? Yuck... medium jumbo ftw

  • Are tele's quite small guitars?

  • No, the telecaster is actually bigger and heavier than the Stratocaster and Les Paul. Or I think it's just as heavy as the Les Paul.

  • Thanks a lot. [y] :D

  • Its not as heavy as a les paul.. les pauls are pretty heavy

  • Nah, Les Pauls are usually way heavier.

  • @coffeepotz Les Pauls could weigh anywhere from 7.5 lbs. to 1 almost 16 Pounds like my 79` Custom weighed.

  • @coffeepotz Les Pauls could weigh anywhere from 7.5 lbs. to almost 16 Pounds like my 79` Custom weighed.

  • the Les Paul is a lot heavier.

  • @WillieDrew2009 Les Pauls are much heavier

  • If it is a 2001 telecaster then why does the serial number begin with MZ4? The 4 would indicate that it is a 2004-2005.

  • ooo...this guy knows his stuff

  • I have a mex tele love it,,,although i did change pickups and string nut. put seymore duncan vintage pickups in and wow what a difference, stl-1b in bridge and the str-1 to match,,sounds like a tele costing $1000's more. My main guitar on stage is a humbucker but the more i play my tele I just can't put it down. good video.

  • i love tele....strato..aaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Sorry but my MIA just sounds that little bit better. Not that this isnt a really nice guitar.

  • I thought the first few bars were a piss take, an attempt at humour by playing really bad like Harry Chapin's "6 String Orchestra" but you warmed up and it wasn't too bad. Not that I'm any Steve Vai but you gotta call 'em as you see 'em. Am I right?

    Nice axe though. Sounds cool.

I've got a MIM Tele but I replaced the pups with a pair of Brierley pickups.Quite an improvement although the stock pups where very good anyway.

  • 1:09 thats how i play with a guitar

  • Man your playing style is so similair to mine when i am improvising, not that it sounds that great but I can definitelly hear myself playing.

  • Thanx! XD

  • more specific..

  • made in mexico uh oh

  • can someone tell me the best guitar to play? tele is the versatile one but which is the best?

  • What type of music do you play?

  • i want to start playing punk rock mix

  • Like what type of Punk? Name some bands that you're into.

  • The hives. its alternative rock+ some punk songs

my name should've given you a clue =]

  • You're kidding right?

  • yup all the good stuff

  • great review, thank you for sharing!

  • We show some of the instruments taken apart so that those of you watching can compare and possibly confirm your own instruments are original and unmodified.

  • i dont like the 7.5 radius on the neck

  • The MIM standard series has a 9.5" radius.

  • @Rick36561 since i don't know enough...what are the pros & cons on 9.5 vs 7.5?

  • @nmssis If you were to take 7.5 inch circle and a 9.5 inch circle you would notice that the radius on each circle is different. For a given amount of width of a fretboard the given radius for the 9.5 inch would be flatter giving you the ability to have lower action and less problems with fretting out when you bend strings.

  • @Rick36561 thank you...seriously, this makes things very clear.

  • @Rick36561 btw, in you opinion...is it worth spending the extra for the American Standard vs the Mexican Standard? Also for the long haul, what aspects adds to the "collection" value?

  • @nmssis The Same Guitar basically. One is assembled in Mexico and one is Assembled in Arizona. The problem with these "Big Guy" Guitar Companies is that they have cheapened themselves to the point where the are havins Shit Guitars Built in such Places and Indonesia and India with the crappiest parts and Slapping the Fender name on them. If Leo Fender was Alive Now ,,,,Heads Would Roll

  • @nmssis A very good bet is to buy Japanese Built Fenders, Gibsons, Tokai, etc... The craftsmanship is 100 times better than anything Gibson or Fender Could ever Dream of and at a Fraction of the price.

  • @Rick36561 do they even make Fenders in Japan anymore?

  • @nmssis No, but the Company,,Fujigen still makes em ...Go to guitars japan.com

  • do they even make Fenders in Japan anymore?

  • They have great action! Really

I was very inpressed when I played one.

And the tone is great too

    They work for me.

    Corkey

  • They have a certain "tinnines"called twang which I like. It seems like a good surf and rock guitar to me. Crispy.

  • whole lotta treble bite

  • too much treble for my tastes...

  • fuck you! lol

  • @emmetwhitey

You aren't going to elaborate on that, are you?

  • what does that meen/?

  • It means you tell us why telecasters suck.

  • great guitar

  • I play metal, as well as everything else on my tele. I play a Line Six Spider II. People say they're shitty amps, but those people don't know how to get a good tone out of an amp. Besides, it was 85 dollars at the pawn shop, and i didn't have an amp yet :P

  • man that's some sick tone at about 2:45

  • ive played guitar for almost 3 years now, and ive always play trash metal, hxc, and i wanna start playing pop punk will this do it well, or am i better of getting a start or sg

    ????

  • A tele is good for pop punk, but if you like catchy hooks, play ska instead! or try Choking Victim and Leftover Crack. it sure as hell ain't poppy, but i think you might enjoy it. Just don't play FOB and Blink.

  • why are you trying to tell this guy what to play? and what the f*ck is wrong with blink? theres nothing wrong with poppy. Ever heard of the who?

  • I meant poppy in the sense of "mainstream, overdone, played out". The Who = amazing.

And i'm not telling him what to play

    I gave suggestions.

    It's how people give advice.

  • pop punk...

    telecaster and stratocaster are gd..

    due to the single coils..

but sg isnt as bad as well..

just set up properly shuld be ok...

    ohh yar...blink 182 is a great band..

    FOB i agree sucks..haha

  • deffinately an sg

  • The gain and the volume both have an effect on the sound/volume. Turning the gain all the way down leaves the drive channel a bit 'grittier' than the clean channel but doesn't make it silent. There is some loudness increase as the gain is turned up.

  • I'm not sure what your asking. Yes, the drive channel still plays when the gain is turned down on the Traynor YCV50. The drive channel has drive and volume control, the clean channel just a volume control. Then there is a master volume control. There is also a boost switch on the drive channel which I typically only use with single coils for soloing, once in awhile with humbuckers for a really thick sound.

  • I'm considering to buy a Telecaster. Is this good for styles like rock, or is it only for jazz/blues?

  • As you can hear in the video, the stock standard telecaster can do many styles.

  • YEAH,BUT NOT HEAVY/THRASH METAL?

  • This video jam is intended to highlight the Fender Standard Tele more so than the amplifier. In that regard, the tele is probably not the ideal choice for metal. The amp used is more of a classic rock sound, also not ideal for metal. It does work ok with pedals for other distorted tones, and it has an effects loops for uses with a modeler of other fx processor.

  • I found this useful as I'm considering buying one. Although advice for the future, most people know the layout and the under the hood thing but what we really want to see is how it sounds.

  • Thanks for the feedback.
