@Aruchinjiru Thats true anyone who want them to perform anywhere else in japan or abroad not only has to pay there travel and hotel expenses but they have to travel first class. And not to mention they still have to pay for a geisha time (Like $2,000 an hour for full geiko if i remember).
They were real geisha from Japan- it was for the big sakura festival in DC last April. They certainly didn't speak any English, and that's what all the information said.

Actually Geisha's do travel, but you would have to pay a VERY high price. They often go in travel shows or Japanese festivals at a very high cost.
Geisha's started traveling to America and Europe since the 20th century, some even stayed in New York and Austria where they married to rich men.
