  • what if you ground your appliances?

  • There is a reason it is still taught as "Electrical Theory" in college. The fact is nobody can tell you with 100% accuracy that it will behave this way every time, in all cases.

  • I come from a different world I do not know why are you doing all this.

EMP will not affect only electronics and what will be affected depends on the intensity and duration of the pulse.

  • During any EM event all electrical cabling, ungrounded and grounded metallic enclosures/items and even the ground itself will collect energy from the fields generated. During a nuclear induced pulse energy levels may reach well over 4 Megawatts per square meter with a rise time of nano seconds.. You should assume any device connected to the grid during a nuclear event will be destroyed, electronic or mechanical.

  • i donot have the need of the money to make EMP cabs like that but how hard would it be to line something like a large plastic case like a pelecan case or maybe a foot locker and just keep a ground cable close by to clip it to?

  • I notice you have your gears on metal shelves. Typically, its best to put a coarboard or wood under them.

  • Some people who can't afford metal cabinets can make a coarboard box lined with with aluminium foil on the outside. There should be no foil gaps when the box is closed.

  • Also try using Edison cells, their life's are forever almost. If you need batteries they will wear out given a long duration of society break down.

  • Must be nice to have lots of money. But in the event of war or elenin induced monster electrical storms emp bursts, society will shut down and you will only have the fuel you have stored then your gens and vehicles are dead. But looking at what you have I assume you have several underground 10000 gal fuel tanks too. Wait till the military confiscates it all. Your operation is to big to hide or defend. Good luck though and God Bless

  • A solar storm is different in a way that it strikes wave after wave for months. Because of that. I would protect each gadget indivually so when I open the cabinet the others won't get exposed.

  • You're right. At this point we are all just guessing. Some of it is educated guessing but still guessing. Let's hope we never need to know.

  • what is emp

  • Dude you got TOYS! Can I come stay with you when the world blows up???

Was not having MPPT for your solar an EMP thing????

    Loved the vid!

PS Ham Radio has info on EMP in the past few months issues of QST magazine. (within 6 months)

  • so back when we all ran carburators ... are the alternators and starters and coils on those engines affected by EMP or is it just the vehicle's computer that is effected

  • great vid! i "favorited" this vid for reference later. thanks for the PRICELESS information.

  • Good info. great video

  • you were mistaken about the solar panels there are some diodes built into the panels they should be in the connecter box on the back of the panel in a EMP burst they will fry but are real simple to replace as long as you have some in your parts room to do it with i have replacements for mine and and had to replace a set of them and took me about 15 min. as soon as i got replacement diodes they can be gotten at raidio shack and i have 2 full sets now an cost me 18 dollars you need a iron & soder

  • I understand how it affects electronics, and I know it "shouldn't" bother batteries that are idle and not connected to anything, but once they are in use, they are internally changed...do you think it might mess with a battery in use?

  • @drduncan74 I hope so. Solar storm is somthing that is overlooked by most. NASA is still predicting a big one..

  • Kevin, a quick and dirty method for checking the EMP shielding of the cabinets is a transistor radio placed in the cabinet. If you can hear it with the doors closed, EMP can still get in. I am a licensed Ham Radio Operator and am learning this EMI/RFI shielding. Been finding lots of tricks using copper and aluminum screening, copper finger stock, and copper strap and braid. Lotsa info to sift through.

  • @obxsolwind LOL, you try.

  • i would love to hear about your water filtering system

  • Hey man! i dont like this vid!.....thumbs down MAN!...Thanks bro,lol great

    stuff

  • your house looks like a nuclear bunker!!! thats fucking AWESOME!

  • yo very nice video and if it is ok could you give me some tips on how u put it together

  • very nice setup!obviously you have a few dollars to have afforded all this equipment even if you have done everything yourself!wish i had your setup!

  • Great information. I was wondering about my solar panels and batteries. Thanks for the data.

  • Every time I see this system I am totally amazed. I can only wish I was at this level of solar energy and general knowledge. You are definitely king of solar!!! This video was helpful and very informative

  • Your preps are incredible to say the least. do you have any idea how much of your expendable income goes into prepping 10% 20% 30% ?? single or married to a super understanding supportive woman?

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!!!! I have some of those cabinets I now have a weekend project. If I have any questions I will give you a shout if that is okay. Thanks for sharing brother and for stopping by the show last night........

  • You've got a great setup! Smart to stock EMP repair parts for your truck.

In my case I just bought a truck that's already EMP proof (except for the antilock brakes and a few other things of course). If an EMP hits, I can be loaded up and out of here in under an hour. In such an event I'd have to get out of the city before the fires get bad. All those falling jet aircraft are likely to turn the city into an inferno.

  • Great Video, Thanks funny about the paint.

  • Great information again. Thanks for spending the time to share.

  • Great info, thanks! It's a good idea to use marine copper paint in a 'safe room' or something like that!

  • Where would I get the marine paint with copper?

    Thanks

  • 90% copper based paint.Excellent information.Incredible setup you have Sir.

  • @unomas58 Thanks ONEMORE 58

  • Thanks Buddy!

  • Admittedly I have just seen this first video.. wow.. Great I am not a 25BRAVO.. I was an ET Nuke in U.S. Navy.. Former Leadman for Delta, and currently work for the Railroad.. Check your bonds with a megger.. Next Amazing devices in VT has small EMP devices.. You can check you starter/Electrical motor theory.. All I can say is I am not that positive..If there is a way to induce a voltage there is a way for a problem to occur.. Lastly don't ever give away information like aircraft "N" numbers..

  • @pughmecdoc Thanks Sir..Iv done as much research on this as my brain could endure..There are debates on grounded VS non grounded systems and I did my best to make it right. I would encourage anyone who knows more about this to share it..Why would I want to try to hde a tail # on an aircraft ? Just curious..

  • @OBXSOLWIND N numbers directly go to a web base that gives out names and addresses of owners... You were talking about an aircraft.. Many people talk about trolls.. Trolls love to invade privacy.. cause problems because they can... While most of the community would never even think of such a thing.. there are those that just love to hate.

    pease

  • Hi, for your Faraday box you need to weld those grounding spots. Your ground line should run out into soil for about 20 feet as deep as you can get it (think of it as the anti-antenna). These need to be done to withstand a HANE and CME. Army guidelines, I am a 25Bravo. Also anything with a circuit is vulnerable. So tools to find the break in the line is key to repairing damage that may be caused by such things. Message me for more intel.

  • @thorlong Thanks for the info..What is 25 Bravo?

  • @OBXSOLWIND usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjobs/a/25b.htm

Basically I am a computer guru for the Army.

  • @OBXSOLWIND I think it's an army occupational code. Maybe electronic technician??

  • Thank you Sir!

  • Great setup, thanks for the info!

  • Thank you that is some great info.

  • nice set up brah

  • Excellent, as usual. I knew there was something to that paint, why put in the extra effort for no benefit, sneaky. Stay safe OBX..Thanks.

  • @RoninX4 Thanks Ronnin I try...I had no intensions of EMP on the reloading room but I had the paint..Thanks Brother.......

  • @OBXSOLWIND what type of batteries do you use

  • Great Video This was probably the best simple video about EMP proof that I have scene , thanks for sharing.

  • @StatenIslandPrepper Thanks Brother...I am reluctant to give this type of info because I dont have any rock solid sources to be conclusive...

  • Great Video

  • hello, great vid, your preparred more than anyone i have seen.are you going to make the water filter with 2 filters,i want to buy a berkey but if i can save a ton of money or even make 2-3 filters for the price of a berkey i will.im very bad at any kind of handyman stuff.i remember you said you were going to when bk from vaca.thanks alot i would really appreciate it.

  • @18wheeler76 FUBARPROTOCALL did a great DIY video on making a filter system you should check it out.. Thanks for your kind words..

  • @OBXSOLWIND i did check it out, then we had a conversation about doing 1 with 2 filters so it would filter the water quicker.

  • What about putting small things in anti static bags

  • @wtf0804 That works to.. There are lots of videos on that meathod..

  • Great video.

  • verry nice place

  • great video

  • copper in the paint, was that for marine use to prevent algae? thanks for sharing I love your setup.

  • You da man Obx! Very nice my friend, thanks for sharing it!

  • @minbound Thanks Min I try...Thanks for watching Brother...

  • Very nice setup! I always learn something new from this channel. One of my favorites. The 7.3 is a great motor. Impressive! Take care and be safe.

    Gary

  • @BugOutVehicles Thanks Gary.. Hope all is well wth you..
